Stranger Things has already been taken over by girls. S4 was just ginger b***h standing around looking constipated while everyone else did the heavy lifting. Nancy and Robin, Eleven in the facility, Joyce in Russia, the whole show is just women. I don't think the four boys did anything of note this season at all. Just Will being gay and that's about it.
The will and mike storyline was by far the weakest. Really disappointing. They tried to salvage it with the “but mike, you’re the heart of the group” shit, but all they did was frick around and then help 11 make a shitty bathtub. The only upside is that I read somewhere the actor who plays will said in an interview he didn’t think his character was gay. The online seethe was great from all the tumblr hamplanets.

it’s a way better storyline for the character. everyone in his hick town thought he was gay as a kid because he was a bit more sensitive and into nerdy things. what would it say if they were right in their immediate judgment of him? I think it’s better than he’s not gay, just different, and in that community being different = bad = gay

That’s actually true. Add in the fact robins whole story arc is about being gay in a small town in the 80s the only thing wills character could bring to the table is the fact he’s in love with a main character and the resulting love triangle.
Would be decent if they did a switcheroo where even he thought he was gay and just decided against it. I’ve always thought it was bizarre how intertwined homosexuality was with so many character traits, like the gay voice. Could be an interesting commentary on that. You also never ever see characters in media come out as gay then decide it wasn’t for them. If the whole “sexuality is a spectrum” thing is true that means straight people exploring homosexuality but deciding they’re mostly straight is vastly underrepresented.
