What do you mean "cope" kek it's literally a different movie than the link you posted. The OP is the Midori anime from 1992, not the 2010s live action one.
It’s weird when they do live action adaptations of certain anime and manga especially when their SFX and CGI budgets are cheap. Like adapting Tomie and Attack on Titan? Wtf are they thinking?
Didn't consider that, checked out the first row and none of them were on my normal site but I managed to find most of them with subs (Demon City Shinjuku was dub) on the Internet Archive. Ymmv in general there but they all looked alright
one of the biggest regrets in my life(so far) is passing on a blind buyout of an old storage unit that looked chock full of old anime vhs like wicked city and night shift nurses
if only i had known how important physical conservation of media would be then
Where they English dubs or actually Japanese tapes with possible English subs? Either way they probably would’ve fetched a decent price today with collectors. Too bad anon but next time huh?
Vampire Hunter D and Wicked City were both based on light novel series so it’s too bad we never got sequels to both. Well I think there’s a later OVA prequel to Vampire Hunter D and a live action Hong Kong film of Wicked City that’s very different but yeah it’s too bad we didn’t get more.
Most of these aren't full on 'horror' like your pic, but are certainly horror-themed >Malice@doll (top tier; proto-Texhnolyze) >Chainsaw Maid >Ryuu Seiki (episode 1 at least to some degree) >Gregory Horror Show >Apocalypse Zero >Deimos >Doomed Megalopolis (based) >Vampire Princess Miyu >Darkside Blues >Hell Target (not very good) >Roots (not very good) >Makariudo: Demon Hunter
Call Me Tonight, never heard of it? Looks like it might be another Perfect Blue type movie maybe? I’ve seen Judge and it’s pretty pedestrian. Unless there’s more than one OVA that’s more gory or scarier? It’s just about a supernatural judge (a ghost or demon) who poses as a regular law clerk during the day and judges evil men like a more boring YuGiOh game outcome. Some of the more interesting titles in that list look the most obscure too doubt they even have English subtitles.
Call Me Tonight feels like it's taken straight out the Tales from the Crypt comic and that era of horror anthology movies. There's even an homage to Fright Night.
Thanks fren while I saw Demon|Wicked City|Vampire Hunter D, DDS|Revelation rest of these are new to me. Even living in Japan for a few years never really ventured into VHS markets much wasn't until dvd came out I started collecting moar, though I do have around 70ish VHS tapes.
This film is funny in that the original animator had a clause in that it could only be shown at carnivals or whatever but he didn’t plan on the internet happening I guess?
Yeah the only reason this film is interesting is because aside from the voice acting it was a one-man project by a jap animator, and it's actually banned in Japan because it has one frame of CP iirc. Other than that, it's just body horror and misery porn that isn't even very good.
The comic it’s based on the mangaka Suehiro Mira or whatever? He’s been an underground artist for years but most of his work couldn’t be animated because a lot of it has underaged characters to say the least. I’m pretty sure if that lost film Go For the Punch aka dead schoolgirls in a bathroom would be his because it sounds like something he’d make.
NOOOO THE HECKIN CARTOON PUPPERINOS
Pupperino got stomped out.
What's this?
pls no
keep it to yourself pls don't ruin it pls just let it be unknown i beg of you
Just posted about Midori (1992) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0930902/
on reddit 🙂
What sub?
it's been watched by every emo and alt girl in the past decade. it's not secret underground shit, moron
Midori. You can watch it on the site "effedupmovies" if you want. Lot of gore and body horror.
The poster looks 100x better than the film.
But anon that's a different adaptation, this is about the animated one.
Cope. It's J-slop at its finest.

Doesn't matter if there's a cartoon version for kids the actual film looks like complete trash. Terrible Japanese "acting" and "wacky" scenarios
Do you have autism?
You're in a Cinemaphile thread talking about anime. We all have autism.

japanese misery porn
a girl stomps on a dog to make soup out of it and it explodes like something out of a fluffy pony comic
>a girl stomps on a dog to make soup out of it and it explodes
Kino
>a girl
anon...
I forgot the little details
it's been two years since I saw it and I'm not in any hurry to watch it again
>girl
The kicker is she’s a troony or femboy. Or at least she is in the original manga.
This is fairly surface level because I can't personally vouch for anything in it, but I have this chart from a Mega I got a while ago.
Awesome, thanks anon.
I can vouch for Biohunter and the vampire Hunter D movies. Perfect Blue is also really good, but more 'psychological thriller' than straight horror.
A lot of these are hard to find online. I imagine a lot of them are on VCR tapes and shit and people are too lazy to upload them.

>Devilman
lol whole list is trash then
It’s not the Crybaby Netflix one it’s the superior kino OVA series from the 90’s you pleb.
Ah yes, "kino"
>dub
Still heads up better than any idolshit trannime being made today.
Haven't watched everything here, but I would definitely recommend Vampire Hunter D and Wicked City they're both great even if you don't like anime.

Need to check this out.
add hellsing
Hellsing the original unfinished 90’s series or the finished but rushed DVD movies?
yes
I watched the television series then the later movies together but I kinda wish someone would do a massive edit of them together.
No Iczer One? That had people mutate into alien monsters like immediately out of nowhere.
I like how the girl looks gonna watch that later
Supposedly it’s a classic anime OVA series. Haven’t gotten around to watch it myself.
Surface indeed. Watched Puppet Princess on Tubi not long ago and it's pretty much just splatterpunk on a par with the Ninja Scroll movie
Pretty awesome poster

Violence Voyager. Try to get the Japanese version but the English dub
Looks cool, thanks for the rec.
If you just want mindless gore with a paper thin "plot" there's plenty to go around. MD Geist, Genocyber, Angel Cop, Violence Jack, Kite etc
Also the "Bio" series of video games and also Guyver, cause of HR Giger. :3
There’s a plot in Angel Cop it just stops the police work to have random gory shootouts.
Based recposters.
Wicked City is kino
Different than Midori though, more of an action film
Shoujo Tsubaki is great but I'd put it around the middle in Maruo's entire oeuvre.
Halloween is Grinch Night
