if you think a non-weeb would enjoy anything about Evangelion, you're off the shits. weebs are stockholm-syndromed into thinking all the moronic bullshit in Eva is actually cool and deep, any normal person would think Evangelion starts boring and then gets annoying and even a big film geek would just see directly through the fact that it's a bunch of pseudo-philosophical shit filtered through "what if a mecha anime... was sad".
Just finished watching season 1 of One Punch Man, Saitama was the only good part of it. Genos was just an emo pretty boy who could barely keep track of his supposed one purpose in life, and the entire concept of the Hero Association, a bureaucracy of heroes mainly composed of lame amateurs, was done much better in The Venture Bros. Heard season 2 was worse so I probably won't even bother continuing. I think I read somewhere that dialogue in anime is drawn out to basically act as filler for the action, couple that with the translation barrier and cultural differences and I really can't get into it for the most part. Maybe a dubbed version would sound more coherent.

Aside from the incorrect aspect ratio, cropped frames, and incorrect colors? Nothing, but it's not acceptable for a modern release unless you're literally releasing it on VHS. People shouldn't be paying $30 to have a blu ray disc with a upscaled VHS quality version of that anime.

The finished anime is not suppose to have the same colors as the cels though. Back in the day when artists worked with cels, they noticed that when viewing the anime on the screen compared to the cel, the coloring was different which is why they purposely chose a particular color scheme when coloring that would show up differently when viewed on a screen. The finished product is how it's suppose to look. It's not just Japan. All animators faced these same issues.

>Dont blurays have to mess with the image because of the original aspect ratio?
no? It depends on who's putting it out. In most cases when it comes to older anime being released on a physical format, they typically preserve the original aspect ratio because that's how it's suppose to be viewed. The few times where this was majorly fricked up (in the modern era) was with Funimation in the mid-00's when they ruined Dragon Ball Z by releasing the show on DVD in a stretched 16:9 aspect ratio but since then, companies don't really do that any more because people b***hed about it. >This was never made for a modern wide screen tv.
It doesn't matter. You can watch any type of aspect ratio on any modern TV. >Colors and that aesthetic shit are debateable.
I don't think it's debatable at all. People who make anime choose a specific color scheme and aesthetic and that should be preserved when released for home video. It doesn't make sense to alter the look of the original show because that's not what the artists want.
What non-weebs/normies like (based on reddit normies): >Ghost in the shell >Cowboy Bebop

