The Kino was happening inside his head, he just needed more technology and I bet his head is still full of more kino and we just don't know it yet because human technology just can't keep up.
I think it's fine, he's probably glad technology is finally catching up so he can do more live action stuff that doesn't look bad. There is still work to do, but what we got so far looks serviceable.
Shin Kamen Rider's stunts are largely a product of its stunt director and not Anno.
The Stunt Director and Anno publicly clashed over Anno's penchant for incessant rewrites, and how for real fricking people doing the work (and not drawings) that it's actually dangerous to be fricking around with stunts last minute and not just annoying for the poor animators.
Nah I'd say Anno's actual talent lies in things he storyboards or does layouts for himself, his legacy talent he picked up as a very skilled animator.
And that a lot of why I don't like his new stuff is because he does less and less of that himself so his personal touch, his talent for action/fx sequences, comes through less in these newer films.
Like his Japanese critics say he's become more of a producer than a director.
This scene is better with sound. The trumpets swelling and in tandem with Hongo's movements is just so fricking good. This soundtrack was spectacular, I couldn't believe Taku Iwasaki was capable of synergizing with Anno was well as Shiro Sagisu was but holy shit he did it.
On purpose. It's to be as campy as a traditional Power Rangers episode with a Gravure model as the star and cut to mimic the anime series from the '70s.
Just what you'd expect from the master, Mr. Anno
It's pretty epic from watching it on DVD. Arch had a few ver but jesus the only mkv was 25.6gigs...
It's easily the best live action anime adaptation.
The Kino was happening inside his head, he just needed more technology and I bet his head is still full of more kino and we just don't know it yet because human technology just can't keep up.
why did all live action jap movie looks grey? is it the camera filter they use or is it something else? I watched their two new godzilla films and they also have grey as the dominant colour.
You know how in Anime and stuff they always draw those massive cumulonimbus clouds on the horizon? Well most the time those clouds are actually just on top of the country making everything overcast for weeks at a time.
Over the top kino is way better than what modern super hero movies do. Just embrace the absurdity instead of trying to make it serious with horrible choreography and actors that can't fight for shit.
Pretty much it's a modern (well... 00s) throwback to campier 60s anime. Imagine if they made a new Batman movie like the old Adam West show, but with the more comic inspired style of something like Sin City.
Frick. Now I want that.
Not to mention that bit where Anno does frames like an anime. Pretty sure it references something specific too.
This b***h is ugly as frick and so is the one who plays Natsuko (she also can't act). Going from the anime to the live action is traumatic, truly 3D is PD.
Yeah because oriental women perennially look like children
I'm not really into Asian women but even when you compare Japanese women on average to other NE Asian women they fall flat a lot. Just my personal opinion. Their short legs make them look awkward and their faces aren't great most of the time.
For me it's Korean women. SEAmonkeys can look nice too

honestly all east asian are the same, those weeb and kpooper who say japan or korea were different and one being being superior than the other is clearly just being biased.
there's a reason all their 2D women in manga and manhwa was basically just hyper idealized white women.
Korean are better looking than Japanese imo. With Chinese it can go either way, I think it depends on whether they're Cantonese or Mandarin or whatever
Re:cutie honey is 3 standalone episodes each made by different people.
He probably didn’t really do much at all on it besides being the overall manager of the project.
Meanwhile he probably put his effort into this movie instead.
Didnt this nip fricker complain about Weeb culture and claim evangelion is a "critique" to it, like he is some high moral being, but all of his works and tastes are about Otaku culture and sexualized girls?
Cutie Honey Flash is fine, even though it takes its liberties. But all the Cutie Honey anime do.
Flash really is more like a sixth Sailor Moon season, and it's kinda poetic, considering Sailor V and therefore Sailor Moon were inspired in large parts by the original Cutie Honey. That being said, the manga is unreached to this day. The anime adaptation for manga fans is obviously Universe, and the anime adaptation for nostalgic old time fans is the 1973 Cutie Honey.
I'd argue that he doesn't get it at all, since Shin is not an adaptation of the manga, it's a sequel. Therefore it shouldn't be part of that discussion.
Because it's a real shoujo
Shin isnt any better than the original, which is very good or RE, and RE attracted so many troony yuritards that it's hard to love
Koda Kumi did the theme song and shook her her breasts and ass all over the place when she performed it live. I'm afraid to see what she looks like now.
I like it better than Re: Cutie Honey, the anime version of the same adaptation cycle that Anno made at Gainax.
That being said, they both pale in comparison to any other Cutie Honey manga, anime or live action.
Anno really didn't understand the characters.
Only good anime/manga live-action adaptation I can think of is Alita.

