yeah
It's pretty good so far. Maybe they went a bit too far in making Starscream a bloodthirsty monster, but in a way it's refreshing to have a villain who's just unambiguously evil without a deeper reason behind it.
The cannibalizing page was a bit much and dragged down the whole thing for me.
I don't like the idea that everyone can be just broken down for parts, so Prime just using Megatron's detached arm as his own just feels dumb.
They're robots. Why couldn't they?
The Ark is the height of taste and design.
>The Ark is the height of taste and design
The goldenrod interior is lowkey icionic
Was it this hard to write Optimus Prime? I'm talking to you, all Transformers media of the last 20 years.
Because these four issues have been knocking out of the park so far.
I honest to god would pay if we got Cullen reading some this Prime's dialogue.
most versions of Optimus for the last 20 years have either been trying to do an original Optimus or basing Optimus on his Transformers The Movie appearance (not even the cartoon, just the movie)
>Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, debuted an all-new trailer showcasing upcoming Energon Universe storylines in Void Rivals, TRANSFORMERS, Duke, and Cobra Commander.
>In the new trailer, dark forces rise across the galaxy. New heroes embrace their destiny. And Shockwave intends to create his own. The Decepticons have made their move, and no one is safe. As the Autobots fight for Earth, humanity’s own heroes will rise…alongside their greatest rivals. However, the true secret of this war is…More than Meets the Eye. Welcome to the Energon Universe. The exhilarating new trailer that can be viewed right here.
>The Energon Universe officially began in June 2023 with the surprise first appearance of iconic TRANSFORMERS character Jetfire in Void Rivals #1 from Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), Lorenzo De Felici (Kroma), and Mateus Lopes (Step by Bloody Step), introducing the historic new collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, with TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics finding a new home with the publisher. Then TRANSFORMERS #1 from writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb, DC’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth) and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon) kicked off a brand-new era for the iconic franchise. The Energon Universe recently expanded with the launch of Duke #1, a limited series from Joshua Williamson (DC’s Superman, Dark Ride), Tom Reilly (The Thing) and Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33) and Cobra Commander #1from Joshua Williamson, Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook) and Annalisa Leoni (Oblivion Song). Fans should expect can’t-miss moments from every issue of the Energon Universe, as secrets are unveiled along the path to answering the BIG questions.
So far, each of these is pretty good...expect for Void Rivals, that just feels like a slog.
To me Void Rivals feels like a bunch of old Sci-fi movies thrown into a blender
>The acclaimed Energon Universe series continue to sell out at the distributor level, with fan demand prompting subsequent printings across every issue since launch.
>Upcoming releases across the Energon Universe include Cobra Commander #2 (Lunar Code 1223IM259), Duke #2 (Lunar Code 1123IM272), TRANSFORMERS #5 (Lunar Code 1223IM323), and Void Rivals TP Vol. 1 (Lunar Code 1223IM247).

told you they were killing off Megatron early
Galvatron by issue 10
Megatron's with Cobra Commander
keep telling yourself that, his arm's off
homie, it's literally in the first issue of Cobra Commander where we see Cobra Commander torturing Megatron
Are they really gonna kil Soundwave?
there's not enough Decepticons as is.
Eh, they can get more.
I don't think any character who dies at this juncture is going to stay dead.
I know they said they wouldn't include any OCs for a while but at this rate they may have to if they keep cannibalizing the cast like this
Do you know how many transformers there are?
There's a lot. Even if you just stick to the original toy-line and Marvel/Sunbow OCs.
Reminder that Kirkman wants to see Star Saber and thinks Animated Bulkhead is cool
They have A LOT to bring in
The weapon or the character?
So based on the ending on #4 and the previews, it’s likely it’s Reflector’s[spoiler] time to shine then right?
Based on the context of the question, about Transformers appearing in the wider space setting of avoid Rivals, he’s talking about the character.
