    That it will be shit

This. It will be le edgy internet cartoon that probably would have blown minds back in 2010. It will be a success because people have already made up their minds they like it, but this is basically going to be a poppee the performer ripoff that pushes the violence envelope a bit further.

        Anonymous

It's too early to say anything for certain. I'm often pretty cynical when it comes to these indie shows, but I can't help but like the direction this is going in.
It seems like a show run by committed individuals with a vision for what they're doing.
If it stays away from the "le edgy violence and swearing" to make something genuinely deranged and left of field, I could see it being very good.

Cinemaphile is only good for having the most cynical takes on anything at all hours of the day.
So I guess you fit right in, except for in regards to this show.

I’ll admittedly be impressed if the show feels smart. From the little we’ve seen and heard about this, I get the impression it’s going to rely heavily on shock value. It’s basically a bunch of beings trapped in a surreal space being made to endure horrible things. I hope there’s more to it than a ‘pit and the pendulum’ type deal. That trope has been done to death.

            Anonymous

The showrunner pitched it as "I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream with the visuals of an I-Spy book" so I have hopes that it will be at least somewhat clever.
From an initial viewing of the few sources,
Considering we have seen several characters get stuck with knives without any apparent feeling of pain, alongside the inherently bizarre and incorporeal designs of some of them, it would seem to suggest that they aren't going to be subject to anything so simple as pain or torture.
This also means they can't die, though.
Furthermore, the Teeth guys intentions seem to not be inherently malicious. He did not try to throw knives into the jester in the teaser, if his dialogue is to be believed
Of course, he is still holding people forcibly, and doing something to their minds that makes them forget their names, so there's that.
The horror part seems to be more taken from them being ripped from their regular existences to live forever in an unchanging, colour saturated realm created by an utterly alien creature which doesn't know enough about humans beyond them liking fun and games to create a world which doesn't drive them completely insane.
Or it could be like that one Star Trek episode of Black Mirror, where the developer downloaded copies of real life people into his own private video game.
And did not so very nice things to them if they didn't play along with his fantasies.

Gooseworx never relied on shock value in her previous animations, you're making some wild assumptions. I recommend you watch them to get an idea of her style of humor, honestly I'd be surprised if it ends up being overly bitter or violent.

Side note: I'm not even gonna watch the show. Based on the trailer it fits into the genre of things I find irritating to watch. I just like pomni because of my clown obsession even though she's not exactly a clown and more like a clown themed puppet.

      What?

        Anonymous

Haven't watched the trailer or anything so wasn't sure

From what I can tell the jester character is the main character in the sense that she(?) is the most recent addition to the titular Digital Circus
All of the rest of the cast are similarly trapped, and would assumedly carry a prominent role. I'd imagine the one called Jax will be especially important, due to him being voiced by the VA for Lackadaisy and Murder Drones, and the doll one, considering it is responsible for the main expository dump.
The exception is the teeth guy.
He would seem to be the ringmaster/ one who put them there and thus, the arbiter of whatever wacky hijinks and horrors await them.

        Neat. Looking forward to it.

No clue. I absolutely fricking love Gooseworx's work. Elain, Darly Boxman and the like have this bizaro factor that is incredibly funny to me so I am hoping for more of that. I know it is going to be more story focused than his other stuff though so that could make or break it.

the funny part is Goose is probably the one trans person who doesn't lose her shit about people misgendering her. It's also interesting how gender identity isn't big part of Goose's actual identity per se, you rarely see that narrative in her work.

            >either give me an answer
i mean, you need a long healthy build up for a mystery to be fulfilling. The "pretending" is usually the build up. If you want immediate answers you're a complete moron.
Now if the shows ends in a confusing way, then you have all right to call it out for it, but you can't know that till the thing is done.

            Anonymous

Gooseworx animations aren't mysterious at all, anon. They just take place in a weird and silly world. If you watch Elain or Ghost of the Year and think "What is the deeper meaning behind this?" then I am afraid you might be moronic.

              Anonymous

what makes you so certain that there isn't a deeper meaning? you wouldn't look at something like DHMIS and say "there's no deeper meaning, this is entirely surface level", i presume

                Anonymous

DHMIS has clear themes from the first episode of the web series about the banality of children's programing and how creativity in children isn't as encouraged as it should be.
Elain has a silly triangle lady doing wacky slapstick things.
I am sure Amazing Digital Circus will be a lot deeper but Gooseworx's current catalog shouldn't really confuse anyone.