Grave of the Fireflies makes the aunt sympathetic because of course the target audience is old women.
Someone recommended the Kenshin stuff last week but I haven't seen them.

yeah both the anime adaptation (wich was a prequel) and the movie sequel came in the same year. Also if you didn't watch it yet you should check Mirai Ninja, his previous movie, it has the same style.

The author genuinely just forgot about it at times according to his own bonus manga lel
They also made a live action TV drama version of it that was extremely well received, even moreso than the manga and Saki uses it in all sorts of stupid creative ways; I'd reccomend giving it a look if you're interested in that era of Japanese TV and some easy watching
Uncle Go also appeared in the grittier Cutey Honey Tears movie
I can't find the scene on youtube but he sees Honey in a sexy wienertail dress and gives her a big thumbs up
kek
was that reference in the original?
Cutey Honey is also extremely important to otaku culture in Japan, it's like referencing the Ashita no Joe death scene

funny how they have to tell you why the main star is famous
I mean it's relevant to the role
code?
all weebshit is pornographic anyway
Just what you'd expect from the master, Mr. Anno
Zased
Lmao this looks so fricking stupid. japan is such a shit hole
Yeah I'm thinkin kino
it looks very unique. i like its weirdness
Unironically kino as frick.
Very similar to his new Kamen Rider movie
The Kino was happening inside his head, he just needed more technology and I bet his head is still full of more kino and we just don't know it yet because human technology just can't keep up.
i'm more entertained by this one webm than i have been by any movie in Hollywood for decdes.
Why? It's the same awful fast-cut shit.
Shit editing: 🙁
Shit editing, Japan: 😮
Just watch power rangers
It would be a lot better if he didn't mix good cameras with shitty ones.
He needs to stop making remakes, honestly i dont think he is ever gonna top Evangelion/EOE. He hasn't even tried either, maybe he knows he cant.
moron
I think it's fine, he's probably glad technology is finally catching up so he can do more live action stuff that doesn't look bad. There is still work to do, but what we got so far looks serviceable.
Its not just tech tho, for example Shin Kamen Rider is largely a remake, it doesn't have the ambition of something like evangelion.
when your peak is that high, it's impossible to recreate that, at best you can hope to plateau before falling off too much and hang on for dear life
Evangelion is the worst thing Anno has made. Everything else has been great.
Sure, but that also goes for the music, effects, etc. it's Anno's role to make everything flow together.
Stunt people need to stop thinking they're film makers and not expendable cannon fodder.
Auteur kino. One of a kind.
Unironic kino, let's kill everyone on Cinemaphile for pushing their gay as frick troony drawings and just make this.
Pajeets are ripping this off in every single one of their flicks
KINO
It's not the same without the lyrics that sound like they're saying "pa pa paya, papaya song!"
Does Baby Metal do the music for this?
Babymetal is overrated. lol
I like them.
Babymetal didn't even exist back then.
Looks better than anything Hollywood has put out in the last 5 years
looks like a low budget b-movie.
On purpose. It's to be as campy as a traditional Power Rangers episode with a Gravure model as the star and cut to mimic the anime series from the '70s.
It's pretty epic from watching it on DVD. Arch had a few ver but jesus the only mkv was 25.6gigs...
Holy ludo…
>SNIFFFFFF
Are you saying you want to SNIFF that girl's BUTT?! Anon that is disgusting.
High budget Tokusatsu using the style and technique of made for tv tokusatsu is actually pretty novel.
why did all live action jap movie looks grey? is it the camera filter they use or is it something else? I watched their two new godzilla films and they also have grey as the dominant colour.
That's how Japanese people see the world psychologically.
You know how in Anime and stuff they always draw those massive cumulonimbus clouds on the horizon? Well most the time those clouds are actually just on top of the country making everything overcast for weeks at a time.
I noticed they dim the brightness in heavy action scenes, in anime.
My only guess was they took the epilepsy incident very seriously.
Over the top kino is way better than what modern super hero movies do. Just embrace the absurdity instead of trying to make it serious with horrible choreography and actors that can't fight for shit.
>mimicking fricking kaneda animation on a live-action show
ok that's based
This is the best thing I have ever seen in my life.
Go watch the Movie RIGHT NOW
How does Anno keep getting work, jesus christ. I guess the japs have no other filmmakers that anyone cares about...
All is forgiven, Anno does it again.
This was like his personal white whale dream project for decades
He's basically done this and anime, no other commercial live action
Pretty much it's a modern (well... 00s) throwback to campier 60s anime. Imagine if they made a new Batman movie like the old Adam West show, but with the more comic inspired style of something like Sin City.
Frick. Now I want that.
Not to mention that bit where Anno does frames like an anime. Pretty sure it references something specific too.
And this one isnt even the BAD "Cutie Honey"
This is the same kind of style he used in Shin Kamen Rider. It's supposed to look like a mix of old Tokusatsu with a little more anime flair.
anime and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race
I thought Japanese people were allergic to sarcasm?
Anno called the movement "Honeymation." I loved it then and it bums me out it didn't become a more common thing.
I like it.
This looks fricking cringe as shit. Why are the Slopenese so shit at making entertainment?
Holy shit
Should I watch this tonight?
Yes it’s a fun movie.
Bros, was this scene really relevant to the plot?
It symbolizes a creator who's lost control of his franchise
> he said on a board where every marvel movie has a stan lee cameo
the stupid ass, not the cameo
>ass
>Japanese people be like "Look at the dump truck on her!"
She makes up for it in other areas.
holy shit is that Go Nagai making another cameo?
He gets a pass. He made violence jack. Which is the greatest manga ever.
Now I will watch your movie.
I think all the insane shit like this japan produces would be kino if japs were not all so fricking ugly.
>if japs were not all so fricking ugly.
>japs
Jap men*. Please forgive my error, Cinemaphile
This b***h is ugly as frick and so is the one who plays Natsuko (she also can't act). Going from the anime to the live action is traumatic, truly 3D is PD.
Honestly I find them to not be insanely attractive either. I feel like Japanese women get carried by how popular Nip pop culture is
it is weird, they can only be hot in a "cute" way but lack any actual sex appeal
Yeah because oriental women perennially look like children
I'm not really into Asian women but even when you compare Japanese women on average to other NE Asian women they fall flat a lot. Just my personal opinion. Their short legs make them look awkward and their faces aren't great most of the time.

