Brave New World isn't a dystopia. Its a pretty good idea and we should try it.

The point of the story is the "savage" read western literature, self reflected, honored his mother, and relied on his own strengths to survive, whereas "civilized society" was groupthink zombies with a caste system that intentionally made you alpha or beta or delta by fricking with your DNA before you are born.

That the savage in the new society is turned into an allegorical troony and acks himself

You're already living in it. If you don't feel satisfied? You're John or Bernard (without the Iceland escape route).

      Not really.
The problem with Brave New World is that it removes self-determination from humanity, which is our species's greatest blessing.
There's an easy solution though, instead of degrading actual human embryos to produce docile and unintelligent workers, just use robots to do all the shit jobs. Bingo, everyone can be an Alpha, robots can clean up the shit & everyone can get high on soma and frick hundreds of plump breasted women

Yeah the whole idea felt limiting and self defeating, but maybe that was the point.

Meaning, the idea that you would use selective breeding and gene therapy to stall and hinder the glorious progression of our species, castrating the process of positive evolution to make -lesser- human beings that are meant to stay here and work like drones instead of making ubermensch and spreading to the stars.

What was that other one, I can never remember...the Russian book, about something similar but they were building a glass space ship to escape earth? Now that one was interesting, I read it around the same time as this and 1984

I read the book thinking it would be some gritty cynical take on the future like 1984 but it's just a fricking dark comedy making fun of an incel and his tarzan friend
kinda based but not what i was expecting from something people reference so much

It’s a good book despite what contrarian idiots type about it on the intellectual titan Cinemaphile.

It's great and absolutely nailed some grim predictions but the way it's talked about I was expecting some real doomer shit not george costanza's trip through tomorrow land. Like the entire first half of the book is about the guy seething about not getting laid, then he goes through this whole religous ordeal he despises just for some pussy. Or the end where he fricking gets roped into the riot despite trying to distance himself away from it. I was giggling like a motherfricker on the planeride I read it.

Brave New World is hilarious, Island is also a great read by Huxley. Its charming and dystopian but not as silly as BNW.

The 1980s version was quite good and most close to the source than any of the other trash adaptations. It also has Bud Cort getting cucked.

Short Night of the Glass Dolls is supposedly one. Fantastic Planet is another if you are getting into bizarre allegorical tales.
