AOSTH isn't that great of a cartoon, but it's probably the truest to Sonic's essence.
He's a wandering free spirit with a bit of a wienery and impulsive streak, but always fights for what is right.
His big bro-little bro/surrogate parent relationship with Tails is the best incarnation of that relationship, too.

Yeah it's like one of the first episodes. The one I expected to have a Sonic Sez segment about the dangers of gambling. But not at all, puzzling decision.

yeah unlike SatAM which only connection to the games is having Sonic, Robotnik and Tails. AoStH is plausible enough to have the games take place there.

It's the only one that did not add a lot of unnecessary shit like freedom fighting against evil overlord Robotnik. And any other weird forced drama that they thought the games were lacking.
This one kept to the games with Sonic being just an animal hero guy that comes along and stops the random Robotnik plan of the day.
Every other major Sonic tie-in media did have Sonic as some kind of underdog that was fighting back after robotnik took over the planet. I don't know why everyone did that.
SatAM was furry fanfiction with Sonic’s name attached. It became the standard because “muh serious”. Nowadays you see more people taking AoStH side because SatAM unleashed an ungodly amount of autism into the world.

AOSTH is the good kind of bad. The kind of bad that is so bad it reverses into being good and hilarious. Robotnik is the best character on the show and Coconuts, Scratch, Grounder are great.
I legit feel bad for Robotnik here. Maybe it's because I know what it's like to have your toys destroyed by a parent, but I would try to save that toy.