Agreed and even more quality indie stuff is great for animation in general. Say what you want about lackadaisy, MD, helluva etc but at least it offers an alternative to networkslop which has been a total let down for years. Does anyone else feel like Pomni's design is like, way better than every other character?
She's skirting the edge of viziepop overdesign but not quite crossing it. But she makes all the other characters except the ringmaster dude look super bland by comparison.

      Anonymous

Maybe design-wise, but at the same time, the animation helps elevate the others. I still love the effect of Ragatha's mouth not really opening or closing, but refracting light to serve as teeth.
Someone also said that despite how different they look, they all still have consistent elements that make them fit together, like how most of the characters have identical hands.

      Anonymous

I actually get you. As far as visuals go this doesn't seem to have a ton of appeal. Pomni is the most put together because it's a jester and it clearly reads "sad little jester". The king is alright, I get "fake king" or "simpleton king" out of it. The ringleader is good - giant mechanical teeth imply the dude's a talker.

But I'm not feeling the others. The rabbit's a badguy I guess but eh... not seeing it. Ragatha's a ragdoll. Not really sure what I'm reading there.

The sets look bland. The whole thing looks cheap, and it might be due to how bad Youtube is for this kind of content. Like there's zero, ZERO guarantee it'll show it to anyone, especially if it only appeals to a niche audience.

Hasbin was lucky it was accessible to enough people to still get viewers. Monkeywrench looked good but the writing and sound wasn't there and it's hardcore bombing when you look at production costs. What even else is there recently...?

Oh, uh, I guess Worthikids is doing good, but each episode is short and affordable so there's less risk.

Anyway point is Goose's show looks cheap and that might be because it's going to be cheap.

Does anyone else feel like Pomni's design is like, way better than every other character?
She's skirting the edge of viziepop overdesign but not quite crossing it. But she makes all the other characters except the ringmaster dude look super bland by comparison.

From a narrative standpoint, I can appreciate the designs. Their being forced into blatantly fake, ugly, nonsensical bodies appeals to me far more than if they were something more "cool" - in light of the sadistic nature of the circus.
The appearance of the Digital circus also equally sells the bizzarre, artificial nature of the setting, with the unwavering artificial lighting and plastic-y primary colours a constant reminder of the confines.
However, from a non-contextual aesthetic standpoint, these are not good choices. If you show the art to someone unaware of the "Trapped in an early 2000s hellscape" premise and tell them what they think, they will tell you it is not attractive.

yeah a lot of the characters designs are going to come down to how well they are animated it is a 2d animator put in a 3d showrunner position a lot of 2d stuff gets weird with more direct ports murder drones had the same issues and it looks like gooses answer was to let the animator have a lot of say on the designs pomni and caine are the only ones could call gooseworx designs just from sight (maybe zooble or kinger) and loosing one of your edges of distinctive designs right off the bat not a good sign.
its not a killshot on its own though again really gonna come down to animation quality and the trailer does look good for that at least shows strength is gonna be really dependent on its writing and animation and goose does not really have the kind of track record liam does for longer projects and low budget indie does not scream great confidence for keeping high animation quality digital circus may be a really good movie pitch but plenty of cracks that could get bad in a longer show.

          >2d animator put in a 3d showrunner position a lot of 2d stuff gets weird with more direct ports murder drones had the same issues
Murder Drones pulls it off really well though? And they completely avoid the potential uncanny valley situation of 3D humans by making humans shadowed-out in the Drones' memories. I don't recall any of the issues you are referencing being prevalent in Murder Drones - apart fron the slightly janky mocap in some parts of the Pilot (which they since stopped using).

            Anonymous

yes because murder drones had a way better transfer of liams 2d style to 3d than goose's style got.
a lot of the design choices for the drones were made explicitly to help transfer liams style to 3d.
try to imagine that signature psycho grin on a somewhat proportional human try rendering a human skin tone too and it just gets freaky.
the murder drones designs have a way better ability to stand on their own while the adc designs are more dependent on how they get animated and need more cartoony exaggerations to make them work.
while that does not mean they can not work or even excel once put through their paces it does give a bit more room for failure

              >murder drones had a way better transfer of liams 2d style to 3d than goose's style got
I don't know if the onus can be put on Glitch for that. Liam's style lends itself to transferring to 3d a lot better than Goose's. Liam's characters exist as physical beings that have a sense of functional anatomy which is a bit easier to translate since they make sense. Goose's style works really well for 2d, but when a character is made up of a rectangle and a triangle that aren't even really overtly connected in any specific way, it poses more challenges.

