brosnan and rhys-davies were the best part of it, iirc. dipped a bit too much into dynasty-tier territory but as a prime brosnangay i didn't regret watching it.
also anything shot on location was kino
If you read any of his books, his disgust of the chinese is very evident. They're all portrayed as a pack of backstabbing, duplicitous, amoral rats.
And quite frankly I am inclined to agree.
Her eating him up during the diving scene and being unable to keep her eyes off him to the point Toranaga and Kiku both notice it cannot be interpreted as anything other than lust. She even gives him a great pissed off look when he gets back from porking Kiku. Then there's the entire Kiku speaking through and for Mariko scene where she was allowed to be truly sexual with Blackthorne by translating through Kiku.
I was as hopeful as the next guy she dug him like she did in the novel but thats not what we got here. Everyone was looking at Blackthorn during the diving scene, he was an oddity. Kiku speaking and Mariko translating was ambiguous no more
>Kiku speaking and Mariko translating was ambiguous no more
It wasn't no, it made Mariko's feelings blatantly obvious, including telling John to imagine her nude. Not sure what point you're making.

The point is they could have done a much better job of telling how close they actually were even without all the fricking in the book. She didn't just lust for him but she loved him. Watching him dive didn't even hint at that. Having sex with him on the night she nearly committed suicide (and martyred herself the next day) didn't show she loved him. In the novel she was torn between Toranaga and her duty, her faith and John. In this series he is not portrayed as of equal importance.

She didn't love him by the diving scene in the original book either. I dunno if some of you guys have autism or what but the show didn't need inner monologues of Mariko saying how much she loved Blackthorne like in the book, the acting sold Mariko relating to John about desiring freedom and probably partly wishing she could be with him despite her duty. Then obviously Mariko leaving nothing after her death except her request to have the Church spare John's life should say all it needs to about her live. The Japanese are extremely autistic about ever saying I love you and only do it through actions, Mariko's protectiveness of Blackthorne should have made it obvious what she felt.

I think you read too much into what you saw on screen. Now I believed John cared for her, it was obvious how Cosmos was permitted to play him but all we got from Mariko was ambiguity.

You are genuinely on crack if you think there was any ambiguity in the brothel scene where Mariko was translating Kiku and allowed to speak what she really feels. She loved John and desired him.
Prince Charles goes to Japan, escapes from his Royal minders, romances and fricks a hot local woman and takes out a whole gang of Yakuza who plan to assassinate him.
I am not joking. The film is also kino in its purest form, you HAVE to watch it.
Do you think that John did anything with Kiku that night at the brothel?
Surely it would be rude to go into the private room alone with her and not get at least a blowjob, even if it's only reluctant
with how mariko made a big deal about how even tea pouring is perfected and his observation of the japanese autism causing them great insult if they aren't perfect, i'd say he probably went along with it
>watch the show
>wonder why the constant bwc fetishization and even some ntr
>see end credits
>lots of women with asian names in it
mmm hm
Showrunner duo is literally a married WMAF couple
it was written by james clavell not by some japanese fetishist
Clavell was also a Chinese fetishist.
i have seen noble house when it originally aired
Never did, read the book though. How was it?

Yeah it really doesn't sound like he was off the mark at all there. Did he include their weird relationship with cannibalism too?
No, but the MC 's Chinese wife/slave has bound feet.
More white women for BBC.
>asian bbc poster outs himself
Good, Black folk can have them, who needs white thots anyways?
I thought they were going to tone down the Mariko lusting after Blackthorne stuff but the b***h is eyeing him in every damn scene.
That wasn't lust. Her job was to translate for Toranaga and included non verbal signals especially since John wore his emotions on his sleeves.

Attack on Titan
This show had no romance in it. Had some asian on asian brothel fricking but thats not romance.

Christopher Lambert romances both Joan Chen and Yoko Shimada (the original Mariko), fights ninjas on a bullet train, all kinds of shit. Its kino.
