At least talk about the movie because I actually did enjoy this when I was little, also Rasputin is probably up there as one of the better Non-Disney villains No buyout still doesn’t count
Is Russia OK?
has russia ever been ok
Control yourselves and discuss the movie
Between this, Aladdin and The King and I, what is it with cartoon movies having a treacherous magical advisor figure?
There’s also that obviously evil vizier in the magic voyage telling him not to trust Columbus that never shows up again in the movie and the swarm lord takes the lead. Granted the vizier may have been the lesser of two evils there as this is Christopher Columbus we’re talking about
>there's a Columbus movie because of course there is
Damn. Hard to believe how much public perception of the dude can change in like 3 decades
The creators in Germany actually knew he was a pretty awful guy so they were challenging themselves on how to sugarcoat him as much as they can. It was well received in Germany but not so much in the states. Plus believe me we all know as kids we liked it because we had a day off from school
I blame Anastasia for all the Titanic animated movies, you can see they were aiming for something similar
The musical version was better.
This is a musical
I meant the broadway musical.
Oh that yeah, they really made improvements on what was flawed from the movie
I meant it was better because it shits on russia for the entire song
I can't imagine how much people seethed over the display of the monarchy and the revolution in this.
Communists don't like being told things were unironically better under the Tzar than the Soviet Union.
Maybe it’s because there were still people that were still alive to have known about this rather than other older historical events. To be fair it wasn’t known about the true fate of Anastasia until sometime after this film came out
>you mean totally destroying a country's social, political, economic, and religious heritage is ... LE BAD?!
