Early on it has some good episodes, I like the beat boxing guy & the graffiti one but this anime was hard to chew through. I can't hardly keep my eyes open during the one the guy catches on fire & jumps off a cliff

I finished it, it's just such a fricking boring ass tone change from then on out. We got Christians & gun, & plot reveals & long long scenes of nothing much happening. Yeah it filters hard & I much prefer the earlier episodes

I just think of it as the Halloween Episode, essentially a Treehouse of Horror
This. I loved Champloo, but that's episode was really poorly placed. Iirc it was nearly the penultimate episode to the last arc, broke the flow entirely.
This is one of the last good anime. It merges classic anime tropes with some of the edge of modern day anime. After that there was a stream of shows using the 'realism' that this had in the dialogue while set in modern times and it just never hit right for me.
I stayed up late specifically to catch new episodes of this and was incredibly excited about it when I was 12. Can't even remember the last time something made me feel excited like that, maybe this was the last time.

golden kamuy is extremely underrated also takes place before world war one, slightly after or before the russo-japanese war, also features tonnes of indigenous tribes from japan and russia from the sakhalin island before russia annexed it from japan.

I wish this was true. It's all naruto, one piece, bleach. The rest is all poorly animated garbage with "fight" scenes that are just someone about to attack then the screen turning black and the person bleeding. No dynamic, fluid battles.
Sad but true, most shonens are either the big three (which were never that good anyway) or terrible writers trying desperately to imitate them. I recommend fullmetal alchemist (either the old one or brotherhood).
I've only seen a couple episodes but the castlevania show had some pretty cool fight scenes

Ed is great and her stupid child charm is what takes the edge off the others, they go from being annoyed to enjoying her company. Don't act like Champloo isn't full of lol so wacky episodes like the weed field, the zombies, any episode with Manzo "the saw", and especially the baseball episode.
Kill la kill is FLCL but for girls. It hits all the girl problems that girls deal with at puberty. Cliches, sexualized clothing, b***hes, daddy issues, etc.
