Any other big Final Destination fans here?
They’re currently making the sixth one, comes out in 2025.
I really love the concept and a lot of the execution. The fact they made so many movies with such a simple concept shows how strong it is I think
I think the main issues it had were
>over time the characters involved became too annoying and too shitty, first and second movie had multidimensional characters. Even the “butthole” ones had more depth to them and it made you worry about their lives and want them to live. Later movies fell into the slasher trap of wanting to see these nothing characters get killed for the spectacle
>the movies could never settle on any concrete rules or way to actually win, so by the last couple movies you feel resigned from the start that they’re all gonna die no matter what anyway

final destination: bloodlines
>As a group of first responders escape the clutches of death, they begin to be killed by increasingly improbable and murderous mishaps.
I’m hoping the fact they’re first responders and thus paramedics, firemen or whatever will mean they will be people we root to survive rather than cannon fodder like a lot of the previous characters
Plus since they’re specialised in saving lives who knows, might be some cool moments like reviving someone after they’re electrocuted like what happened in the first movie. Or saving someone pinned down by cutting off a leg etc
Generally just hope they’re more proactive. There’s usually a lot of sitting around and arguing until shit happens in these movies.
the rules are pretty clear, kill someone to steal their remaining time or have a baby.
Was that even clear?
Also wouldn’t this mean serial killers would live for like 500 years
it was pretty clear and nothing ever contradicts it, it would be cool if one of the future movies was about a serial killer who cheated death once and is now like 200
They should just make this the primary plot of a new movie.
A survivor from a previous disaster is killing off the survivors of this new disaster because he’s stealing their years to keep living
Maybe you can’t even kill him because it’s not his “time” to die so best you can do is restrain him or whatever
Maybe reveal he was in the hindenberg and had a premonition snd left before it blew up and is like 130 years old
also maybe there is a cap, I always thought it would be cool if they did one of these movies took place in China.
>or have a baby
How do I not know about this lore?
So the Final Destination curse goes from the mom to the baby? That's dark. I don't believe you.
It was some bullshit like new life stops deaths design I think
Also I don’t think they actually got away with it in the end, I remember them blowing up at a barbecue
the two of them lived and are not killed off screen in any of the other movies, the BBQ explosion was their friend who was supposed to die in an accident earlier in the movie.
So why wasn’t their friend covered by it but they were?
their friend was almost killed during their adventure to make up for him not being killed in his childhood, death was after him for a long time and he wasn't involved with the two main characters being drowned/saving a drowned person.
it doesn't change to the baby, it leaves you alone for creating "new life" the only way to win is to breed but none of the women in these movies puts out because they almost just died.
that would be really cool actually, imagine we a movie about the hindinberg with him as the MC then a modern day movie where he shows up out of no where and the viewers go "oh shoot wtf is this guy doing here!?!?!? he lived this long?!? :o"
I mean they’d have to somehow get knocked up and stay safe for nine months still. Most of these people barely last a week
Even then death would probably frick them over and have them die in childbirth or something
that would be a great twist for a movie, someone lives 9 months then dies in child birth as the final twist.
>the only way to win is to breed but none of the women in these movies puts out
Then by raping them with no condom, I'm saving their life? Based!
That's kinda funny to think about. Do you think any actual rapist ever put rubbers on before raping a girl?
I'd be a hero and save them both 🙂
I actually rewatched that ending because of that discussion...
There was a plot twist - pregnant woman was never meant to die, they think everything is all right and then all starts again.
Final girl ride into a lake, she drowns and got rescued - that's how she survives, by ,,dying'' for a couple of seconds.
So I guess birth theory didn't get 100% confirmation.
>I bar of soap Reddit
The 4th one is very funny. I'm surprised that so many people hate it.
first is good, second is decent. The rest into the trash it goes
death stops for no one who was filtered
I haven't seen 4 or 5 but I really like the first three.
>watching Final Destination 5
>Tom Cruise shows up
How’d they pull that off?