anime is just bad. it's hardly on the level of marvel movie writing and the art hasn't been good for 20 years, which is the only thing going for it. anything respectable was made before 2000 generally speaking.
norgami might be one of the worst shows I've seen of the past 15 years. The comedy is painfully unfunny and cringe, the character designs are lazy, the overall art style is bland, the action sequences are weak and not memorable, the plot is uninteresting and uninspired, the main girl is completely useless and has the personality of a potato while the two main guys are feminine and lame as frick like most modern anime heroes. I hate that fricking show and I wasted my time watching it.
You might be the first person I've come across who didn't like Casshern Sins. I thought it was a reboot done right. Good point. Last thing we need is a bunch of Noragami homosexual kids trying to be humorous
Most of these are moronic.
Deconstructions and parodies without being familiar withe the genre? Tropey stuff when you are uninitiated? Demanding (for normie stdards) stuff ands symbolism porn?
The only normie friendly show among those is Little Witch Academia, which is just Harry Potter done right.
>Any modern ones?
Who the frick likes modern anime? Also they barely even do much horror nowadays and the only one that looks somewhat promising is that upcoming Uzamaki mini series.
I saw the trailer for it and it looks pretty damn good unlike the previous Ito adaptions. I feel like I haven't seen a truly decent horror in long time
The last 13 episodes are complete dogshit. They literally killed off the character who would stop Light just to replace him with a literal carbon copy of the same character who you never even saw prior until they randomly show up. That show is one of the biggest disappointments of any anime I've ever seen and left a bad taste in my mouth.
It didn't help that Light's notebook side hustle after Yotsuba was also boring and just kinda exists to kill for plot's sake and scream DELETE THIS, the scale of everything just takes a dive in general
The original finished product was vhs quality then, since that is what it was made to be broadcast on.(yea, i know it had an LD release)
The aspect ratio, colors and even the cropping. Everything they did to the bluray release goes against its original product since the aspect ratio and colors were changed.
There is no "improvement" here, just changes.
Which would bring me back to the original question.
Whats wrong with vhs quality?
>The original finished product was vhs quality then
Old anime used 16mm film and the really expensive ones used 35mm film. The original product wasn't "vhs" quality". If it was, it would be difficult to make a HD remaster of these old anime. They are working with the actual film or copies of the film, not some second hand tapes aside from some few exceptions. >The aspect ratio, colors and even the cropping. Everything they did to the bluray release goes against its original product since the aspect ratio and colors were changed.
it's literally the opposite. >Whats wrong with vhs quality?
I'm starting to realize you don't understand the process of animation and how it's preserved and released. In the case of Angel cop, they scanned the original film negative, not VHS copies (unlike they're previous inferior release). The newest blu ray release is how the original creators intended you to view it with no limitations.
You can look at the actual cells that were painted with the intention of how she should look.
She never had "grey" hair in any original promotional material.
Im pretty sure they didnt intend for that.
If they did they shouldve just called it Ancient Cop instead.
>You can look at the actual cells that were painted with the intention of how she should look.
Dude you were already told why animation cels look different than the finished product here
The finished anime is not suppose to have the same colors as the cels though.
>She never had "grey" hair in any original promotional material. >Im pretty sure they didnt intend for that.
Cels and promotional box art do not represent the finished product. >If they did they shouldve just called it Ancient Cop instead.
Why don't you just admit you like the more vibrant blue instead of creating this notion that the restored version of the film that is officially color corrected is somehow not the right version of the OVA. You can't sit there and convince anyone that the colors you see on an animation cel or on an old VHS tape is how the anime is suppose to look. If you watch the ORIGINAL film print of the OVA, her hair is grey in that scene and that was intentional. That's how they wanted people to see it when being viewed. It was the limitations of the VHS release that changed the color but it was never suppose to look that way.
The actual cells painted by the artists making the ova, and promotional material advertising said product arent meant to represent the product? > I want her hair to be grey like an old womans so ill just go and paint it blue because the light of the cellbox will surely make it grey so that in a future release itll be corrected but leave all the other colors the same.
I want some of whatever you are smoking man. Puff and pass.
Dude go ahead and tell me how incorrect colors, a stretched aspect ratio, and cropping out portions of the picture is somehow better than the remaster just based on this image alone? The new release IS how the anime is suppose to look and I'm not gonna keep repeating it.

yeah the one on the left clearly has washed out colors that's effected by the outdated format it was previously released on
The only people who hate anime are >30 and shouldn't have their opinions considered because they're out of touch. Or, they might also be sheltered kids who were stunted by poor Christian parenting choices.

so basically your armchair psychology in relation to weeb related topics. Got it.
Good point. Last thing we need is a bunch of Noragami homosexual kids trying to be humorous
What's the top right corner one?
The name is "Worse Black Lagoon", but some call it Jormungand.
>konusuba
>elfen lied
>little witch
you're such a fricking troll I swear.
Most of these are moronic.
Deconstructions and parodies without being familiar withe the genre? Tropey stuff when you are uninitiated? Demanding (for normie stdards) stuff ands symbolism porn?
The only normie friendly show among those is Little Witch Academia, which is just Harry Potter done right.
>weebs
frick off Black person

