This looks ai generated
I'm looking forward to seeing some AI generated PLAN kino in the future. I thought drifting a steam engine was impressive in Polar Express, but I'd love to see what the chinks can do with this bad boy.
Most things in china looks AI generated because it's just so huge and it's all brand new
Lack of ramp is the big give away
>ramps
They will launch fighters just fine, but bombers are going to be touch and go. And bombers are the entire point of a carrier.
The entire thread is AI generated.
The carrier is a weapon built to fight World War 2 again, and wouldn't survive very long into World War 3, which receives undue funding in America because the admiralty came up on carriers, and now in China because they are culturally imitative and simply copy what they see the Americans doing.
This is correct.
Carriers are great at bombing poor brown people on the other side of the world though. Maybe China is about to start doing that.
if china did that they would start a war and they would lose because, like other anons have said, they're doing exactly what nations did with battleships in the interwar period amd just building bigger without real thought
faster more stealthy ships are the future because firepower is even more concentrated than ever before
such a massive carrier will be easily visible and easily targetted
Are you the Thai guy who posts about boats on Cinemaphile?
It's great because the same shit happened with Battleships pre-WW2
This. Two weeks into WWIII and the world's entire supply of aircraft carriers will be at the bottom of the sea as a result of ballistic missiles, cheap torpedo boats, and suicide drones built by farmers-turned-military engineers.
One of the most successful "warships" in WW2 was the Queen Mary. It would be interesting to see what a modern carrier could be turned into if the need arose.
you're not gonna hit a carrier with a ballistic missile
This is built specifically to support a ground invasion of Taiwan
It's built specifically for BBC.
imagine thinking that has any chance of actually succeeding. even the nazis never ultimately tried sea lion.
This is great antiamerican cope to post post while also ignoring how Russia and China desperately attempt power projection with their own far shittier ones, if they're so antiquated how come they've got any?
Same reason that in the lead-up to WW2 all the nations trying to invest in navy still went for some form of battleship.
>and now in China because they are culturally imitative and simply copy what they see the Americans doing.
it should be mentioned that the PLAN largely stopped their carrier program, they're just keeping what they've already got/started
the best way to learn the capabilities of a weapon is to use it yourself
The Fujian is not far from being finished and they are still building a Type 4. From what has been said about the type 4, it is modern, an all nuclear super carrier Chinese analogue of the Gerald Ford-class. While I agree that they are not exactly announcing the ships in batches of a dozen ala the USN. China does seem to be going bigger and more modern with new each class. I think it is reasonable to assume that they may end up laying down several Type 4s should they be happy with it closer to launch. Likely replacing the Russian designed ships with a carrier fleet of around 4 Type 4s + one or two Type 3s.
For a country that does not have to project naval power around the globe like the USN does. I think they are investing pretty heavily in carriers.
I personally like to think that the American military has enough sense to not run to the rescue of Taiwan when it comes down to it. It is a non-starter with the current capabilities of the USN. I would really hate to see a repeat of the Korean war, when American suffered unnecessary losses against an enemy they fundamentally underestimated and failed to prepare for. Only this time it would involve the loss of a CSG and thousands of sailors along with it.
If I were in charge of the American military. I would cut my losses with Taiwan and start investing in a massive strategic nuclear weapon rearmament campaign. Salted nukes at that. Use the threat of mutually assured destruction to make China stand down and stay within the boundaries of an agreed sphere of influence.
>It is a non-starter with the current capabilities of the USN.
China vs USN is iffy for both.
China vs USN + Regional allies puts it pretty firmly on the Allies side I think. Also B21s are getting rolled out and China has no equivalent, and maybe not even a counter, we'll have to see.
How does an aircraft carrier defend against 100 cuise missiles?
By trying to be hard to find, keeping their speed up (nuclear reactor helps a lot here), moving somewhat erratically, and trying to keep enough of a defense ring around it that the platform launching the cruise missile can't close in. The real problem is submarines, which kill American carriers more oft than not in war games.
