I doubt the actual game ever released in universe since it's cursed as all shit. Maybe the ad was programmed to sometimes appear if there was a finished product? Or maybe it's advertising to (You), the viewer, and their suffering is literally for our entertainment.

I think it wouldn't make much sense to have a TV-style infomercial 'call now' ad in a video game. Pop-up ads, sure, but the ad which appeared was formatted not as an ad you'd see online but as one you'd see on air.
Like, if it seemed like in-game product placement or was styled after ye olde banner ads or looked like it was riddled with hyperlinks I'd believe it was diagetic, but I think it's just a gag in this case.

So here are my theories regarding the lore, be warned it is a long blog post no one asked for.
First some facts we know so far:
Caine is the creator of this digital world and someone from the "outside world".
This is made apparent by the fact that he knows how the real world looks and feels (I'm referring to the spaces he keeps hidden from the rest of the toons, the office space and the restaurant).
Watching the whackywatch video it seems the approach to this universe is similar to the "analog horror" stories where some experimental spooky technology traps people inside the game.
Pomni knows Caine from the outside world, seeming as she has a schizo outbreak when she sees his empty desk in the backroom.
My theories:
The story follows a typical creepy pasta approach and the cursed game traps and slowly feeds from random people who stumble upon the spooky unlabeled CD with a weird experimental VR game from the 90s. Pomni is a friend of Caine and after finding out about the game she goes looking for him to free everyone.
The story follows a sci-fi theme and the digital circus is a prison created by Caine for some secret mkultra-like project, everyone are test subjects who either willingly or unwillingly decided to participate and have their memories erased, Pomni also worked with Caine in this experiment and snuck into the game to free everyone, since unknowingly to the participants, the program has the potential side effect of turning people insane.
The story doesn't give much weight to the lore and the digital world is just the work of a lonely programmer whose only friends were digital, so he made a game where he could Isekai himself into, he published the game online and other mentally unstable people have since joined him, until a girl found about it and trapped herself too.
So what do you think? Did I miss something or got something wrong? What are your theories?

Here is what we know for shure:
-Caine is allpowerfull but unwilling or unable to free everyone. High chance to be "just" an AI like the bubble or other NPCs.

-Inside the office of "C&A" is a old or burned PC (or becouse we dont see the case an apple PC) with an equal odd looking VR right next to the printers and some radio equipment.
-We know they are traped inside said computer after they used the headset.
My theroy: One of the employees of C&A has a VR pet-project and asked our heros to test the game or even donate there brainscans.
The orignal is, in my view, healthy and fine and unaware that a copy of themself is made and/or suffering.
Solong in the upcoming episodes dont give us more detail we are unable to pinpoint where this is going.
I put my money of the horrors we have seen in the game of Soma and Bedlam. People donate there brainscean only to find "themself" being traped in digital hell.
It makes little sense that Caine is just an AI, why would he spend time doing such mundane things as having dinner in a hidden realistic restaurant? Why would he model the "Exit" space after some offices?
This all seem to be more like the kind of things that a real person with more recollection of things from the outside world would be trying to emulate, it seems as if he was trying to replicate some of his memories inside the simulation. Also during the whackywatch video, the presenter in the real world asks Caine (assumed to be the person watching) to "look at what he created" before showing images of the show on the monitor.
An AI from a book might be an inspiration, but that doesn't mean Caine is also the same kind of AI.

He's an AI. Offices are all that he knows about the outside world, and if you look at the final exit that Pomni goes through, it's the one sitting directly across from the computer. It's a fire escape that he constantly stared at and had no clue that it led to the real outdoors because no one ever used it. So it just led to a final exit before the void.

Digital copies of real people never made sense to me. If a clone of me is created why would we share the same consciousness? The most logical thing to me is I go my merry way, the clone is stuck in hell. Same reason I never understood Roko's Basilisk