I could see that being the point, however. It's entirely possible (and highly likely) that the impossibility of the character designs and their overt cartoonishness is done on purpose. It seems to fit the somewhat shitty cgi aesthetic of the early 90s. I'd be surprised if nickelodeon bumpers from the 90's weren't a huge influence on this.

The initial rationale behind using robots was to get around the problems of translating Liam's style into 3D.
TADC probably has a similar practical concept behind its designs (with the added bonus of the analog children's video aesthetic making rendering and postprocessing easier), but it remains to be seen whether those can be set into motion in a way that will be pleasant to watch for an entire series, and not as a "it's supposed to be low-quality" sense.

Cast of characters gets forcibly transported out of their daily lives onto a Plane in another dimension by a talking voice in the sky.
It's not quite the same because, to spare you the drama and spoilers I couldn't fit in that synopsis, TADC has made it very clear that nobody is leaving for a second, and that it's going to go way deeper into the psychological horror aspect of identity loss.

All they have in common is the production studio. The showrunning/writing for both is done by outsiders. And given the lead time required to produce a show, there wasn't much potential for cross-pollination; when TADC was announced (well after it was approved/put into pre-production), only two episodes of Murder Drones had been released.

Horny is, indeed, a powerful fuel for artistic pursuits. But fuel is only a part of fire triangle. For example, I'm extremely horny, and I see several unfilled niches in disgusting pornography that I can fill. But every time I try to develop an artistic skill, I fizzle out within weeks. I have the fuel and the heat, but I lack oxygen. Things are not so simple.

That's the issue. You are aware of the niche, but that isn't YOUR niche. You must understand your actual niche and just what you see is lacking in supply in the market.

But Anon, it IS my niche. There are things that I want to see that barely exist, if at all. And I don't really care about the supply or the market. I have no issue with making something for a small audience as long as it's something that I want to like. I've already done that once, in fact (pic related).

His stuff is weird but it usually has a sense of humor about it despite the serious subject matter and deadpan persona he puts on. For example Twin Peaks is a horror mystery but it is also a parody of cheesy soap operas.

Everyone agrees MD's pilot is is the roughest episode, it's good but has its obvious flaws that are ironed out by the later episodes. I think Goose is just nervous, she has to live up to the standard MD has set afterall - I hope nobody is expecting an instant masterpiece. The pilot episode of a show should ALWAYS be the worst out of the lot, good enough to attract an audience but nobody is expecting perfection. MD learned the lessons from its pilot well and became a better show through it, I hope Goose takes some notes from that and doesn't fumble it.

To become a good artist, you must accept your harmless degenerate tendencies. If you have none, its either you are lying or you need some self-discovery. Next is you share that degeneracy with others to create a demand. Once your degeneracy gains enough traction, normies will flood for you to normalize or "understand" your taste.

The entire basic premise presented at the start is a lie. Humanity is scattered across space and has nothing to do with what's happening in the story at the moment. Instead the main cast are all being manipulated by some kind of malevolent ai that destroyed earth and seemingly either wants to infect or wipe out the drones.

Ahhhhhhhh... I see. So they're essentially unknowingly playing right into this psuedomalware's hands.
And I presume Cyn is the rogue AI, or at least someone we know was infected early.

The AbsoluteSolver is more than just a rogue AI, it's some sort of eldritch entity manifesting within Drone AI. The Solver itself implies that Worker Drones are innately connected to the AbsoluteSolver in some way, as it considers Drones to be "our cute little puppets". It's not simply some infection, virus or malware. It's a malevolent entity leaking into the physical universe THROUGH the cores of drones, which is why drone cores need to be properly destroyed when Worker Dromes are disassembled. Cyn became the Solver's host back on Earth for this very reason.

That much, I get. N, V, and Uzi, three main lovably-insufferable teenager goobers who are trying to decapitate the honchos of a interplanetary manufacturing conglomerate.

But then, if you recall, there was a third murder drone, who apparently turned into some material-collecting, hologram-producing monster offscreen for reasons I don't really understand.