>hard to find
Yeah, not happening.
>keeping their speed up
Are you serious? It's not going more than 30 knots, against supersonic or even hypersonic missiles it might as well be standing still.
The only thing I agree on, is the submarines.
Carriers hide all the time. Even at their size, its a very big ocean. Keeping their speed up is important, because the reactor gives them unmatched endurance, and when you're constantly moving erratically at variable but high speed, quite a number of longer ranged weapon systems have trouble hitting you.
Real life weapons aren't like a video game where everyone is in a tiny box and can't leave, and you need three seconds to lock on and shoot your laser missile and that's it.
it is surrounded with a whole group of ships, many of which carry missile defense systems, also the fighter jets can take on a defensive role as well.
Carriers continue to be underrated, you have this one Swedish submarine exercise which is shilled endlessly, but one fact that is omitted is that such a scenario would have been a suicide mission for the crew, they did not have the fuel for the return trip and would have to surface.
The only other example I can think of is the battle of Iwo Jima. Japs crippled 2 of them and sank one. And they didn't have any subs.
>sinks your entire homosexual carrier fleet killing 20k mutts with shit tier not-Iran dinghies
>USN seethes so much they change the rules so they can't lose
>uh the plan is we will just hope they have no idea what they're doing, mr president
My favorite part of this mess is that due to all the publicity surrounding this. The actual Iranian revolutionary guard decided to establish a dedicated fleet of boats exactly for the sorts of swarm attacks used in the war game. So due to the USN having their autistic meltdown, they actually helped create the very force that they had already demonstrated they were not able to counter.
it doesn't but the only people who have 100 cruise missiles are the US and Allies, China and Russia. if they go hot then why not just nuclear war?
carriers are for projecting power into zones where you are going to dominate. the roll around the coast of Iran and Iran don't do shit because they know they'll get flattened. but if the roll through the taiwan strait while china is firing, then it is armageddon anyway

I assume their Navy is constructed as sturdily as their high-rises?
The fighter pilots on a Chinese aircraft carrier are called the People's Liberation Army Navy Air Force
I'm not kidding
No ramp, it's fake.
Their new one doesn't have a ramp, but it still has a bunch of issues that might hinder its performance in actual combat. We'll just have to wait and see.
>Their new one doesn't have a ramp
I'm stocking up on popcorn in anticipation of rekt threads of jets just plunging off the end of the carrier.
The Fujian-class lacks a ramp. It actually has a direct copy of the EMALS magnetic catapult the USN has started using. A pretty big win for PLA intelligence for being able to get those plans, you have to admit. There were some pictures of it being fitted out on /k/ awhile ago and you could see that China really wanted to keep the details of the catapult hidden for as long as possible.
You are really describing the trap that the USN has fallen into with its ever bigger super-carriers. The biggest difference between the Chinese navy and the USN, is that the USN wants to be able to project force basically up to pissing range of the Chinese coastline. Where as China just needs to worry about keeping the Taiwanese strait open. What this means is that any USN CSG that gets anywhere close to Taiwan is going to be exposed to the countless anti-ship missile batteries stationed along the Chinese coast. The inevitable result here is either the loss of a USN CSG or a fear of committing CSGs to theater; Turning them into useless white elephants ala battleships in WW1.
Where as it makes perfect sense for China to build more super carriers (like the upcoming type 4), as it is going to want to project force into the south china sea. If the USN actually wants to be able to rush to the aid of Taiwan during an invasion, then it should be investing in task forces built around relatively low profile and yet highly defensible arsenal ships. The modern CSG is just not configured to be able to intercept the numbers of anti-ship missiles that Chinese missile forces are capable of rapidly deploying.
Here is a video that shows what I am basically getting at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJXWJ-Px5tU
you do realize in this hypothetical scenario that every location a missile would be launched from would be summarily destroyed.
What anti-american cope folks dont realize, is that they are basing the survey of America's military capabilities on us caring about civilian casualties. If we are given a reason to no longer worry about killing civilians, it will be a very different conflict for the other side.