For Jax's repeated crimes and rhymes against the Circus, Caine subjects Jax to 1 hour of the penis music room. Nothing is actually forcing him to stay in the penis music room and he can leave at any time but he doesn't know that.
Alice was lost. Alice wasn't trapped eternally in Wonderland. Wonderland did not have a kind but imbecilic god tending to it. Wonderland did not threaten to turn you into a monster when you could not take it anymore.
It's not just a fun afternoon trip to a kind of neat, kind of scary place.
Also it's not anything like Undertale, the comparisons are specifically for Deltarune with the Cyber World and Spamton.
Eh both Alice and Circus are about a girl who is send to another world where almost all characters are based on random objects and completely random nosense events happen, both Alice and Pomni are constantly freaked out by everything and unable to accept how crazy the world is (Disney Alice is ridiculously chill for some reason), both share a premise that every character is insane. Alice didn't know if she could ever leave the Wonderland as well. Jax who is her de facto main sidekick is a mix of the rabbit and cheshire. Pomni described it as a dream and Caine described it as a world of wonders.
I think it's closer to Alice than any of those recent shows to the point you could easily claim Goose was just inspired by the novel without any modern piece of media influence.
But really, every single Isekai was Inspired by Wonderland and Oz, just like every single Isekai fantasy from Konosuba and Amphibia is just Narnia all over again.

I wouldn't say Pomni is 100% positive considering she only solved the thing accidentally and tried to leave everyone in the circus to their own luck as soon as she found the door. Gangle and Zooble were also pretty useless through the whole Gloink mission as well, so I don't see what makes the females "better" than the males in this case. Pretty much only Ragatha behaved decently.

An inspiring hero should overcome relatable struggles. Jesus rejects temptation, Frodo overcomes his fear, et cetera. In the pursuit of the vague idea of a "strong woman", people have thrown away every technique they would use to write good male characters. They've rushed through a bunch of plastic Mary Sues whose struggles are exclusively caused by other people or barely exist at all ("self-doubt" is a valid internal conflict but doesn't work when the character has no apparent reason to doubt themselves"). Rey Skywalker would not be any better of a character if she were a man.
Unsurprisingly, you give women characters who are relatable and flawed, and they latch onto them. Every girl in Chainsawman is some combination of dysfunctional moron and psychopath, and they're inescapably popular. Pomni is a nervous wreck, and lo and behold, anxiety-ridden young people love her.
They don't need to eat but they can get the digital sensation of eating, so I think they are able to get digital sleep accordingly, in just the form of "let's stop moving and thinking for a bit".
I imagine they can sleep to disconnect for a while, but they don't really need to do it. Same with eating.

No one would be happy with that. Kinger is a popular character and his VA is industry grade being in shit like Zelda Breath of the Wild/Genshin Impact and him suddenly having a different voice after the pilot would leave a terrible taste, plus leaving those Genshin kids with a taste of power.
It's scary how good this tactic is and how complex the effects are even though anyone can do it, because people first reaction is to be in a neutral stance, then they find out the edgy jokes so they end up with an overall negative view on him and refuse to drop the suspicion on the other accusations so in any scenario the person doing it will win something. What if the Exit simply recreated everyone's last memory before getting trapped? Like the office wasn't just a generic office, it was abandoned and showed signs of being ransacked. Pomni didn't understand what was going on at first, so she couldn't have known what putting on the "weird headset" would have done. Also she clearly had some kind of reaction to seeing that computer and headset again more than the usual freakout.

I think it wouldn't make much sense to have a TV-style infomercial 'call now' ad in a video game. Pop-up ads, sure, but the ad which appeared was formatted not as an ad you'd see online but as one you'd see on air.

So here are my theories regarding the lore, be warned it is a long blog post no one asked for.
First some facts we know so far:
Caine is the creator of this digital world and someone from the "outside world".
This is made apparent by the fact that he knows how the real world looks and feels (I'm referring to the spaces he keeps hidden from the rest of the toons, the office space and the restaurant).
Watching the whackywatch video it seems the approach to this universe is similar to the "analog horror" stories where some experimental spooky technology traps people inside the game.
Pomni knows Caine from the outside world, seeming as she has a schizo outbreak when she sees his empty desk in the backroom.
My theories:
The story follows a typical creepy pasta approach and the cursed game traps and slowly feeds from random people who stumble upon the spooky unlabeled CD with a weird experimental VR game from the 90s. Pomni is a friend of Caine and after finding out about the game she goes looking for him to free everyone.
The story follows a sci-fi theme and the digital circus is a prison created by Caine for some secret mkultra-like project, everyone are test subjects who either willingly or unwillingly decided to participate and have their memories erased, Pomni also worked with Caine in this experiment and snuck into the game to free everyone, since unknowingly to the participants, the program has the potential side effect of turning people insane.
The story doesn't give much weight to the lore and the digital world is just the work of a lonely programmer whose only friends were digital, so he made a game where he could Isekai himself into, he published the game online and other mentally unstable people have since joined him, until a girl found about it and trapped herself too.
So what do you think? Did I miss something or got something wrong? What are your theories?

