The concept of "Passing the Torch" is one of the oldest storytelling narratives in history, and it can be done right under better conditions which don't insult the audience. What Rian did was blatantly malicious + more in line with Hollywood's hellbent plan on destroying legacy IP for the sake of inserting as much ESG/DEI agitprop as possible. If you don't see that, go frick yourself.

Like all other supplemental SW media after Lucas bailed, Andor suffers from existing under the banner of Disney (who made the dogshit prequels) so even when something good comes out, most people won't give it a shot because of the associated stigma.

Andor wasn't good enough to win shit though. The show's attempts to be sincere were respectable but clumsy. It was ok, not great.

Wait seriously, why does Andor make people on this board so angry? It wasn't great, or very unique, but it actually was decently made and written with a coherent plot and okay characters, which is entirely unlike the rest of nuWars. You could tell they had a plan for the plot and executed it, it didn't seem to devolve into side characters and attempts at sequel redemption the way Mandalorian has.

The complaints ITT are all silly, like oh it looks bland, oh it isn't Star Wars-y enough... Okay? Yeah it's bland, it's a Disney+ show using nuLucasfilm design teams held back only by the time period it was set in requiring the use of the original good designs. The colors? Who cares, why does it have to be bright and cartoony? This isn't Rebels... Washed out is overused sure, but it sets the tone of the show fine enough. Not enough fantasy elements? But most people hate the other Disney shows because they focus too much on Jedi vs Sith and the Force. The old EU was full of stories about non-superpowered humans going on adventures, look at the Rogue Squadron comics... Not everyone in the setting is a badass bounty hunter or Force wielder or Senator, lots of stories can be told from a relatively grounded aspect about these kinds of everyman Rebel recruits and not be a "wrong" way to use the setting.

It's weird, too, because the only other people I see online truly shitting on Andor are unironic sequel apologists and Filoni's shills.

      >Wait seriously, why does Andor make people on this board so angry?
The sequels. They murdered Star Wars for so many people that the only way to get them back on board would be decanonizing all of it, or just burning the new era to the ground. Some people wouldn't even be satisfied with that and are simply forever going to hate Star Wars from now on.
Also people don't actually know the hierarchy and think it's all the same few people making all the recent Star Wars media. While some of the most pathetic projects like Kenobi or Boba Fett certainly were made by the main LucasFilm core (Lynwen Brennan, Carrie Beck, Kathleen Kennedy, Momita SenGupta, Dave Filoni etc.), projects like Andor were made by Tony Gilroy who isn't really part of that. That's why Andor, even if you'd argue is shit, certainly feels different from the other shows. But good luck trying to explain that to people who are convinced Kathleen Kennedy writes all the shows, the books, the games.

        Anonymous

        >Some people wouldn't even be satisfied with that and are simply forever going to hate Star Wars from now on.
I get that, personally. I won't pay for or watch anything they make on my own. I watched Andor only because my dad wanted to watch it with me.
Still, I've long passed the point of caring, Star Wars is dead to me, ended in 2013 when it was sold, but I don't have enough energy to get angry about the new slop they push out. The sequels broke me and now I can just sit through their shit and laugh at how bad it is, knowing that the real Star Wars I grew up on is still right there on my shelves and ended a decade ago

        Anonymous

yeah something in the fandom just snapped forever once the dust after TLJ settled and it can't really be reversed

I will not argue that the characters are deep and interesting, because they aren't. It is a very safe, boring way of writing. But it's paced well, the dialogue isn't cringe-inducing, and it entertains as well as any pay-cable TV show you'd watch midday while cooking.
It's inoffensively boring, and that's legitimately a high watermark for the awful nuWars, which runs the gamut from painful to insulting otherwise.
