This movie will probably end up costing between 400 to 500m by the time it's all said and done. Disney might be too big to fail, but if something could do it, it might be this.

What were they thinking?

They got overconfident and thought any Disney classic remake was a guaranteed billion+ money machine.

What's the deal with reshoots, do the actors renegotiate their contracts for more pay?

      Anonymous

There's usually a provision in the contract that they have to be available for a certain amount of possible reshoots but will get paid for the time. Big name actors will not accept that because they need to fill other commitments, but nobody in this is big enough to negotiate out of that.

Disney is huge, but also very overleveraged. They could collapse and split apart at a moments notice.

I imagine they’ll get into some financial trouble and sell off LucasFilms, Marvel, Pixar, and basically just keep their animation and park divisions.

I would pay good money to see the reactions of the 7 diversity hires when they found out they were being replaced by equally fricked up looking uncanny valley CGI monstrosities

Why do film execs STILL think social media backlash is real backlash? Like, some people complained on Twitter that the cast was Problematic so they’re gonna waste 100 million doing pointless CGI edits?

The problem is that there is a reason that snowwhite is surrounded by dwarves in the first place.
An important reason everybody understands even if they dont realise it, a chaste, beautiful young princess is surrounded by men who are not living up to their full potential, symbolically dwarves.
And she should hold out for a prince, someone who is truly on her level.
You cant just swap out the 7 dwarves for 7 black lesbians in wheelchairs without fundamentally altering what the story is about.

The fact they backpedaled on their "no dwarves" policy is so hilarious. Look at these CGI monstrosities. Think of the money they're sinking into this. Money that could have been saved by hiring fricking dwarves.

I really hope this movie does what the 60's cleopetra movie did to the industry.
make a high budget movie that no one watched, and it ended up bankruping Hollywood which was followed by a ton of low budget soulful movies like Taxi driver, or Raging bull

Snow White may very well end up doing to Disney what Cutthroat Island did to Carolco in the 90's. With as bad as 2023 has been for Disney a half billion dollar flop like this just might kill the studio. They desperately need some hit movies next year and honestly what do they really have?

They might as well do what Warner did with that Batwoman film and just delete the thing from existence for a tax right off. The backlash on this film is enormous and I just don't see how they can possibly salvage it into a profitable movie