-Inside the office of "C&A" is a old or burned PC (or becouse we dont see the case an apple PC) with an equal odd looking VR right next to the printers and some radio equipment.
-We know they are traped inside said computer after they used the headset.
My theroy: One of the employees of C&A has a VR pet-project and asked our heros to test the game or even donate there brainscans.
The orignal is, in my view, healthy and fine and unaware that a copy of themself is made and/or suffering.
Solong in the upcoming episodes dont give us more detail we are unable to pinpoint where this is going.
I put my money of the horrors we have seen in the game of Soma and Bedlam. People donate there brainscean only to find "themself" being traped in digital hell.
It makes little sense that Caine is just an AI, why would he spend time doing such mundane things as having dinner in a hidden realistic restaurant? Why would he model the "Exit" space after some offices?
This all seem to be more like the kind of things that a real person with more recollection of things from the outside world would be trying to emulate, it seems as if he was trying to replicate some of his memories inside the simulation. Also during the whackywatch video, the presenter in the real world asks Caine (assumed to be the person watching) to "look at what he created" before showing images of the show on the monitor.
An AI from a book might be an inspiration, but that doesn't mean Caine is also the same kind of AI.
Nobody calls GLaDOS not an AI, despite Caroline.

He's an AI. Offices are all that he knows about the outside world, and if you look at the final exit that Pomni goes through, it's the one sitting directly across from the computer. It's a fire escape that he constantly stared at and had no clue that it led to the real outdoors because no one ever used it. So it just led to a final exit before the void.

Eh both Alice and Circus are about a girl who is send to another world where almost all characters are based on random objects and completely random nosense events happen, both Alice and Pomni are constantly freaked out by everything and unable to accept how crazy the world is (Disney Alice is ridiculously chill for some reason), both share a premise that every character is insane. Alice didn't know if she could ever leave the Wonderland as well. Jax who is her de facto main sidekick is a mix of the rabbit and cheshire. Pomni described it as a dream and Caine described it as a world of wonders.
I think it's closer to Alice than any of those recent shows to the point you could easily claim Goose was just inspired by the novel without any modern piece of media influence.
There is a strong Wizard of Oz influence as well
But really, every single Isekai was Inspired by Wonderland and Oz, just like every single Isekai fantasy from Konosuba and Amphibia is just Narnia all over again.

I wouldn't say Pomni is 100% positive considering she only solved the thing accidentally and tried to leave everyone in the circus to their own luck as soon as she found the door. Gangle and Zooble were also pretty useless through the whole Gloink mission as well, so I don't see what makes the females "better" than the males in this case. Pretty much only Ragatha behaved decently.

In the pursuit of the vague idea of a "strong woman", people have thrown away every technique they would use to write good male characters. They've rushed through a bunch of plastic Mary Sues whose struggles are exclusively caused by other people or barely exist at all ("self-doubt" is a valid internal conflict but doesn't work when the character has no apparent reason to doubt themselves"). Rey Skywalker would not be any better of a character if she were a man.
Unsurprisingly, you give women characters who are relatable and flawed, and they latch onto them. Every girl in Chainsawman is some combination of dysfunctional moron and psychopath, and they're inescapably popular. Pomni is a nervous wreck, and lo and behold, anxiety-ridden young people love her.
So Ragatha days they don't need sleep, but it's still nice to have a routine. Can they actually sleep, or do they just pretend to be asleep?
They don't need to eat but they can get the digital sensation of eating, so I think they are able to get digital sleep accordingly, in just the form of "let's stop moving and thinking for a bit".

No one would be happy with that. Kinger is a popular character and his VA is industry grade being in shit like Zelda Breath of the Wild/Genshin Impact and him suddenly having a different voice after the pilot would leave a terrible taste, plus leaving those Genshin kids with a taste of power.

It would've required almost the entire pilot's plot to be rewritten, but I think it would've been WAY funnier if Kaufmo's abstraction was cut out of the pilot entirely and his only appearance in the entire runtime of the show was "Disclaimer: Kaufmo the Clown didn't show up today" at the start of every single episode.
He's definitely there in the circus, he just never shows up for an episode.

What if the Exit simply recreated everyone's last memory before getting trapped? Like the office wasn't just a generic office, it was abandoned and showed signs of being ransacked. Pomni didn't understand what was going on at first, so she couldn't have known what putting on the "weird headset" would have done. Also she clearly had some kind of reaction to seeing that computer and headset again more than the usual freakout.
