2000's left is very different them 2010's left. Seth himself was extremely liberal and left oriented and we all saw how their shows got.
I think you can kinda blame on personality than actual any sort of ideology or political alliance. What is PC now is very different of what is PC in the past and the people it attracts will differ a lot.
I guess the characters are so likeable and the setting is such a good groundwork for fun storytelling that even the writers go "hmm yeah nah, I'm not gonna vent here I'd rather write something entertaining instead"
