I prefer the idea that ma and pa kent instilled the idea into the grey alien that he looks like a human. he never changes his appearance and it is never addressed

You'd have Roger. He's at least as Fast as Superman, and while not as indestructible he's survived some crazy shit.

Why are alien greys so underrated? More media should have them.

Their very nature is boring and generic. They're literally featureless grey blobs to exemplify the idea of how otherly and nondescript they are. There's no real way to make them "your own" so it's usually more fun to try and do your own ayy than just a grey.

I disagree. They may be relatively featureless but what they represent is so cool, their iconic, but because they're so mysterious and featureless, they can just as easily be a menacing, unknown force who are plotting something nefarious against humanity, or they can be benevolent aliens who are watching out for us.

I love creators creating their own ayys but greys should see more use imo.

Theres a one shot comic like that. Can't remember where I read it.

Basically when a couple Kansas rednecks find the ship and see its a grey, they light it on fire.

The Metropolitan Man did this, Kryptonians were spider/eel creatures and Superman is just a humanoid construct based on his ship scanning Earth

Long, long ago, in the distant land of /tg/ we actually came up with a setting that was a fusion of cosmic horror and capeshit.
I remember that the Superman analogue was some elder thing looking alien with all of the usual Superman powers. the twist is that it was still raised by a kindly farmer couple (hidden in their barnyard away from curious eyes) so it still had the same boyscout personality as regular Superman and wanted to help people even if it was feared by the public and hunted by the military
Man, I should try to find that thread again there was some cool shit in there.