Are there any good hentai series? The only one I found that was actually good was called discipline, I go back to it every once in a while to fap.
Frick off, you shameless little gooner moron.
I'll think if you when I fap tonight gayboy
>konosuba
lol that's the most anime anime I've ever seen and it's great. Check out Princess Connect ReDive if you like Konosuba and Elfen Leid sucks.
Angels Egg is objectively kino
Halloween is coming. Time to watch OVAs.
They look nice, but old.
Any modern ones?
>Any modern ones?
Who the frick likes modern anime? Also they barely even do much horror nowadays and the only one that looks somewhat promising is that upcoming Uzamaki mini series.
I saw the trailer for it and it looks pretty damn good unlike the previous Ito adaptions. I feel like I haven't seen a truly decent horror in long time
Corpse Party maybe? Parasyte? Dunno. Devilman Crybaby. Jujutsu Kaisen. Not really my genre.
>Devilman Crybaby
That one sucked. Watch the OVAs instead
Both are fine for what they are.
No I expect way better from something with Yuasa's name attached to it. Crybaby might be the worst show he's ever made.
Where's this entitlement coming from?
I don't know what you're saying. You think being a coombrained moron is normal? Maybe it is these days but that doesn't mean it's good.
>coombrained
buzzword that doesn't describe anything real.
It's just you seething at normality
You're moronic
>Maryou Senki
The dude on the right has one big hand. Does he need it to fap?
Have you seen BLACKED yet ?
>Elfen Lied
No one likes this except children wanting to be edgy
The ultimate gateway anime
Waiting on that live action tv series
The last 13 episodes are complete dogshit. They literally killed off the character who would stop Light just to replace him with a literal carbon copy of the same character who you never even saw prior until they randomly show up. That show is one of the biggest disappointments of any anime I've ever seen and left a bad taste in my mouth.
Whole show should have ended after the first episode.
It didn't help that Light's notebook side hustle after Yotsuba was also boring and just kinda exists to kill for plot's sake and scream DELETE THIS, the scale of everything just takes a dive in general
I actually like that L's protoges are the ones that take out light, but I can see how not everybody would like that
Sometimes I wonder what it's like to live your life with absolutely no taste or intelligence.
Look man him liking the shittier half of death note is still better than him liking anything made in the last 10 years by Hollywood or netflix.
The story ends with L's death. Light won.
whats the appeal of konosuba?
I don't know. I tried it for 3 episodes or so and it seemed like obnoxious coomer trash to me.
>coomer
Frick off from entertainment made for normal people
The original finished product was vhs quality then, since that is what it was made to be broadcast on.(yea, i know it had an LD release)
Dude you were already told why animation cels look different than the finished product here
>She never had "grey" hair in any original promotional material.
The new release IS how the anime is suppose to look and I'm not gonna keep repeating it.
yeah the one on the left clearly has washed out colors that's effected by the outdated format it was previously released on
vhs tapes didn't even exist in the 60's or most of the 70's so how are those anime being broadcast back then onto tv in vhs quality? They used film.
Most people dont have movie theaters that can play it back on film reels in their house.
I dont think that was common back then either.
name your favorite anime and I will tell you why it's shit
Amagi Brilliant Park
That's not your favorite anime
moron
melodrama gay shit
>That's not your favorite anime
Yes it is, also not an answer, homosexual
Wolf's Rain is a masterpiece and you should kys. Preferably while listening to the opening theme song.
Wolf's Rain
>Konosuba
Based taste
the post credits scene
Add death note.
I'm not a huge anime enjoyer but that is a cat and mouse game that transcends medium
monster is better.
true, but it goes nowhere and the lame ending ruins the experience
Once you've seen the opening OP for Elfen Lied that's as far as you need to watch. Please replace this with Psycho-Pass.
Why do anime threads make the low-iq newbies seethe?
The only people who hate anime are >30 and shouldn't have their opinions considered because they're out of touch. All zoomers love anime, and anti-anime boomers are stuck in the 00s jock culture era where everyone made fun of nerds. Or, they might also be sheltered kids who were stunted by poor Christian parenting choices.
People who are <30 have never seen good anime
im a 22 year old recovering neet that voraciusly devoured any and all anime from the ages of 11 to 20.
i can no longer stomach any of it after spending the past two years going to the gym, socializing at work, reading books, and watching old art movies.
You can easily get through all the anime that’s worth watching in well under a decade, I don’t blame you for stopping
Finished it yesterday, i never see pic related mentioned even tho it's so good. Thought it was going to be all style no substance but it actually has some subtle character development
