They absolutely do. Especially around catholic religious circles.

I found this movie very funny in parts. The SPLAT noise when the one guy falls to the pavement is a great slapstick sound effect. Between this and the troony stuff in Gangs of New York I think Scorsese was angling for some sort of sick comedy.

Too much “lol what a coincidence”. If you do more than one, you’re making a spoof. The fact that every other person in Nicholsons “gang” is a cop or informant makes it seem even more like a parody (yes the KKK and similar groups are mostly feds, that’s common knowledge because it’s impossible to keep that big an influence a secret)
It’s enjoyable on a surface level but frustrating when you think about it. Remove Matt Damon’s character, focus on Leo realizing he’s a mark like Sicario, and don’t bother explaining Jacks motivations if you can’t come up with anything better than “for the lulz”.

Who gives a shit, the worst offense of THE DEPAHTED is that it looks fricking awful. Badly edited, flat TV movie lighting and direction, washed out palette, no setpieces or memorable shots. It feels unfinished, like it didn't go through post.

            Maybe that's just Boston.

Boston looked ok in Black Mass, because that movie about Irish mafia rats in the FBI was actually well-directed and edited and went through post, color correction and everything else.

Yes but a lot of morons like to defend it because it was their first Scorsese movie.

It's not "THE WORST" movie of his entire filmography, but it's for sure is the weakest of his 2000s era.

I hated the ending. It was so unsatisfying. And I don't think it was ever addressed what was in the envelope leo gave the girl. I guess it could've been evidence against damon, but she had the tape he sent to damon already. Did leo even know she was with damon?

How did Damon's character know where Frank and his guys were going when he called off the pursuit before the shootout?
He couldn't have known that Leo's character was going to send him the address because they didn't reach any kind of understanding the last time they talked on the phone. Leo's character hung up on him.

they had a tail on Costello and when he screamed to get rid of it he just added another one like Leo said later
