Well, once we stopped funding isis and every other Arab spring destabilization group, there was no need for western media to report on it

They do though. People talk about Nazis all the time. It's a major cultural touchstone. What a completely fricking stupid comparison lol

Do you not remember a year ago when every news channel was showing live cams from Kiev as if Putin himself was going to march through the square any minute, and now they dont even talk about it even though supposedly hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been killed and it's the biggest war in Europe since ww2, yet magically doesn't have a single war correspondent from any network reporting from the front lines?

Because assad won the war? Are you mad that we arent stilling reporting about serbia?

Cause after Vietnam the government smartly ended the draft and from then on would only ever go to war against hopelessly incompetent enemies. The last several generations of Americans grew up having never experienced any negative consequences from wars unless it was the result of voluntarily joining the military.

Well yeah, ISIS was defeated and the war has been at a standstill for like 5 years so there's not much to talk about.

Gary's mistake was overestimating the relatability factor. People want the president to be like them, but they dont want him to be completely ignorant of whats going on in the world, because then he cant effectively protect them.

it's over, but not officially. Assad controls most of the country. The Kurds control the northeast. The Turks control the Northern border areas and will probably annex them at some point in the future. The US still has troops along the border with Jordan but they're not really doing anything.

IIRC Assad made a deal with the Kurds so they administrate it but allow nominal Syrian control and troop presence.

It's still going, we have troops and special forces there still. We even deployed F-117s to drop LGBs on high priority targets since the country is full of sams

No one cares or knows though

He controls the major cities. There's still pockets of islamists here and there but they are largely irrelevant. There's the big region in the east that's under joint government/kurdish control but is still nominally part of Syria. There's the part in the north that's under control of Turkey/Turkish allied rebels but will probably be handed over to Syria once Assad makes peace with Erdogan which Erdogan seems wanting to do.

The real problem right now is that the Syrian economy is fricked and the country is Africa-tier in terms of economy and living off drug trade

Places like Syria really do make you realise how much bullshit is behind American foreign policy. It would be preferable to have an American president not even aware of your country so he doesn't authorise some catastrophic """regime change"""
