There’s a million fricking things I could say about this show, and I have, obviously, but its insidiousness stretches way deeper than just being a disingenuous ‘HANG IN THERE!! :)’ sticker. Smiling Friends struck a chord of anger with a lot of people for a very real set of reasons. People don’t understand why people get angry at this show and at Zach because they haven’t suffered through the set of traumas necessary to understand why its attitudes are so fricked up and ignorant. I might need to write an essay on this or something. The reason I even made that image a year ago was because I saw a chance for a specific group of voiceless and alienated people to feel a little less lonely and to get them to realize this board’s cultural frog was being boiled. Clearly it didn’t help much.