Actually you have it backwards, they campaigned for a female Transformer to be in the movie which allowed them to add Female Transformers in Season 2, since both were in different stages of production at the time.
Getting Star Saber for a major role would be cool.
KIrkman's Bulkhead will be based on a certain TWD character, and possibly die with a crossbow to the head
If they killed 10 Autobots and 10 Decepticons per issue, every issue, we'd run out of G1 characters by 2050.
Then we'd have to go through JG1, G2, BW, BM, Armada, Cybertron, RiD, Animated...
They could kill a dozen Seekers every issue for a year and still not run out.
Honey! The new Are All Dead just dropped!
>And the Autobots learn they may have more allies than they imagined…
YO JOE!
It makes sense but we'll have to see how the next few issues play out
Since Duke is already six months ahead on the time scale
Doubt the Joes are formed by this point (unless we get a time skip)
I was gonna guess Thundercracker. Hopefully he's ticked off at Starscream and will join up with the Autobots to rescue what remains of Skywarp at the 'Con HQ.
Joe TC is pretty much a common now thanks to IDW
If Anything Windblade, Arcee and Chromia will be the basis of the JOE vehicles on earth thanks to Wheeljack copying the designs.
It will be interesting if the Combaticons will be rebuilt by Cobra, and Swindle will be the ambassador and weapon dealer for them
why is my boy always getting shit on with covers
Vacations over, I can rejoin the fun. Is he still a whiney b***h to some degree or did they do something more with him. I haven't picked up a tf comic in a long time
This is the perfect Starscream
>literally kicking the puppy
is this a deliberate reference to that one GI Joe panel?
Ravage is a cat
Grolton is the dog
Soundwave brothers, we cannot let this go unpunished.
Frick Starscream.
Long live Megatron.
I guess this means Ravage is still alive. Good.
Skywarp is just a head and torso, wired into a spacecraft
Even if he's somehow still alive this is like a darker version of what happened to him in IDW1.
Don't worry, he'll be revived as Cyclonus's Armada
That's not OK.
Joke's on him, Ravage will outlive them all.
how long before Carly starts grinding on Cliffjumper's gear stick?

>G1 Transformers
>BUT it's dark and edgy and people DIE
Yeah, no. I've seen enough fanart and fanfiction of this premise to last a lifetime. It's nothing new. Anyway I'm so fricking sick of G1. I was born in the 90s and it feels like G1 has been around forever.
I don't know if you realize this, but...G1 is the default. You sick of teen Peter Parker? Forever hunted and misunderstood X-Men? Batman being Bruce Wayne and crying about dead parents? Too bad. G1 is the status quo. Forever.
There was an entire decade where the only real status quo was general designs for Optimus and Starscream, that a guy named Megatron was the main villain and there was a yellow guy who hung out with the humans.
There was years where Batman wasn't Bruce. Superman had died. Peter was no longer a teen and happily married.
Guess what. Go on, guess. Take your time. Really, think hard about it. Want a hint?
They all returned to the status quo. Guess what happens with Transformers, too?
Pretty sure Peter hasn't been aged down. And destroying his marriage is so unpopular they still keep teasing about undoing OMD.
And it's not like it was a year. The Beast Era, RID2001, The Unicron Trilogy, even the live action movies (when people gave a shit about them) aren't very G1 (bar the same way the UT is) which caused an infamous amount of butthurt.
Book is nice through.
>the live action movies (when people gave a shit about them) aren't very G1
The movies are actually very G1 compared to the stuff immediately before.
We'd probably still have Hot Shot and Red Alert in place of Bumblebee and Ratchet if not for them.
>The movies are actually very G1 compared to the stuff immediately before.
The only thing G1 about the Bayverse movies are the character names. And the overall color schemes of Prime and Bumblebee. That's it.
That's why it was such a breath of fresh are for so many fans when Travis Knight came along with that opening scene of the Bumblebee movie. Six movies in, it was the first time anything about them felt G1.
