I'm surprised this seems to be rated lower than Alien3. The crew of the Betty are more memorable than the Fury 161 prisoners. The budget seems higher and the environments more interesting. Ripley 8 was really weird compared to past movies Ripley but not terrible.
What are Cinemaphile's thoughts?

There were so many actors hamming it the frick up that I love it.
>Ron Perlman
>Dan Hedaya
>Brad Dourif
>Michael Wincott
they must have had a fricking blast on set.
They killed Michael Wincott too early. I wish we got more of him.
It's a pity they completely wasted the good actors they had, namely Weaver, Wincott and Dourif.
The rest are either awful or complete cardboard.
Christ, I fricking hate Alien Resurrection.
>Brad Dourif
huh were was he?
Resurrection is a lot more cheesy but it's better overall.
Neither are particularly good.
Alien was tainted, FUBAR after A3. It was the first IP ruined from the iconic 70/80s franchises. Nobody gave a shit about A:R and around that time T3 came up and all hope was lost anyway
It's eh, ok and entertaining enough. But in no way canon nor would I want more set in that timeline.
No, no. I cant say I hated it either, it had creepy and good alien moments. that secene the Alien gets into the escape pod and just blood splattering every where, great. But it was followed up by General, I blow my men up while I salute them only to hold my brains in my hand a few seconds later, it was very goofy. Alien Ripley being so full of her self was just off putting, it made sense since she didn´t have the memories of her old self. The ending thou, had me wishing for a movie set on earth like in the Dark Horse comics from the 80s and 90s, well back then we where looking forward to Resident Evil movies too. I get it, they can never please everyone, but ruining Aliens by killing everything good from that movie ? Well, at least it prepared me for the disappointment that was nuWars and Trek. Only now they tank IP´s o purpose. Wooden planet inhabited by monks sounds far more interesting in my opinion, but hey, at least the score of three was alright :/
Great cast.
>What are Cinemaphile's thoughts?
It sucks. I want to forget the cringe when Ripley cuddled with this abomination at the end. The entire crew was stupid and full of cringe action figure tropes.
Alien 3 is far better than Ressurection.
yeah saw this one with my dad at the local theater... problem was sigourney's delivery. in the first 2 films she's kind and sincere... in 3 she's a bit colder but basically the same ripley
in res she's doing the lame ass
>notice how emotionless i am
>isn't it sleek and cool?
It's not even the real Ripley. She's just a clone who's half-Xeno and is practically her own character.
Yeah, another good example why I hate this disgusting movie.
It's no Alien 3 that's for sure.
The Alien in part 3 was pretty fricking cool actually.
Truth.
Holy shit I had no idea they used a dog. But it now makes sence why the Alien moved like it did.
They didn't use the dog in the end. The Alien was a rod-puppet.
Ok but, the dog probably inspired them for the movement of the Alien? It's just too similar to not have been an influence.
qt puppet.
It seemed like they used three different methods: puppets, full CGI, and guy in a suit.
And all three are completely different sizes and colors. Confused the hell out of me, because I thought there were at least 2 different aliens.
I think the only CGI part was at the end when the Alien's head cracked.
I've said it a couple of times, had this movie been called something like "Space Monsters" instead of Alien, people would think of it more fondly. Jeunet's directing style is just too weird for an Alien movie, but as a standalone movie Resurrection is pretty fun sci-fi flick.
Worst design ever.
the director was french, right ?
>You talkin' to me?
the guns were terrible too
It's a solid scifi action flick with Sigourneykino
7/10, a bit generic and cheesy, but enjoyable
of course compared to genuine 10/10 movies like the first two movies, it's a huge letdown, but it's way more fun than the pretentious failed art film project that Alien cubed turned out to be
Alien 3 wasn't going to be "fun" anyway, and personally I love how bleak it is
>and personally I love how bleak it is
Me too. The great mostly British cast helps also.
This guy and Charles Dance were great. Shame about the third act, though,
Here are the facts.
It's just a hypersleep nightmare anyway
It had very little Sci Fi, now that I try to remember. Alien/s was great for the claustrophobia those submarine like environments delivered. A3 could have been Jason stalking inmates trough the tunnels and it wouldn´t have changed much
>and personally I love how bleak it is
It was basically The Last of Us 2: Alien edition. Just pointless misery porn. Barely even a horror movie, and barely even a sci-fi movie, it's literally just demoralizationcore.
I see it more as the end of Ripley's story; it's bleak, it's hopeless, she's at the ass-end of nowhere with nowhere to go, but she has the final choice. I think it's fitting.
I totally get the criticisms leveled at Alien 3, but I can't hate it.
It's one of Whedon's first screenplays
Shows that without him directing his quips don't work
One issue might have been, that Jeunet doesn't really understand or speak much english.
I didn't know that. Makes sense.
Like with the Star Wars prequels it's aged better than it was at the time. Given the absolute state of the Alien franchise in present day with its overly ambitious pretentious nonsense, this film is actually entertaining to watch. It's low ambition and only promises to be shlock and it delivers on that. Film is fun as frick. Elgyn is based also and Call can be my gf.
The main thing that makes it so terrible is that it bypasses a perfectly good trilogy which had a very clear ending and resolution with a really stupid gimmick which effectively rips off Jurassic Park and doesn't even make sense when you really think about it. Where exactly are they supposed to have found tissue or genetic material which would allow them to clone aliens while at the same time producing quasi-Ripleys as a byproduct? I realize you could just make something up about how she left a bit of goo someplace but the premise of the film explicitly calls for some hybrid stuff that's part-alien, part-Ripley. And we don't really see that anything like that was left behind in the third picture. All because, like the company, all they care about is $$$ and they're not shy to beat a dead horse if they think it'll work.
Also it introduced the terrible, ugly word "quadrilogy" into the lexicon.
>Joss Whedon script
>I’m le surprised it’s le bad
Ok chudtard
Resurrection > 2 > 1 > 3 > dogshit > prometheus > covenant
Not the worst list i’ve seen.
Joss Whedon sucks wiener and not in a good way.
