>is media company's largest shareholder
Boy I wonder what billionaire businessman George Lucas meant by this? The better Disney does so does George. Even though they are in the gutter Geaorge's shares have doubled in value which makes his deal with Disney far more than the $4 billion figure at the time they signed the deal.
That's the most embarrassing excuse to deflect criticism
If he believed what he said he would also not insert senate sessions in the prequels, but he did, so this is only an attempt to make all criticism invalid thanks to buffoons like that parrot this brainrot
Even if it IS for children, it doesn't the excuse the OT being great vs what came after being dogshit
Children deserve OTs not the prequels.
if Irvin Kershner had been 10 years younger he would have gladly directed at least one of the prequels. He said he wanted to direct another Star Wars, but Lucas started making them too late.
Lucas is great for ideas and vision, but he needs a director and an editor to clean up his ideas.
>he talked bad about the prequels >FAST ACCUSE HIM OF LIKING THE SEQUELS
Shut the frick up moron, the reason I mentioned the prequels is because george made them, hence the bullshit excuse in the OP to defend shit like Jar Jar
The sequels are a completely different matter in shit and moronic movie making
Nobody of worth actually believes this. The production of the OT is well documented and anyone who's actually looked into it knows those reddit narratives that you morons like to parrot are complete horseshit.
It's an excuse he used a lot but when did it become more for kids? By the third movie with the small forest people. That's it.
Could kids see the first two? Of course. But they're not fricking Disney movies by any stretch of the imagination.
I was 8 years old when I saw TPM and understood the plot and dialogue perfectly, I was actually intrigued by the politics. Few people understand Lucas' genius writing.
That’s actually the main problem with Jar Jar, he’s a character for 5-year olds in a movie for 12-year olds. By the time boys hit 12, they no longer like characters like Jar Jar, it makes them feel talked down to, as if someone was treating them like a baby when they’re starting puberty.
Does George actively lie or just misremember things? It must be weird to nevertheless believe your own constantly changing narrative. There must be moments where you see past comments by yourself saying with conviction just the opposite happened to what you now say, and think 'huh?'
I think he's a bullshit artist that actively tells people what he thinks they want to hear. If you read any making-of accounts or interviews with people that worked on the movies, you can see that Lucas was fairly open and unguarded about the creative process, but when Lucas himself is interviewed he tends to enter All-Knowing Authority Lucas mode and adheres to the pretense that he always had a full-fledged vision of six (then nine) movies.
Why do you pretend the sequels were mediocre and the prequels terrible when we both know the rise of skywalker is the most ridicolous bullshit this franchise has ever seen?
I don't love the prequels, but this is just dishonest.
>most of the characters find Jar Jar annoying >the gungans hate Jar Jar, find him annoying. so annoying they exiled him >Jar Jar is unambiguously framed and presented as an annoying character >you the audience find Jar Jar annoying >this must be horrible writing
You really think seeing a couple of charred up skeletons for 10 seconds somehow makes it not a kids movie? There's more intense scenes in the animated Disney films lmao.
i think war/politics focused scifi/fantasy movies like the star wars prequels need somewhat aggressively silly elements because otherwise the viewer starts to realise they're watching a stupid space opera that takes itself too seriously
the original trilogy was more of a wacky adventure on its own, so all it needed was chewbacca and c3po acting as the comic relief
I don't know why this is so hard for people to accept.
George's version of an "adult" film is THX 1138. He can make them if he wanted to. Star Wars was clearly intended with a wide audience and that means including children.
I don't think 12 year olds watch movies anymore but wouldn't they prefer a movie like John Wick? My favorite movies when I was 12 were probably The Crow and Pulp Fiction.
When I was 12 I watched the last jedi religiously and the other 2 sometimes as well
I also loved LOTR
Some stories just have a fundamental human appeal regarless of who watches them, there is a reason 50 years later SW is still big and why lotr will always be iconic in fantasy
I don't know why this is so hard for people to accept.