>The only thing G1 about the Bayverse movies are the character names. And the overall color schemes of Prime and Bumblebee.
Which is still more than before.
Again, these movies brought back Bumblebee and Ratchet (and Jazz but he died lol) after they fell into trademark hell.
It saved Ironhide from being a name reused at random to being codified as Optimus' tough-talking grizzled old friend.
Yeah, the characters weren't that close to their G1 versions past some superficial similarities but they brought back a degree of consistency that the franchise hadn't had.
The irony of the butthurt over the movies not being G1 is that they paved the way for all the G1-inspired media since.
>Yeah, the characters weren't that close to their G1 versions past some superficial similarities
Bay Ironhide, Ratchet and Jazz are more or less identical to the G1 versions.
It's funny how despite their reputation, the Bay trilogy is super influential on the franchise.
The Bay movies were taking plots straight out of G1 episodes.
The only thing truly "G1" about Bumblebee was the Cybertron sequence and a few designs. Sector 7 and mute/radio Bee is from the Baymovies, the villains are OCs, the made Starscream and called him Blitzwing , etc. It's a better movie, but acting like it's the G1 movie people wanted in 2007 is fricking stupid. Entirely swayed by a tacked on addition.
TBF, that sequence did lead to some neat toys (even if having High Moon, BBM and 86 all in one line might be overkill).
Well, the SS line is still a big seller. Hasbro had to make SOMETHING.
I'm just saying that having actual G1 and two different flavors of Modern G1 with Cybertronian modes is kinda weird. Especially since they're now dipping into concept art only stuff for one of them.
I don't remember the G1 episode where Optimus turned into a murderous psycho war criminal and everyone turned into a mishmash of walking garbage piles.
I thought there was an entire planet of mishmashed walking garbage piles in the postmovie season. could be remembering wrong though.
You mean the Junkions?
Maybe? It's been forever since I watched all of that, I mostly just remember Optimus coming back to life and Galvatron ending up on the therapy planet.
No, they looked like robots, not walking trash piles, ironically.
The truth of the matter is that in the late 80s and through the 90s most long running franchises whether they be Comics or TV underwent drastic changes in tone and content sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst.
Then in the mid 2000s their was a concentrated effort by the guys who grew up with the 70s and early 80s conceptions of these franchises to turn back the wheel on their existence and to create platonic ideals of said franchises to mess around with forever.
This, depending on the quality of the works released in before that moment either served to restore quality to characters and franchises that needed it or served to undo a decade or more of character development and growth within these franchises, depending on if you think the interim period was good or not.
Either way it left an orphaned generation of fans who grew up with the continually changing conception and resent having the developments of the time taken away and fought tooth and nail to get the good ones back in.
Thing is, Transformers is still not G1 stuff. Much as these whining c**ts b***h about "muh geewun", the shows, aka the defining feature of Transformers, are all new concepts. There hasn't been a G1 revival show, we're not getting Season 5 Transformers. Yet these c**ts b***h if they catch one whiff of something that doesn't look like whatever shit they slurped up as kids.
Actual, factual protip: Transformers series will always be different continuities. Most work with the usual G1 framework (ie: space robots crash on Earth and bring their millennia long war with them), but that doesn't make everything fricking G1. So suck it up, you whining shits. Your childhood ain't coming back, G1 ain't coming back, and you're moronic for b***hing everything is G1.
Also animated was dog shit, and Beast Wars was the best written series, Bay movies were shit, and the only good TF movie was the 86 one.
The only Saving grace of Animated was Slipstream
Starscream but if girl was a shit idea, like the rest of animated. Seriously, what do people see in this show, I will never understand it.
Roboe-girl in brown meat packaging
Robovioli in a brown meat packaging? Sounds delicious.
I think a lot of the complaints would be reduced if Hasbro bothered making good toys for the 'major' cartoon lines rather than just a bunch of weird gimmick figures and a few actual traditional transformers.
