It’s a really depressing trend and not for the reasons you think. I wasn’t around for the first turtle movie, but I know for a lot of kids it was a big deal and holds a special place in their hearts even today and a big reason for that is studios weren’t afraid to strike while something was hot. The first TMNT movie came out while it was a huge cultural phenomenon. But today? We’re STILL getting the same TMNT, Star Wars, Transformers, Power Rangers and other decades old properties repackaged while new properties just sit and wait hoping to get some kind of big adaption. Imagine if CEOs weren’t giant pussies today? Imagine a Rick and Morty movie coming out instead of the awful season 3 or the Bobs Burgers movie coming out when normies gave a shit about it and the writing team still had some bite in them. The reason this movie is forgotten about so quickly is because we’ve seen this already. You can change up the design and twist their personalities a bit but it’s still just another TMNT movie. It honestly makes me sad that Disneys take away from The Marvels flopping wasn’t we should let creative people create and hope it hits like GOTG but that it needed MORE interference from a board of old farts that can’t even remember the 80s anymore. The 80s were great but seriously let them go. My God even Seth McFarlane agrees and he’s like the 80s pop culture club president.
Gen X’er here.
To be fair, while in the 80s and early 90s we were getting new stuff for us, like TMNT, Power Rangers, etc there were plenty of decades old properties being repackaged for us at the time, that had never went away:
Scooby Doo
Flintstones
Woody Woodpecker
Popeye
Pink Panther
Loony Tunes
Charlie Brown/Snoopy/Peanuts
So this is nothing new.
>all that shit
not reading it. You are not the target audience of newly made media. Whether it is a remake or not. Get over it.
Ah but you did read it.
Crawl back to ledddit troony
New IPs are risky, and new installment of an established franchise means you can draw in a new audience *while* possibly banking off of nostalgiagays
Might be for the best. Look at us, we're still in our childhoods because they were so fricking good. Everything sucks so hard these kids might grow up.
TMNT makes a frickload of modern money. But they are milking it with nostalgia, it's sort of why there is starting to be a lot of 90s nostalgia. Once that is gone, there really isn't much left.
quality is subjective, homosexual.
Marvel's explanation of lack of promotion is more plausible than your own ill-conceived definition of quality
>Spider-verse clone
>Nostalgia bait
>Forced racebait controversy
>Teen VAs marketed as some huge deal
That's a nah from me dawg
It wasn’t good at all either.
It was awful
>Come on, it wasn't bad at all
It wasn't that good either. It was a slightly different looking, but inferior version of the TMNT story that's been told a dozen times already.
They deliberately made April as gross and unappealing as possible and for that it deserves to be forgotten.
>Leo falls in love with her at first sight
This was so much worse
It's pretty racist that left refuse to make attractive black girls
It could have been worse
same body
>AYO RAT MAN
>ONE'A YER LIZARD KIDS CRASHED MY FRICKIN' SCOOTAH
I think the style was supposed to look kind of like sketches from a teenager's notebook. It's not like everyone else is hot and April is the only weird looking character. They all kind of have a scribbly odd look to them and I think it works
A teenager's sketches would look more aesthetically sexy than this shit, with x-shaped hourglasses and pointy breasts.
>A teenager's sketches
>more aesthetically sexy
kek
They made nearly everyone except the turtles as gross and unappealing as possible because they hired a shit-brained hipster homosexual to decide on the aesthetic for the entire movie. The turtles probably would have been just as lumpy as every other design in the movie if not for the advertisers telling them
"kids aren't going to buy that ugly shit"
The movie was great but the infinite content churn keeps turning. Anything short of an adolescent generation's defining piece of media like AtlA is going to come out, be enjoyed, and then fall into the back of peoples' minds as new shit comes out the next week. Plus, people have been used to TMNT coming and going for like 30 years.
Maybe it was forgotten because it was forgettable? You ever consider that?
I think you're making the same mistake so many other people made in thinking that any part of the TMNT concept as it has been executed for the last 40 or so years, has to be built on them being typical teenagers in any way. They aren't. They don't have to be. They work best when they lean into "mutant" "ninja" and "turtle" far more than "teenage" and anyone who says otherwise is a fricking moron who never liked the TMNT to begin with.
>anyone who says otherwise is a fricking moron who never liked the TMNT to begin with
Isn't that the point of this movie? Being successful with a demographic that otherwise would not have cared for this franchise in the same way the Star Wars prequels garnered a new audience of literal children?
If young and teen boys don't like the TMNT already, they're definitely not going to like a version of them that are bigger more obnoxious homosexuals who are being a bunch of weepy b***hes because they can't attend public school.
Have you seen this movie bud? It's right up your ally. The Turtles being annoying little clout obsessed TikTokTeens is a pretty big part of the film.
Yes it was.
The only Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie worth acknowledging is the original one.
Not using the MM designs for FortNite makes no sense. The ones the made make them look like war veterans after their first tour in the middle east. They cant be called TMNT, just MNT.
>The ones the made make them look like war veterans after their first tour in the middle east
What the actual frick are you talking about?
They're probably going to release some of these original designs with Lego Fortnite sets and goddammit do I want those Turtles.
Yeah probably, but they look fine. What the frick is that anon talking about with them looking like war veterans? They look like a good combo of several TMNT iterations. They look a hell of a lot better than Mutant Mayhem's shitty designs.
I actually can sort of see his point. They're more muscular than the Turtles have been in more recent media. Still good designs, and they look especially nice in Lego-form.
Nah, they can still be TMNT, Tactical Mutant Ninja Turtles.
rate the early script

Fortnite is getting a classic April skin
Fall Guys gets the Mutant Mayhem abomination
Clearly this freak will be forgotten.
I'm not gonna watch a Turtles thing with an ugly April. Didn't watch Rise, won't watch this.
Sorry, I'm just not gonna do it. Cope by calling me whatever names you like, I'll be playing Shredder's Revenge again.
>I'm not gonna watch a Turtles thing with an ugly April. Didn't watch Rise
FWIW she's in like 20% of the eps max. Shame people were turned off for Rise's numerous changes, it's legit good
tmnt has no staying power today
hot april or not
Considering it's been around in some form or another, continuously, for 4 decades, I'd say it has plenty of staying power. The real issue is that they've been mismanaged pretty badly for the last few years. The basic concept works great, but it falls apart when too many changes are made for the sake of being different and new.
constant reboots =/= staying power
Tell that to Marvel. Outside of Rise, TMNT had been very successful with series that ran for years uninterrupted and were each massively profitable for their time.
Something being largely forgettable doesn't exempt it from being good, like the one you posted
frick you I liked it. In fact I loved it.
So you have shit taste, that’s not really something to brag about.
Blackwashed = I refuse to watch, simple as
I unironically liked it more than the new Spider-Verse.
Did you like the new Spider-Verse?
Honestly I agree with you. I hope the next movie is even better, since the shredder design was the best one by far.
Same writers. Same production team. This time the studio won't let them waste 5 years circlejerking and restarting production over and over, so it will be even worse.
I didn't forget it. Is that what concerned you, OP?