Nobody fails to understand the OT were movies for all audiences that were made to appeal to children as well, they were family movies and no one will ever deny it
The issue is that george (and many after him) use this excuse to defend their dogshit such as the prequels or new star wars show. Children can enjoy the OT which was of higher quality, meaning its no fricking excuse.
The statement is deflection. George embarrassed himself, but didn't realize it until after because all the yes-men had pumped his ego since ROTJ, so he doubled down on the wrong creative decisions and it blew up in his face. It happens to many artists. You pour so much of your time and soul into something, only to realize far too late that you had lost sight of the bigger picture. You know it's wrong, but you can't just back out, so you're compelled to find a way to stand by your decisions.
Frick off mouseshill

HE'S A TRAITOR
>noo george you are wrong
>i must create a several hour critique where i pretend to know more about star wars and making movies than you
That's the most embarrassing excuse to deflect criticism

>but he needs an editor to clean up his ideas.
Watch the fanedits from Hal9000. They do exactly that.
They don't seem to be on YouTube, where can I find them?
Hey, I read all those books
Prequels are kino, you disgusting sequel troony.
>he talked bad about the prequels
>FAST ACCUSE HIM OF LIKING THE SEQUELS
Shut the frick up moron, the reason I mentioned the prequels is because george made them, hence the bullshit excuse in the OP to defend shit like Jar Jar

Maclunkey
Lucas will forever be remembered as the man who ruined Star Wars lmao
He made the damn thing.
his wife and team did. Lucas just took the credit.
Nobody of worth actually believes this. The production of the OT is well documented and anyone who's actually looked into it knows those reddit narratives that you morons like to parrot are complete horseshit.
>"When people start to get higher standards I simply remind them I'm a hack."
At least he's honest about it
Then he should've refused to sell expensive figurines cause those aren't toys for kids, those are actual art pieces for adults.
but I was under the age of 12 when it came out and still hated jar jar
It's an excuse he used a lot but when did it become more for kids? By the third movie with the small forest people. That's it.
Could kids see the first two? Of course. But they're not fricking Disney movies by any stretch of the imagination.
HACK
Yeah 12 year olds love dialogue like
>Will you defer your motion to allow a commission to explore the validity of your accusations?
I was 8 years old when I saw TPM and understood the plot and dialogue perfectly, I was actually intrigued by the politics. Few people understand Lucas' genius writing.
>8 years old
>intrigued by the politics
10 year olds recognized they were nonsense

He changed his position many times. The Prequels would have been completely different films if he hadn't had a disastrous divorce with his wife
maybe he should have taken viagra and had better six with his wife
I think he's a bullshit artist that actively tells people what he thinks they want to hear. Frick George Lucas. The prequels are shit and always will be. Redlettermedia was right about everything.
Why do you pretend the sequels were mediocre and the prequels terrible when we both know the rise of skywalker is the most ridicolous bullshit this franchise has ever seen?
I don't love the prequels, but this is just dishonest.

They make him a senator
George literally says in the documentary that he's supposed to be a fun character.
>kids movie
>charred skeleton corpses of the MCs dead family in the first 20 minute
Uh huh. Tell me more George.
You really think seeing a couple of charred up skeletons for 10 seconds somehow makes it not a kids movie? There's more intense scenes in the animated Disney films lmao.
Yes and when you watch it when you are 12, you are NEVER and I repeat NEVER to watch it again.
George said nothing wrong.
i think war/politics focused scifi/fantasy movies like the star wars prequels need somewhat aggressively silly elements because otherwise the viewer starts to realise they're watching a stupid space opera that takes itself too seriously

>last jedi
I meant return of the jedi fricking hell
Thank frick my childhood was nowhere near the last jedi
>the movies I loved as a child were made for children... oh noooooo
George doesn't use it as an excuse. In his mind his movies are all near perfect.
The statement is deflection. George embarrassed himself, but didn't realize it until after because all the yes-men had pumped his ego since ROTJ, so he doubled down on the wrong creative decisions and it blew up in his face.