>sick of G1
>born in the 90's
Opinion disregarded, munky fricker.
I like it. Optimus Prime with Megatron's arm is badass AF and Cliff>Bee.
its true, cliff>bee
Considering where Megs is, I wonder if they would give him his G2 body? Or maybe a HISS Tank one
glad I'm not the only one who remembers how Megatron got his G2 body.
That one was actually pretty rad, he got a railgun upgrade, so he didn't just blew copious amounts of hot air but actually shot unstoppable bullets that penetrated everything and had a range of millions of miles. He now had both brute force AND pinpoint accuracy.
And then he went and resurrected Starscream.
>Why? That's what they all asked me. Why him... why Starscream? Why, of all Decepticons, did I decide to revitalize the one whose record of deceit and betrayal is legend? Because I'm an idiot, that's why!
Reminder that Alexis and Miko are attracted to Starscream.
They got Metal Fever.
Prove it.
Did you watch Armada? Alexis wanted him bad.
Okay then I don't remember what was the episode? Also wasn't Alexis 11 during the series.
When he died she broke down crying.
And yeah, 11.
just watch the last 15 or so episodes, even I could tell it felt like something more than her being friendly to him
Yeah she is, but Japan. There's even a symbolic aspect where a israeliteel he gave her breaks when he dies, which is common to show a loved one died in shows.
>Yeah she is, but Japan
What?
Also what did she see in him?
>Also what did she see in him?
The same thing girls always see in robot planes?
Never watch G1 is it any good, also is that Mikala.
>Never watch G1 is it any good
From one episode to the next it can be the best of times and the worst of times, but if you like Transformers it's worth watching, the G1 cartoon and the Marvel comic are the foundational stuff.
>also is that Mikala.
No, that's Astoria, she was Powerglide's human girlfriend who was sadly only in one episode.
It's an 80's series designed to make kids want to buy toys.
So yes, it's good. So is Thundercats, He Man, etc. These were all designed to addict viewers and had to be at the very least tangentially watchable, or else it failed in it's goal.
Now, is it dumb, corny, etc? Yes. But it's a fun watch.
?si=4Zs9BDRwRB5DFIpv
You tell us.
>episode about ships being attacked from a Muslim country
Time really is a flat circle.
That was pretty good?
Yes, yes it was.
the OG botfricker. love that crazy rich b***h
I'd honestly love to see Powerglide/Astoria be a thing in a more modern versions of G1, but only if they don't change her personality or design at all. Powerglide never gets used in anything anymore though.
human/cybertronian ships are underrated generally, and hasbro are too cowardly to make any canon (outside Brawn/Cover Girl in that one mini)
Weren't Arcee and that one guy hitting it off near the end of IDW 1.0?
Or am I getting second hand accounts from people with shipper goggles on too tight?
hitting it off and getting it on are two different things
IDW Arcee was a lesbian, bro.
>IDW Arcee was a lesbian, bro.
They made Springer into a woman??
Worse, they made a lesbian fembot OC.
Was Arcee being a trans lesbian psychopath who was also Galvatron's brother the weirdest bit of Transformers lore ever? I think it definitely beats Kiss Players, especially with the fricking cover with Arcee humping Galvatron's leg.
its up there
>Was Arcee being a trans lesbian psychopath who was also Galvatron's brother the weirdest bit of Transformers lore ever?
It's definitely one of the weirdest things that was an important ongoing aspect of a series, rather than some weird throwaway thing that's just in one issue or episode and never mentioned again.
>especially with the fricking cover with Arcee humping Galvatron's leg.
I don't get the mentality of the person who'd retcon them into being siblings after that already existed.
None of this would've happened if Furman wasn't a fricking autist. But no, his sperging moron ass couldn't handle the idea of female robots among a species of essentially shapeshifters, which in and of itself takes some massive fricking mental gymnastics to see as being 'wrong' in the first place by this addled limey twit, that he write them as a man forcibly turned into a woman by a mad scientist.