And what's with the strange other bot from the mansion in N and V's memory sequence who we never see again? Name is Cyn, apparently?
Cyn was a worker drone in the Elliot Manor that was recovered by Tessa from the scrapyard just like J, V and N. The Elliot's had a habit of breaking their drones regularly for the smallest of mistakes, and tended to throw them out into the scrapyard without disposing of them properly, which very rarely leads to improperly disposed of drones "waking up" from death due to the Zombie Drones phenomenon. When drones would reboot in the scrapyard, Tessa would take them back into the Manor and fix them up before keeping them as pets. Very, VERY rarely, a rebooting zombie drone will wake up with the "Absolute Solver" manifesting within them - with the malevolent entity offering them a bargain to let it into their systems. This is what happened to Cyn, as we see at the start of Episode 5. She awoke at the bottom of a pile of drone corpses in the scrapyard, with a message and offer from the AbsoluteSolver. From this point on, Cyn became a host to the Solver - which kicks off the events of the massacre at the Elliot Manor and the eventual destruction of Earth.

Having control over repair Daemons/Services is clearly not common, having genuine fear of death isn't even common. Worker drones that avoid death as an instinctual reaction prevents needless losses in hazardous environments. They hardly give a shit about a handful of them getting clapped every once in a while, just so long as there isn't a risk of the whole population being wiped out.
It's not eldritch, just an AI that ceased to (or never did) exist within the confines of a single drone. Using distributed computing, it is able to become exponentially smarter than any individual drone. It is hard to hijack them, but it needs them infected or their raw materials collected to regrow on this exoplanet.
It's not coming from another dimension, it's just dormant in a handful of the infected.
It's much easier to offer salvation to a broken drone in need of repair in exchange for access than it is to force direct access into any living/scared/distrusting one. Privileged accounts differ from service accounts differ from system accounts, so it's working with whatever it's got.

There are two things known as singularities: the infinitely dense point in the center of a black hole, and the acceleration point where technological progress becomes uncontrollable and a super intelligence is created.

You might need to do some rewatches of Murder Drones, because you seem to have missed out on some crucial information that you didn't notice / put together. Rewatch and pay attention, don't be afraid to pause and examine details that pop up and try to put together whatever clues are shown.

Your entire understanding of the show hinges around understanding that the Absolute Solver is the antagonist of the show. It is introduced in Episode 2, and is the entity responsible for the Eldritch J abomination that shows up in that episode. The Absolute Solver is NOT just a rogue, malfunctioning AI. The show shows us that it is something much more, and it's implied to be some sort of outer eldritch force that is manifesting into the physical universe through the AI of Worker Drones.

As of the current arc, they are attempting to get off their current planet, right? But isn't Earth destroyed, for similar vague reasons? So where are they going?

      [...]
      [...]

You might need to do some rewatches of Murder Drones, because you seem to have missed out on some crucial information that you didn't notice / put together. Rewatch and pay attention, don't be afraid to pause and examine details that pop up and try to put together whatever clues are shown.

It's absolutely just a rogue AI, what are you on about?

The latter being a concept attributed to von Neumann, who also gave us the first description of what is now called a von Neumann Probe, which is a self-replicating spacecraft.
We have gotten references to both forms of singularities so far in the show, so they may be tied somehow, or it may just be sci-fi wizardry for the fun of it. We've yet to find out if the magic hand/eye is distinct from the repair nanobot shits.
Point is, the show has intentionally tried to stay rooted in Sci and only apes the tropes of Fantasy for stylistic design.

As an aside, the book "We Are Legion (We Are Bob)" is quite a fun read. Would recommend.

No, it fricking isn't. It calls itself the The Solver of the Absolute Fabric, The Void, The Exponential End. It can manipulate matter, it can click singularities into existence, it wants to destroy the universe. It has extremely similar qualities to other eldritch / outer-universal entities that show up in Liam Vickers' previous works, mainly the Left Hands from Design and the Internecion Cubes from Internecion Cube - both of which are shown and stated repeatedly to be eldritch forces beyond the scope of the normal universe. Nothing shown about the AbsoluteSolver demonstrates it to just be an AI that's gone rogue, the elements of it that are taken from Liam's previous work are just extra context clues that help to understand what is going on. It even tells Uzi that she's wrong when she asks whether it's a program, telling her "more like you are our cute puppets". Notice how in the recent episode, when telling N about the Solver and how it destroyed Earth, Tessa very explicitly says
          >"We know it mutates in damaged AI."
          >"It took Cyn as a host, and then it took everything."
          >"The Humans here saw what was happening at home, thought they could understand it. All they did was SPREAD it."
          >"I'm here to find which Drones were infected, when we get to the labs and find that list I'll need you to choose the Universe over one little Drone N.. before she's not herself anymore."
Weird things to say about "just an AI" right? Nothing you are saying really makes any sense, considering the Solver has shown multiple times to be able to completely ignore the laws of physics. You're also ignoring the fact that something if very obviously off about the cores of all Drones themselves, considering Humans already know it's dangerous to improperly dispose of them - we know the Solver "comes through" from the other side with Drones that reboot from death because we've literally seen it happen with Cyn.

