Anyone feels like this was the first Pixar movie that misses the mark?

No, that would be Toy Story 3. It literally insisted upon itself.
TS3 is way better than Up
lol,
lmao
Toy Story 3 was a lot of fun. Can't say the same for Up.
wrong, but the sequels were unnecessary
FPBP
This. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate Up after the intro is a dimwit.
the first ten minutes is a masterpiece of dialogue-free storytelling. i don't remember a thing about the plot to the rest of the film
>the first ten minutes is a masterpiece of dialogue-free storytelling
in a vacuum, yes. in the context of the rest of the film, its emotional manipulation to get you to care about the incredibly mediocre movie that follows
Disagree. It puts the rest into perspective. It explains his persona and why he puts up with the annoying kid. It also explains his reaction when meeting his childhood hero and seeing who it really is.
The intro becomes much harder to watch the second time btw, because you'll notice hints at what happens later. It's really well-made.
the rest of the film is complete trash, its just the most dangerous game with a bunch of dogs
This. I can't tell you what happens after the intro besides they're in the jungle and they meet a talking dog. No clue what the plot is.
It's really not even that good.
>SQUIRREL!
Made me slap my thighs together with laughter tbh
finding nemo (2003) was baskin roberts slop, sorry but u know it
It gave us more Giacch(k)ino.
their best
third act is such a fricking letdown
As a hopeless romantic/meek shut-in loser, this movie has always appealed to me
I don't know about that, but I do know when I First watched it, it felt very "artificial" after the setup story ends. I think it would have just been better if it were the WW2 writer story and the old man and his wife together.
In fact I'm only just learning with some googling that not every version of Up begins with Paperman, so either the place I watched it manually stitched these two together, or there's some lost version out there.
Also rewatching it for the first time in at least a decade, I dunno why I thought this took place during WW2. Silly me.
Too much suspension of disbelief asked from the viewer.
i was kinda old to be watching cartoons back when this was out in kinoplexes but a younger cousin of mine, age 7, saw it and said (and i quote) "it was weird and sad"
>it was weird and sad
Out of the mouth of the babes
It's not their best but it's infinitely better than Toy Story or Cars.
>better than Toy Story
No
>better than Toy Story
hell no
>better than Cars
definitely
No it was absolute kino
Brave was the first movie that made people start losing interest in Pixar.
So if the adventure explorer guy was a full grown adult when Carl was a small child, how are they roughly the same age when they meet up? What is the explorer guy, like 130? Shouldn't he be dead?
That was Cars.
Cars was better than Up.
This, but Cars was still okay. Personally the biggest letdown was The Good Dinosaur. Probably their worst movie ever, even though it's not absolutely horrid.
>old man inflated and tied all those balloons in one night
>kid steers the house off-screen from america to venezuela using only a GPS
>dogs with collars that translate their thoughts into speech
>explorer guy is still alive in the present, and doesn't look older than protagonist despite the age gap
>it's never shown if the kid's parents are aware that their son is missing, nor does the kid seem to care
Bingo. Even children pick up on the fact that things happen in the film just because the creators wanted them to. What I remember fully is the fact that the explorer dude had a gun but the gun was literally never shown before it's brandished. He just has it, and then the audience has to accept that the stakes are higher because a gun is involved.
Cars is a good series, a personally like 2's spy movie theme and the destruction derby from 3. I wish they explained why/how the old man died between the movies.
Toy story has its moments, i think 3 is better than 2 overall, save for the human parts. 4 is just a rehash but again, has its moments.
Up is parent/grandparent cry bait and i agree the rest of the movie is forgettable.
My kids are currently alternating between minions (the 1960s uk one), the shitty Black personmusic infested Grinch movie (2018?), and mario. I've watched mario about 100x, in parts.
They also liked the spongebob movie, the one with keanu reeves as a tumbleweed.
It's certainly the cutoff point.
Did Pixar make Ratatouille? If so, this is definitely their best movie (for the love of god no one post *that* pic, I'm not fishing for that, I just like this movie a lot)
Kind of a stressful movie. Not very comfy.
For me it was Ratatouille. First movie I felt once was enough.