I sincerely hope Furman is banned from anything TF ever again, the stupid frick and his goddamn "ALL ROBOTS MUST BE MALE" autism.
Furman didn't come up with the idea, it was Budiansky, late in his run on the Marvel Transformers comic. Furman never paid much attention to the cartoon except for the movie, Arcee was the only female Transformer he really knew or cared about, and he's tended to have little interest in creating OCs unless they're just there to die in the same story.
At the time he was coming up with a reason for Arcee to be the only female Transformer, he couldn't have forseen that he'd be taken off the books, or that they'd keep going in the same continuity for another ten years without rebooting, or that later writers would move away from war stories to do more worldbuilding and introduce Transformers relationships which weren't even a thing back in his day. He clearly meant for IDW Arcee to be a body horror thing, and probably didn't even think about it as a trans thing, which wasn't really on normal people's radar so much back then.
He wrote Transformers as a war comic, probably had some level of inspiration from old British war movies that were all about men at war, with little or no room for women, and most Transformers fans back then just wanted to see the toy characters they grew up with, not OCs or obscure characters who were in one cartoon episode. This was never some massive issue that the whole fandom was furious about until the Roberts/Barber comics and Prime brought in a whole new generation of fans. Nobody really liked the IDW Arcee origin, but nobody was sperging out about Furman blocking Chromia, etc from being in the comic.
even before Budiansky(who wanted a female ratchet), Hasbro mandate told them "no females". They had more control over the comics than the cartoons and I don't think they ever communicated that they were ok with girls now.
>At the time he was coming up with a reason for Arcee to be the only female Transformer,
but she was never the only female Transformer, a whole bunch debut before Arcee was ever created.
But not in the comics. Somewhere along the line it was decided to make the TF movie canon to the comics despite the inconsistency . Mainly, this meant bringing in the TF movie cast.
The old Marvel comics were trash anyway. The stories were generally crap and the art was hideous.
What TF stuff do you even consider good?
G1, JG1 , BW, DW, IDW1 (not Robert's shit). Don't care about RID/Unicron Trilogy, it exists, but I'm not for or against it. Don't understand people's infatuation with animated, it was ugly and average at best.
Bayshit belongs in the deepest pit of the darkest hole drowning in shit and piss for all of time and anyone who likes it should be shot into the sun and their names and family lines expunged from history.
I don't think this amount of anger over something as dumb as transformers is healthy Anon.
I don't care what you think, I also see you can't differentiate a joke from reality.
>IDW1 (not Robert's shit).
so wait
you like Furman there but not in Marvel?
Furman only wrote the early shit. And it's easy enough to get past his shit writing
So like, you're big into Mike Costa and John Barber then? I mean fair enough but I never thought those writers had fans lol. They're just kind of there.
Kys
This remind
>Bot is called Powerglide
>Doesn't turn into a glider.
Episode? It was a major part of an entire character arc spanning multiple episodes in the latter half of the series!
I'll pick up the tpb. Individual issues are too expensive nowadays.
That's how I'll probably do it too. When is the first book out anyway?
By all estimations the first six issues mark a set
So five months maybe? Two for the next issues to come out and three for them to assemble the trade
First 6 issues tpb is out May 8th. Pre-oder is up on Amazon.
So is it better than IDW2019?
It can't be worse than the first IDW run.
yes
I'm enjoying it more than IDW2019.
Don't know much about the first IDW universe.
a fan favorite gets killed by a karma houdini. Not even Unicron could kill her as she weaseled her way out through a time loop.
What the heck is this even a reference to? Is "Karma Houdini" some TVtropes garbage?
MUCH better than IDW2.0! Then again, IDW2.0 was mind-numbingly boring 95% of the time, so it's a low bar to clear. But yes, the new Skybound continuity is fun so far! Fingers crossed that it can keep it up for the long run!
