so we all know Quesada stacked editorial with goons that'll never allow Spider-Man to be married to be Mary Jane again, but is there anyone specific to blame for Hank slander? does anyone at Marvel actually care enough to stop Al Ewing from his obsession with redeeming Hank Pym?

In a recent interview, Breevort was the one to come up with the identity of Victor Shade and it's going to be revealed #5-6 ish
      >https://www.cbr.com/avengers-inc-al-ewing-interview/
      >Vic, as you'll see, has very Vision-like powers. But whoever he is, he's not the Vision. He's a two-fisted charmer with a heart of gold who talks like a 1940s detective. What's his deal? Tom Brevoort had a really good idea right as we were locking in the final answer that's going to pay off very handsomely when we do the reveal, which is not that long in coming. If this [was] a TV show, it'd be at the end of the first season.

Ewing has stated Shade isn't Vision though and Vision as a separate character is showing up in the second issue

They've claimed this Victor Shade is a supposedly dead villain, but we're not getting an answer until the end of the first story arc.

Vision himself only rarely used the identity, only a few people even knew 'Victor Shade' was Vision, most of them within the Avengers.

Hank Pym and Bruce Wayne have the same essential problem: they're both autistic introverted geniuses that get beat down by hypersocial society whenever they demonstrate any kind of weakness and thus suffer from mental breakdowns, in canon.
ooc, they both are "50s ad exec" dad charactrers and thus boomer and millenials have to take out their childhood trauma on these guys. They couldn't stop daddy from beating mommy, but they can make Hank Pym's life a paper hell

I could see a great comic of Batman ether finding Hank frantic in his lab or having to stop yellow jacket just to talk to Hank. He’d probably have a healing two face like relationship with Hank than he does with Harvey.

I have an idea for Scott. So his story is that of a criminal tha became a hero so I thought about making his exact oposite and having someone that started as a hero but eventually became a criminal and draw paralles between them, simple concept I know but I could work. I'm just trying to remember if there's already a character like that in Marvel, an established hero that eventually became a villain.

        >Marvel Editor Tom Brevoort detailed how Alan Moore almost came back to Marvel Comics in the early 2000s. Moore began working with Brevoort following his contribution to the Heroes graphic novel, a landmark project created for charity in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Not long after, Brevoort attempted to lure Moore into doing more work for Marvel Comics. Says Brevoort: “I did later make an attempt to convince Alan to write FANTASTIC FOUR, unsuccessfully—he did have an interest in doing ANT-MAN, though I was never quite certain whether we could sell it in sufficient quantities to make it worth pursuing, and it never came together in any event. But I bet his Ant-Man would have been mind-blowing.”

Hank Pym is a case where the many creative decisions that were made to his character through the long history of Marvel Comics just turned him into a far more complex character than he was originally conceived, so part of the appeal is to see him go through this weird journey of the many different facets of his life as he tries to find a place in the larger universe. Hence a huge chunk of his story is told in the Avengers book.

The most good entry level with him is the EMH cartoon, but the originals are a fun read

This post put its rather well and I agree in that, Earth's Mightiest Heroes is probably the best modern distillation of all things that make Hank click.

Scott Lang is straightforward character, he's an ex-con that tries to redeem himself by being a superhero while trying to make ends meet for his daughter. If Hank is the more "grandiose" Ant-Man by virtue of being an incredible super scientist, Scott is the street level Ant-Man and his best stories are usually the ones that focus on his relationship with Cassie as both father and hero. The MCU might be a mixed bag in general but the first Ant-Man movie does capture the core of the character, and while his modern comics obviously draw inspiration from the tone of the movies I also see that as the result of having a consistent foundation to draw upon. Also, EMH tells another good version of his origin story.

        Anonymous

Scott Lang is a more Marvel-like character compared to Hank Pym. Characters like Hank and the F4 are much too DC-like. They’re not flawed or grounded enough to fit “the world outside your window” that is the Marvel U. They’re also way too geeky. Lang is the Ant-Man for the common man.

He’s better because his story’s better. A divorced ex-con who just wants to be a good dad to his daughter is a much more compelling and relatable story than whatever Hank’s got.

              Stop fighting gaygeroons
Hank Pym is the first and ultimate superhero of the MU. Hank is a guy who fights his worst battles with himself, and wins. Without the Man in the Ant Hill, you don't have modern superhero comics.
Scott Lang is one of the greatest character concepts introduced to capeshit, the strugglign dad, and on his way to becoming the greatest of his era
we have serious potential as a fanbase to leverage a Hal Jordan style resurrection, don't let toxicity ruin that

Morrison is the best at what he does no doubt but Ewing is better when it comes to writing character driven stories or at least his characters feel more human.

If only he wasn't so shit at writing fights.

He’s better because his story’s better. A divorced ex-con who just wants to be a good dad to his daughter is a much more compelling and relatable story than whatever Hank’s got.

As someone that enjoys both I don't think is fair to compare them to claim one is better than the other since they are too different as characters.

You could make the same argument about most other Marvel marriages, but in most of those cases their fans WANT them back together. With Hank and Jan it's more complicated because any time they're together it's just a matter of time before some writer brings the slap up again and ruins what they have. Hank would be safer with someone else, but he deserves better than a loose furry like Tigra.

Jan and Havok was hilarious because she came out the gates swinging.
        >Hey Alex, your hot, we're both heroes, and we could die tomorrow, lets frick!

Jan and Alex briefly hooking up while they were on the same team isn't a problem, that's just the kind of people they are, and the same for Jan really going for it with so much enthusiasm. The problem was Remender trying to move the relationship to something serious and lasting entirely off-panel via a time-skip. Nobody was invested in that at all, so nobody since has even referenced it.

Years from now some continuity autist writer will remember this story and bring back an adult version of the kid as yet another child Kang stole and raised to fight their parents.

Crazy bearded old man hermit Hank and O'Grady with some sort of brain problems. For some reason they're experimenting on imprisoned supervillains. An unintended side effect of this is turning Whirlwind into Victor Shade.

          Anonymous

I was wondering if Shade was Whirlwind after the end of Ewing's Wasp mini, but that was a more boring answer than Pym or Wonder Man.

            Anonymous

It beats Whirlwind coming back as a Krakoa clone, and it beats Wonderman because it's not Wonderman. There'll have to be a good reason why Whirlwind would use Vision's old secret ID, or why he'd even know about it. Didn't he used to be terrified of Vision?

Is Jan/Whirlwind finally going to happen?

              >Is Jan/Whirlwind finally going to happen?
There's no way that Marvel dares to pull that one

Windwhirl is literally way worse than Pym, why the hell is Marvel putting more effort to redeem him than Hank?

It's not actually Whirlwind, its someone or something else wearing his skin.

Admit it at least, Hank Pym at least back and up to a science work to fix himself is at least great for avengers inc storyline and himself in general.

Not him but depending on my mood I either like Hank or Scott more, that being said I would KILL for them both.

Damn, feels like Marvel really struggled to find a brand for him.

That's part of the reason of why they even wrote the story arc of him going insane with his Yellowjacket persona, didn't have much idea what to do with him.

Why doesn't Ant-Man just one shot every villain in the universe?

Pym Particles may be OP but they are not the answer to every bad guy in the setting. Also, is there even a no kill rule for Ant-Man?
