The Frieza fight filtered me as a child. Every time I ever saw DBZ on TV it was Goku endlessly charging a spirit bomb and talking to Frieza. I could not figure out what the hype about the show was when all I ever saw were two people standing there talking to each other.

A few minutes later Bulma forgets about the situation, sees Blue beat the shit out of Goku and realizes she's next. She then decides to seduce him despite completely forgetting about the previous interaction. Blue of course becomes grossed out again and then Bulma quickly remembering that she forgot he was gay which was perfect comedic timing. In the dub after he gets grossed out the first time, she just calls him a prude and follows it up with some unfunny sumo wrestler horseshit. I swear this happens ALL THE FRICKING TIME in the dubs of Dragon Ball. They censor shit related to homosexuality, rape, pedophilia, and other shit and yet dubgays act like they watch the superior version? Dubgays don't even understand Goku's character since they changed that shit too lmao.
I say this as someone who grew up watching the Funimation version like everyone else and being a hardcore dub only person until I became a non-moronic adult.
I'll never understand the people who are against Goku being voiced by a girl aside from their obvious bias because of nostalgia. They always say Goku is voiced by an old lady but the one thing they never understand is that it does not matter. If you start from the beginning. Nozawa was handpicked by Akira Toriyama himself to voice KID Goku when she herself was still relatively young. She played that part with perfection and then as Goku grew older she changed the performance enough to where you can suspend your disbelief and still feel comfortable with the fact it's still the same voice actor who made the character great to begin with. The tone of the voice is different, Goku is more mature and that's reflected on her performance because she's a legitimate actor who has the most experience with that character already. You as the viewer don't give a shit she's a girl because you already love what she did prior to Goku growing up. That's part of acting. Tricking the viewer and making them get lost in that world which her performance does because she's one of the most prolific VA's of all time working since the days of the original fricking Astro Boy and still going. If every dub watcher started from the beginning of DB all the way up until now, not only would they not care about Goku's voice, but they would prefer it because it's the better performance. Goku in the dub is voiced by a fricking tuba player who decided to audition for some Japanimation show and got lucky. It's not even fair to compare the two.

Any good actor can make it work which it does. That's why the Dragon Ball franchise is 40 years old and is still going. You cannot make the argument that men have to be played by men and Toriyama was wrong for his decision because objectively speaking, Dragon Ball would still be the biggest anime franchise of all time without your opinion on that matter. Dragon Ball is the reason I swore off dubs, I watched all of OG dubbed but then right after Vegeta escaped earth in Z I learnt about how they butchered gokus reason for letting him live and have turned my back on dubs since, every time I see a thread here defending it as one of the good dubs is utterly baffling to me, if i hadn't watched dragon ball I might still be a dubgay today about 5 years later (although even before I became a sub purist I was willing to watch subs if that was the only option both for no dub at all stuff and few week later dub stuff I wasn't going to wait extra weeks for a dub when I can watch the sub now)