All in all, it means Bumblebee need a new head.
Love the writing, hate the art. Needs a better artist.
get new eyes, frickwit. DWJ's art kicks ass.
Frick off lackwit. It's shit art for mecha. Too humanistic, too off model.
>too off model.
>Transformers
>On-Model
Thighs aside, it looks fine.
It's just going for more early looks before they started doing a lot of panel lines.
Nah, it doesn't look fine, it looks like shit. Glad he's getting replaced for art soon.
don't think you'll like the new guy much, this is how he draws tech
Jesus, that's almost worse. Why the frick do they keep grabbing losers who can't draw mecha worth a shit?
DWJ is a way bigger draw than any of the IDW artists.
No one cares. None of these artists are a "draw" for anyone but their fanboys. And honestly, it doesn't even fricking matter anyway. They're not heading the book forever, this ain't like manga where it's one artist forever. Western rags are lucky if they can keep the same artist for 2 issues. Eventually if we're lucky the revolving door will spit out an artist who knows how to draw a fricking robot, but I won't hold my breath.
Luckily this chicken scratch shithead can write well, because otherwise he would need to find a new line of work.
please name some modern mecha manga with art you like, I'm legitimately curious.
>None of these artists are a "draw" for anyone but their fanboys
He won an Eisner last year
No one cares.
Mate, this is the highest selling Transformers comic since fricking Dreamwave
Say what you want about his art but you can't deny Kirkman hiring DWJ was a massive sell
The writing is good and it's been a long dry spell for TF comic fans with the end of IDW1 being largely kinda shit, and IDW2 being the most lifeless, boring thing most people have ever read. This series is starting with a bang, with a well known name tied to two large media franchises in recent public memory (aka Kirkman, via Walking Dead and Invincible), so of course it's doing well.
1. Kirkman's own recent comics (which largely outsold IDW Transformers judging by Comichron) haven't reached the levels as Transformers right now
2. This is a lot of people's first Transformers comic period because of the talent that was hired to helm this
Most licensed comics get either new, inexperienced writers and artists (or talent solely in it to work on specific licenseshit) and don't pay as well as Marvel and DC so Kirkman getting the likes of DWJ and Joshua Williamson for Hasbro properties was genuinely surprising and it means he's not just banking on brand recognition for this series
I care
he's just gonna say no one reads "western"(always cracks me up when weebs say that, you're a fricking American most likely,or at least European, the word western has entirely different connotations here than what the direct usage of the term has in Japan) comics, anyway.
DWJ, as writer and heading up this branch of TF fiction, is in charge of the art direction and as such is clearly going for guys who match his sensibilities. He cares more about capturing the feeling of dynamic motion than clean, pristine technical work. And really, is there any IDW or DW guy that you think can even do motion all that well? I remember EJ Su being pretty good at least.
But I also have long wanted to see Ashley Wood do a TF series so I'm sure out tastes don't align.
Kirkman is only going to hire industry professionals who have been working with Skybound before instead of praying that some random fanartist can shitout a montlhy book like IDW. Cope and seethe.
>western comics
>the land of nepotism incarnate
>'professionals'
kek wew
Again, cope and seethe
You seem to be the one seething, given you keep jumping at any mention of dislike over this one artist. Sorry his art is shit bro, don't know what to tell you.
You've invaded every single transformers threat since this run started to seethe about how much you hate the art and post multiple times about how you want to murder his entire bloodline because he drew your precious toy "scratchy" but yeah sure you're not the one malding and seething.
>he thinks it's one person
lmao
You really are seething aren't you?
>hurr durr I'm not samegayging durrr
Frick off samegay
>N-NO IT'S ALL ONE PERSON
>IT HAS TO BE
>NO ONE ELSE COULD EVER DISLIKE MY DARLING
Holy fricking cope anon, you need to touch grass.
>samegayging this hard
Frick off to tfw2005 or whatever shithole you crawled out of.