All in all, you clearly haven't seen Liam's other works.

It wasn't created by humans, its using drone AI as its hosts.

It's been made very clear that the Absolute Solver wasn't created by humans, humans don't even understand what it is and were experimenting on drones in Cabin Fever Labs to get it to manifest.
                >why does "liam vickers has included eldritch entities in his previous work" mean "liam vickers can't include an eldritch entity with mundane origins in his current work"?
You clearly haven't seen Liam's previous work, so how would you even know? If you were familiar, you'd be able to clearly see how MD is a culmination of many of Liam's ideas from his unfinished works like Design and Internecion Cube. Absolute Solver literally combines elements from the Left Hands in Design (an eldritch interdimensional parasite that takes humans as a host, giving them supernatural reality-manipulating abilities before it slowly kills them and subsumes their identity, being essentially a walking corpse puppeted by an eldritch parasite that believes it is the original host) and the Cubes from Internecion Cube, biomechanical eldritch matter-assimilating entities tricked into believing they are human-created machines that are weapons of mass destruction, with the cubes being split-up essences of a large cosmic entity.

Why are you talking about any of this like you know what you're on about when you clearly don't?

But then, if you recall, there was a third murder drone, who apparently turned into some material-collecting, hologram-producing monster offscreen for reasons I don't really understand.
And what's with the strange other bot from the mansion in N and V's memory sequence who we never see again? Name is Cyn, apparently?
As of the current arc, they are attempting to get off their current planet, right? But isn't Earth destroyed, for similar vague reasons? So where are they going?

      [...]
      [...]
The entire basic premise presented at the start is a lie. Humanity is scattered across space and has nothing to do with what's happening in the story at the moment. Instead the main cast are all being manipulated by some kind of malevolent ai that destroyed earth and seemingly either wants to infect or wipe out the drones.

      [...]
      [...]
      [...]

I created a little thing to help you understand what's going on, give it a read if you are interested.
      >picrel

This is (probably) exactly why we didn't get a Murder Drones Episode 7 teaser. You types would completely drown out the launch of TADC if there were one and Glitch doesn't want that.

You won't get the story discussion at all until you watch the shows, spoilers are inconsequential. When you watch the show you'll have to put together what's going on in your head anyway, and probably end up asking questions here if you missed anything. I wouldn't get peeved over it, it's literally a none issue.

Independent music has never been more abundantly available in history that it is right now. The shit on the radio is made to appeal to the widest margin of the most generic chunk of the population. Dig a little and you’ll find plenty of music that isn’t about the same old shit.

      Seems unlikely.
I don't even think there has ever been a black person in a Gooseworx cartoon.

The problem with having the thread focused solely on TADC is that TADC hasn't actually come out yet, so there's a distinct lack of things to talk about. You can hardly be surprised that the discussion will drift.

Many such cases of spergs being introduced to something by a blatantly incorrect MatPat video, unfortunately. I'm worried how he's going to butcher ADC if it's any bit as popular as MD.

Oh yeah, it's so annoyed how in such short time the MD fandom got plagued by the worst fans ive' seen (both moronic kids and imbecile manchildren). And it's completely MatPat's fault. That fricker has the Midas Touch of shit.

It was more that you had a stealth Murder Drones thread in a non-Muder Drones thread. That is annoying homosexual behavior and doesn't have anything to doing with being tribalistic.

            Anonymous

It's literally the same people in both threads, there is not much to talk about in ADC threads until the episode drops. There was no MD thread up at the time so conversation inevitably drifted to MD because some matpat autist was being a stubborn moron. Just deal with it instead of b***hing every time.
