They'd never match the humour style of the original but I'd imagine the series settings would be something like:

Every season just ends with Blackadder getting fricked over as a thematic story device about America’s racism, if you made him a black guy. But the show would have to be less traditional sitcom and more of a modern drama with comedic elements without a laugh track.
Making it a traditionally sitcom even though its dealing with serious stuff is what made Blackadder goes Forth one of the best seasons. One plotline was about him being court martialed over shooting a bird and almost executed over it. The finale is the cast getting mowed down by machine gun fire in slow motion. You definitely don't need to make it a drama.

Wouldn't it just be the same premise but continues for a season or two after WW2? In the final season blackadder could troon out and the show could have a poppy fields equivalent when he hangs himself, becoming -ACKadder.

Well, in the original show the dynamic was always that Blackadder was someone in a position of power.
You need an actor who can do sardonic and unpleasant, while still basically being likable. Maybe John Belushi would have worked.