>All caps green tecting
>NOOOO
homosexualry confirmed.
Considering this whole genre's origins is Go Nagai, shut the frick up.
Difference there is he could draw a robot well.
>still crying
lol
lmao even
>it’s all one person
>thing I don't like is all 1 person
>but we are legion
I have no dog in this race but you whining fricks need to shut up and accept people don't like the art. All you're doing is encouraging shitposting at this point because you're booty blasted some don't like it.
>samegay still seething
No, please, keep seething. I'm sure it's having the effect you want and not just you being extremely anally ruptured.
It's ok samegay if you cry really really hard on 4chin Kirkman might bring whatever shitty manga artist you want on board 🙂
>still seething
Just caught up on the thread and I can't believe the same homosexual who whines about people not liking this TRASH art is still here. You're in every thread cryin' people don't like it, are you a NEET?
nah a lot of people like DWJ, mainly the weird older millenial hipster queers who love gay shitlike wrestling and 80's power metal semi-ironically.
Nah a lot of people just don't give a shit. Like most of the people in this thread. Except the one weirdo who is sucking his ballbag.
>one weirdo
People generally like the guy's art.
Best thing to happen to Transformers since Animated ended
Never read the comics are they any good and what's your most favorite and least favorite?
Perfect time to start, the new continuity just stared a couple of months ago and it's been godly.
If you want to read old comics the Marvel series is a classic but it's a bit weird because of how different it is compared to the shows.
IDW is mostly a complete shitshow so I would honestly say don't touch it.
Are we allowed to talk about fan fictions?
Why IDW sucks at everything?
I'm about to read the Prime comics.
I hope for the following.
Jack and Miko hook up.
June and the agent get married.
Raf and Miko parents show up.
Arcee and Optimus get married.
Don't hold your breath.
Well at Miko parents aren't abusive.
What are the chance that Bumblebee get turned into Goldbug?
Zero, at least as long as DWJ is writing.
Are there ships that you guys like?
the arc is pretty cool and I like the various ship designs from the animated movie
Tidal Wave! Tidal Wave! TIDAL WAVE!
The Nemesis, The Victory and The Revenge are all cool. Decepticon spacecraft are usually good.
which Nemesis? G1 Nemesis or giant planet sized cyclops Nemesis?
The first one, it's the only one I know. What's the planet-sized one from?
Beast Wars II
After the absolute homosexualry that IDW descended into towards the end, this series is a breath of fresh air. I like the Decepticons being evil douchebags and not UwU misunderstood little queer beans.
I prefer them being villains, but they're soldiers who've been fighting alongside each other for centuries. I'm fine with them killing Autobots and humans, but there should be some level of loyalty and camaraderie between them, they shouldn't all be willing to turn on each other as quickly and easily as they're doing here. I'll allow Starscream as an exception, but this shouldn't be the norm.
I think the implication is that starscream had been the leader for a while even before the crash and the deceptions had already devolved into a bunch of bandits under his command.
This is probably what would happen if the 80s cartoon Starscream would have led the cons long enough. Minus to the whole unhinged bloodthirst.
I like how it's finally a Transformers book that reads like barbaric giant robots waging a civil war on this crazy planet Earth, not transsexual robots in gay relationships having wacky outer space adventures where the fight personality ticks and perspective traps.
So you like all of Transformers other than specifically Robert's run of one side story in one continuity? You could've just said that, moron.
DWJ Carly is cute
Is it me or are the humans characters are extremely bland.
earth girls are made for cybertron boys
Is Beat Wars really popular or is that a meme? Also is it me or is most fanfiction about Miko's parents are massive c**ts?
>Is Beat Wars really popular
Blaster had his own show?
I think he meant Beast Wars.
Noooo
I'm pretty confident he meant the DJ battle spin-off and not a typo
Eat a snickers anon.
Where can I read it?
readcomicsonline
JFC how new are you?