because your brain is poisoned
Japan produces fantasy because it's entertainment.
you produce interracial israelite proganda and pretend it's normal.
we are not the same 😉

Why do the same thing twice?
Re:cutie honey is 3 standalone episodes each made by different people.

He didn’t. You are misinformed.
the depressed man critiqued himself you dumb b***h. he doesnt hate weebs he hates himself
It's easily the best live action anime adaptation.
This isnt the story of ricky
Oh I forgot about that
2nd best then
The rumor is he got the frick the lead actress
He's married though
oh. then i guess it wouldn't be physically possible
The movie was also made before he got married, I think.
>tfw no cutie honey gf

what is the best version of Cutie Honey and why is it Cutie Honey Flash?
Cutie Honey Flash is fine, even though it takes its liberties. But all the Cutie Honey anime do.

I'll admit I listened to that soundtrack more than I should have back then. I also made the choice not to look her up.
This was in January. She can still get it.
Ok, better than expected. I still won't scrutinize in case it's a good or retouched picture. I choose to believe she's still hot.
I like it better than Re: Cutie Honey, the anime version of the same adaptation cycle that Anno made at Gainax.
That being said, they both pale in comparison to any other Cutie Honey manga, anime or live action.
Anno really didn't understand the characters.
Annus is a hack stuck on the late 80s for all his life. Zero creativity, just mix slop with slop.
Why didn't Japan ever make a live action Dirty Pair?
Never mind I don't want live action Dirty Pair anymore.
>Black person
>dyke
>tumblr "no male gaze" costume
dude should just delete the costume design section of his portfolio
For all the talk of whitewashing and erasure SJW c**ts always do, it sure is funny to see two Asian women rewritten as a black and white duo.
This is pretty much what I'd expect from an actual live action thing.
Are there any movies like this starring JAV stars?
Only good anime/manga live-action adaptation I can think of is Alita.

All the Kenshin movies at fricking amazing, just for the fighs alone.

Feh. It still needed some flan.
>he hasn't seen Crows Zero
peak juvie delinquent sovl
Alita is dogshit. As a movie and as an adaptation
Captain Marvel flopped. Get over it.
Good, but it has nothing to do with Alita beign a shit movie and shit adaptation. Two things can be bad at same time, you stupid console warrior.

Gene Roddenberry gonna sue somebody!
Every contrarian shitter in here should cut off his dick (yes they're all male)
Cutie Honey enjoyers can stay
The seventies version is like if Hanna-Barbara was allowed to put sexy jokes in its cartoons
I liked the gag where she drove the Panther Claw goons off a cliff in their own car. Something about her facial expressions just cracked me up.
I'm completely blanking on it but yeah, the original definitely had some pretty funny faces and animation drawn in it

It's 10x funnier with the porn soundtrack.
CUTIE OF MURDER!!
Which had the best OP?
So why does she have a hole in her torso
Its just a feature of her 70s style dress
side note Seirah was an underrated character
For me it's Shin Cutie Honey op 2
I like this one

Still better than the rebuilds.
