Maybe not all of it, but the battle of Gaugamela is the single best battle scene in the history of cinema by far.
And yeah, critics can be moronic, the hated The Thing
the thing is the worst edited film in the history of mankind. even with a surface level knowledge you can still easily notice the horrific failures in the most basic aspects of filmmaking. seriously the thing is a goof galore
>This movie was unironically awesome
No it wasn't. Terrible pacing, too much homosexualry, black Roxana, weird incest plot, Jared Leto.
It's just poorly written and the narrative jumps around in a way that doesn't really make sense. It's over long and the casting choices were off. Particularly Angelina Jolie. She plays Alexander's mother and is practically the same age as Colin Farrell. Usually not a big deal but they made it really awkward. Basically Oliver Stone just shouldn't have been awarded such a potentially amazing project. It deserves no cult following, and is totally forgettable.
nah. it was stock. like, insanely stock. surprised it was made by oliver stone, who was the kino machine up until that point. all the characters spoke the dnc/rnc political points from that era. anthony hopkins was awful
it was the villeneuve dune of that era - stock slop. generic in every aspect. safe slop, zero risk. committee approved cast. just an awful project all around the clock
Questionable. I think it kind of deserves it's meh reputation on a whole.
It did experiment and do radical things. Most of which failed. >Focus on Alexander and his megelomania and larger than life persona in his during his own life as the real drama
Probably the right thing to do, but wasn't that great in execution and not what people expected or wanted.
>Portray Alexander as a big gay boy and talk about his homoeroticism
Too much for audiences then. Imo too much for audiences now because honestly Man x Man is innately gross to men. Daring tho.
>Try to depict the Macedonians as slightly rustic barbaric outsiders by giving them irish accents and depicting your star Alexander with an Irish actor with strong accent
Total failure even if it's smart on paper. I don't think anyone even got what was going on or cared. It made Alexander come off as a goof ball combined with his erratic emoting to show how tortured he is.
>Alexander was said to have gold hair so here he dyes but it's ancient times so it's not perfect, plus indicates Alex isn't an Aryan god
Bad dye job. Even more of a corny motherfricker
It did have to legendary stand out home runs.
>Rosario Dawson's boobs
>The best ancient war battle possibly ever done in cinema
So fricking good. I think only GoT rivals it.

I wanted to counter many of your points until I got to >So fricking good. I think only GoT rivals it.
GoT battles? realized here I would just be wasting time. Keep in mind, I do agree with you on that battle but your comparison makes me believe you have the absolute worst taste and are not worth interacting with beyond this.
>Alexander the Great
>white
Yeah ok bud.
Hello Mr. Bot.
he's irish
>irish
>white
Stupid american.
More like
>Alexander the Great
>Irish

I enjoy high budget ancient/medieval kinos, even if they're flawed.
We need more. Much more.

>Jared Leto ruins yet another film by being homosexual
Is there a Cinemaphile chart for proper Action-Adventure kino? Antiquity, Medieval, Pirates etc. etc.
Anything about more poetic times.
homo
35% audience, Rotten Tomatoes
are they right??
I've rented this and Fiddler on the roof, and I will watch them, anyway can I have some (you)s
Was it Iraq war propaganda?
>nooo we can't go home now we will build lasting harmony between east and west
classic
Better just read the manga Historie.
I liked it too
I liked Colin Farrell for this role. The only thing they should did was give them American English Accents instead of Scottish.
That is some atrocious casting.
The casting was almost as bad as Little Mermaid.