Reminder that Devon Sawa had a pay dispute with the studio, so he didn’t return for the sequel. Which is why they killed him off screen with a fricking brick lmao
He also complained on Twitter how he didn’t get paid at all when they refused the footage from the first movie for the last movie where the twist is it’s set in the past.
Why do studios always do this shit?
Ali Larter came back for 2, so wonder if she took a smaller pay cut and was fine or what
>Devon Sawa
Loved the dude growing up but he's a whiny crybaby druggy b***h. Him and Nick Stall should get gay married and go live on gay island.
after final destination and idle hands he disappeared
i wish they tried some deep shit. For example, a story about a criminal who was about to be executed and a cop/prison guard who was escorting him. They both get saved by the premonition. Execution is postponed because of paperwork or whatever and in the meantime cop/guard helps the criminal escape - they are both going to die soon anyway. They go into wilderness, hunt some moose, fish, have fun near the fire - just enjoying the time they have left. To make it more interesting, criminal is a really bad guy and there's no doubt that he is guilty. He can be a serial killer or whatever
that sounds comfy, how would it end?
well, death finally gets them but they go peacefully. Not the scary, panicky shit you see in all the other deaths in the franchise
that would be really comfy and a nice change of pace, esp if you're expecting it the whole time and the last few min is just them having fun camping.
I like to think one event caused all the others many years ago and the movies are all just death playing catch up. If they every tried to "explain" it it should be at that first event.
that would be really cool, he should still be able to die if he's murdered but I like everything else.
I was thinking stuff like your gun jamming if you tried to shoot him. Not like him being immortal even if you stab him in the heart
Would mean he could be a traditional slasher killer with a weapon, not really worried about being attacked usually
Anon, it's a slasher, not some philosophical drama.
>They’re currently making the sixth one, comes out in 2025.
After 5 I'm not getting my hopes up.
I think OP failed to mention that it is a reboot as well. So basically, any discourse about the previous films are null.
I'm just here for the Final Destination bawds. They always cast the hottest prostitutes.
>a reboot
What does this even mean? Most of the movies had nothing to do with each other after 2. Entirely new casts has been the standard for every movie after 2
The films really did need a connecting thread in all of them besides the black mortician (so scary!). Sawa would have been perfect, but he mistook his own worth. Or keep Ali Larter around. Something.
>reboot
I just mean to the lore and rules. Maybe they'll get rid of the premonition aspect of it. Maybe they'll get rid of death's design in favor of something else. You don't know.
mournful toes
Yikes!
>Most of the movies had nothing to do with each other after 2.
5 does
The first movie feels weirdly out of place compared to the sequels where Death as an idea is more concrete
This is because they originally had more supernatural elements, special effects etc
Off the top of my head
>main character was meant to see lightning looking like a skeletal hand pointing down at friends house, they could not pull this off without it looking awful so scrapped it
>friend who chokes to death was going to have his head decay to maggots and bone in seconds, scrapped as ideas changed thank god
>notice you see death trick people into thinking friend died via suicide in first movie, death literallt hiding the water he slipped on. Doesn’t really do stuff like this again because they preferred the concept of death rather than this personification
Also I find the psychic stuff intriguing, five movies in and they never even tried to give an explanation for why they specifically got these premonitions or why they’d get them if they couldn’t prevent their death anyway
>Also I find the psychic stuff intriguing, five movies in and they never even tried to give an explanation for why they specifically got these premonitions or why they’d get them if they couldn’t prevent their death anyway
I think it would ruin the mystique if they tried to explain it.
I think it's the best modern slasher franchise.
i googled the guy who was in the first movie, Devon Sawa, and it turns out i saw him recently in Hacks but didn't recognize him. He was fantastic
This is Devon Sawa now. Age 45
What the frick happened
I still get a little paranoid driving on the highway whenever I see debris on the road or a truck carrying lumber thanks to this series.
I'm interested but I feel the 5th one kinda closed over everything perfectly. Then again it can keep going forever.
It will get the Scream treatment so no I won't watch it
How? Will death be an incel now?
I like the series
only the 2nd movie tried to have a coherent story
the other movies are just slop about watching people die in entertaining ways
