What's great about it is is that even though it's tongue-in-cheek it's more like Commando (Arnold movie) tongue-in-cheek; in that it takes itself seriously while still having fun with how over the top it is.
I'm not a fan of his other shit either, but I don't remember any gay sex being in the comic. It was like watching a super violent exploitation action movie from the late 70s/early 80s. This is his only comic he doesn't go full self-aware moron. It IS self-aware, but like I said it's like Commando; aware of itself and having fun but still taking itself seriously.
All this Ben Marra/Fantagraphics shit is too fricking self-aware and ironic to really be like Cobra.
Part of what makes 80's action movies so endearing is how earnestly they take themselves.
Check out some Boneyard press comics for something like that
2000AD has Judge Dredd
Marvel has Punisher
DC had Vigilante, but I'm warning you it has to be the dreariest take on the whole "Everyman Pushed too Far starts Shooting Minorities!" genre. If you can stomach Wolfman the Perez art is his usual best.
Give me Liberty is a bit more aspirational, but it's got some of that Frank Miller grit that a lot of 80's Action flicks and 90's Comics cut their teeth on.
And since I'm talking about Miller, there's also Hard Boiled.
100 Bullets?

is this the one with gay sex everywhere
Sure.
was a genuine question wasn't a fan of marra's other shit

u mean like a guy with guns who blows away street level criminals?
there is a rather obscure character called the punisher, u may enjoy his stories, if u can fins them
Wow, I’ve never seen this guy before. That a neat logo on his chest, I’ve never seen it anywhere, do you think they make T-shirt’s and stuff with it?
Terror Assaulter:One Man war on terror
this is just gay porn
Only if you jerk off to it.
weird fetish comic
Punisher.
I’d say something good to start with would be the chuck dixon war zone punisher stuff and war journal issues by Dixon
If you can look past the pozzedness of pic related it's very much in the same vein as Cobra.
This looks hyper gay, no wonder these soi comic writers can't compare to Stallone

>DC had Vigilante
Dropped it when the villain in one issue was a christian terrorist, cringiest shit I ever read
Wild Dog was better than Viglante
It's also closer to the subject matter to boot, I'm such a mook forgetting it but remembering fricking Vigilante.
>Wild Dog
Are there any tps?
Wild Dog has the same "utterly bonkers over the top 80s action nonsense with zero self-awareness" thing going for it that Cobra has.
Then there's Doberman. That's arguably THE closest direct equivalent. (Except it's 100% ironic and self-aware.)