What does Human to Human interface mean?
So can we talk about GI Joe as well as Void Rivals, or should I just make a general Energon Universe thread?
Given it's a shared universe, might as well keep it all in one thread and just list off everything in it. That way the comic dumps keep it all in one place and keeps the threads lively.
You think DWJ will address female transformers and size shifting?
I don't think so because he already has Soundwave transforming into a tapedeck.
Actually, I remember Soundwave transforming so that Laserbeak can evacuate him.
Arcee was confirmed main cast before the book even launched
They've been skirting around size changing (I don't think we've actually seen Soundwave's alt mode yet) because I think they want to have it be a big twist when Megatron is Cobra Commander's gun
It would be nice if they embraced the size shifting.
Alright I'm going to walk through this and make sure I understand the new origin of COBRA and Cobra Commander correctly
>Cobra La is a subterranean civilization of humanoid snake people that follow strict doctrines of using natural resources over any form of technology
>Cobra Commander is an orphaned surface dweller they reluctantly took in. His trademark helmet a requirement for his residency so the populace doesn't freak out at the knowledge of a surface world.
>Cobra Commander is intelligent, showing some ranking in the hierarchy of this civilization under the ruler's watchful eye, but sees this society is inevitably doomed unless something changes
>Cobra Commander secretly creates a science lab with followers
>At some point they find Megatron, estimated time of arrival on Earth is unknown but clearly before The Ark crashes millions of years ago.
>Cobra Commander detains, revives, and studies Megatron, creating new technology that has been reverse engineered from Cybertronian knowledge
>Cobra Commander orchestrates a civil war in Cobra La to prove his point about where their society is headed if they don't act now, and it backfires thus leading to facial scarring
>His schemes where uncovered, but makes a convincing argument to the leader. His mission; go to the surface world, build an army, and take over the planet in the name of Cobra La
>COBRA organization is a means to this end, created by Cobra Commander striking deals across the planet and bribing guys like Destro with Cybertronian weaponry
That about cover it? I think it's apparent that Megatron will destroy Cobra La upon his escape, thus explaining his damaged stasis condition on the surface as seen in the last Transformers issue. COBRA's new mission may become slightly altered after discovering this, meaning he'll also want to revive Cobra La's species.
With that all said, thoughts?
Will Destro's tech at MARS be impressive for Cobra-La standards or will his technology only be impressive BECAUSE of Cobra-La tech Cobra Commander provides?
I think MARS is already the leading weapons R&D/manufacturer on the planet, but Cybertronian tech is going to put them WAY over what anyone else has. Cobra Commander's partnership with Destro is for resources to further explore this technology.
Doesn't line up with the timeline books are showing. Megatron in the valley would imply after the events of Cobra Commander #1, as that book indicates they've been studying him for some time. Plus Megatron destroying Cobra La and then falling back into stasis would further drive Cobra Commander to act on his own.
CC clearly mentions 'other energy signatures' in the outside world, clearly talking about the Transformers, who are probably still active.
Duke takes place like 6 months after Transformers, Cobra Commander could take place in that interim (or even longer if the theory that all the MARS tech in Duke#1 is based on Megs isn't true).
I think Megatron was recovered by Cobra-La after we see him in Transformers #4.
Cobra Commander could easily be set some time after Transformers, especially since he mentions similar energy signatures to Megatron showing up.
>Megatron in the valley would imply after the events of Cobra Commander #1
I understood it as Cobra-La finding Megatron from TF#4. The timeline is fricky since we don't know when Cobra #1 takes place compared to TFs and Duke.
I doubt it since Cobra La appears very strict about isolating themselves. They wouldn't venture upwards to get him. Plus that would create story issues for Transformers
Oh I know the rest woke up thus leading to Cobra Commander departing to find others like Megatron to exploit. Sometime between then and Transformers #4 Megatron must have escaped and destroyed Cobra La with his last remaining strength before falling back into stasis.
