LoTR was fine, everyone has some complaints but in the end they were alright for what they were
Peter Jackson fricked Hobbit up so bad its fricking unbearable to watch and i dont understand how anyone can like it. Even if you didnt read the books, the go-pro barrel scene, legolass defying physics, his made-up shit love interest, Martin Freemens annoying ass fricking b***h boy stammering constantly, and not to mention such amazing lines as "These bats were bred for 1 thing... WAR". Bravo Peter.

M4 cut makes the trilogy into one great movie.

Maple Films edit was pretty good. No amount of editing could salvage the material from film 3 tho.
I've seen a couple different one-film versions that were decently well made. usually they cut the whole sauron / white council subplot, tauriel+legolas, and most of the mindless non-canon action scenes, which gets you down to a tidy 3-ish hours without losing anything of value.
but to s point, none of them are really good even with edits. there's just too many key scenes that were done crappily. thorin's greed and deathbed scene is particularly egregious, you just lose the whole heart of the story.
yeah, agree. it's not perfect but it stands the test of time well enough.
it's kinda staggering that the PJ movies failed to improve on this in really any way. again, cartoon is very far from perfect, it's really just a stopgap. improving on it *should* have been trivial. but holy crap did they screw that pooch.
It probably would have worked out fine if it were just 1 movie. I read about company-jackson shit kinda forced him to turn it into 3 films and to get fat Orlando Bloom back cus >omg hes from the other movies too!!! but that doesnt absolve him of still fricking it up so badly.

M4 edit is pretty kino, weakest being the battle of 5 armies where so much shit had to be cut and continuity forced leaving in some of Hackson's work

One of the key things a lot of the fan edits fail to see is that the film version kind of needs Azog in that featured antagonist roll. You should also split it into two movies as was originally intended.
well he doesnt have a single line of diolouge and only shows up 1 time in the book so ig thats why people omit his shit.
Thranduil is the first minor antagonist, and Smaug is THE antagonist and Azog just frickin comes in last minute.