The problem is that EMALS requires a lot of power to keep running and its doubtful it'll reach full capacity with non-nuclear. Also the anti-ship missile thing will only be a problem if they get into the strait itself, the east side of Taiwain and the island chains to it's north and South should be good enough to provide a reasonable amount of cover.
>EMALS requires a lot of power to keep running and its doubtful it'll reach full capacity with non-nuclear
Yes. But remember that the type 4 is right around the corner. That will be a fully nuclear carrier. It would seem that China is using the type 3 as a test-bed for the system, so that it works fine on the type 4.
>Also the anti-ship missile thing will only be a problem if they get into the strait itself, the east side of Taiwain and the island chains to it's north and South should be good enough to provide a reasonable amount of cover
Utterly false. If we use the DF-17 as an example here (capable of mounting the new DF-ZF hypersonic, glide, anti-ship munition). That missile has a range of ~1800 km. From one of the likely battery locations west of Xiamen, 1800km puts you halfway to Guam. It goes without saying, but a CSG cannot effectively come to the rescue of Taiwan from the middle of the Philippine sea.
That is before you consider the fact that even the 'short range' anti-ship missiles China has, range out several hundred kms off the east coast of Taiwan; These are the missiles they can launch in overwhelming swarm attacks remember.
This is why arsenal ships would have been a much better type of ship to build a task force around. If you want to operate in an area where anti-ship missile swarms are something OPFOR has invested heavily in. A cruiser that is 90% VLS tubes filled with interceptor missiles is going to come in much more handy then even the most modern and mighty super carrier.
I'm no fan of the CCP. But the PLA is a very real threat and not the pushover many seem to picture them as.
>Americans need nuclear powered catapults to get their porkins pilots in the air
remember that time chink carrier swam around a bit and sunk
They steam a good ham.
Rome was great because of their logistics and they use their army all the time.
In a conventional no-nukes war, nothing can match the modern United States because of how they are just so experienced with logistics.
Meanwhile, at the naval construction yard....
>chinese cannot properly make steel
>this is an accomplishment
>not getting the joke
This is just making me imagine the catapult ripping the bottom right out from under the plane at launch.
and ripping itself part way out of the deck
No, they put money towards stuff they care about expanding housing across China is not really that
jesus if that is how strong their average construction worker is imagine what their soldiers must be like
truly the most powerful race in the world

>There is rather strong circumstantial evidence that suggests that the CIA and US State Department played a key role in trying to goad on the student protestors at Tiananmen Square; much like the CIA did in Hungary in 1956, in order to provoke a government bloodbath of repression. Around the same time as Tiananmen protests in April-June 1989, the Chinese government banned a Chinese NGO of US operator George Soros, the Fund for the Reform and Opening of China, after interrogating its Chinese director in August 1989 and claiming that the Soros China fund had links to the CIA. The Soros Fund according to Chinese reports had been supported by ousted Communist Party chief Zhao Ziyang.
>Significantly in addition to the Soros Fund, Gene Sharp of the Cambridge Massachusetts Albert Einstein Institution, whose handbooks on “non-violence as a method of warfare” have been the “how to” textbook for every color revolution to date, was in Beijing days before the Tiananmen events.

it's fake
China runs 2 Kuznetsov-class carrier, basically Russian bootleg carriers. they are building the Fujian-class which is similar to the the shitty kitty.
>it's fake
While I do not know if that particular image is fake or not. The Fujian is a flat top and has been documented doing trials. Presumably system tests for an upcoming proper shakedown cruse.
>Russian bootleg carriers
Russia sold China one of its Carriers (Kuznetsov-class) and China built another of the same class on their own. So they are the real deal, not bootlegs.
Russia also happens to still have a Kuznetsov-class in service. Pic related is a comparison between the same space on the Russian carrier and on one of the Chinese carriers.

The upcoming Sino-American war will have a similar outcome and global consequences as the Russo-Japanese war.
Russia will be thrown into violent revolution again?
