GODS I WAS LYING BACK THEN
FPBP
Although, to be fair, "discuss the release of" could just mean he's confirming to them that it will never happen.
Can't wait to see the Cinemaphile seethe when their god Stannis the Mannis dies like a b***h again at the beginning of Winds.
He probably won't die until the middle or end of Winds
Not just this one specific thing, but imagine having a do-over on everything the later seasons of the show did wrong and still repeating the same mistakes all over again.
>Lannisissy armor
He would never. Frick AI and frick you too. Fat arse'd prostitute mother having BASTARD.
>huge and complicated
they are tbf, not that they are remotely hard to follow, but GRRM has written himself into a corner with all the random plotlines
>main character is named Jon
>21 other characters named Jon
>12 characters named Aegon
>15 characters named Jeyne
>Hmmm I’m a midwit and want to seem smart on a Chinese cartoon forum
>I know I’ll pretend I’m the one person that never got mixed up between Osney and Osmund Kettleblack
>hurr durr it’s super easy to follow at all times please think I’m interesting
>unfinished series is longer than the bible and the LOTR trilogy combine
>hurr durr they’re not that long
>guys don’t you think im such a good reader don’t you think I’m mommys good boy
The books are long complicated, anyone can read or follow them but they must remember many characters and plot threads, you’re just being a contrarian homosexual
>britbong publishers
they can burn in hell for all I care, shitty bindings, shitty print and shitty paper
at least for the mass market paperback editions
40 year old bantam spectra books hold up better than a few months old penguin UK shitbook
2rightUR
Weird rant but ok
I hate that the publishing israelites don't release paperback right away
I don't want a hardcover I want a softback to go with the other softbacks I have
So download it for free before the pb comes out.
too late you fat frick. I don't remember much of what was in the earlier books. this means that they weren't that memorable so I won't be re-reading them, or you new slop either
and you can't write nature. go outside chubby. you loved Tolkien so much that you took a conformation name so that you could have similar initials, then you shit on his work once you get famous? his nature scenes laugh at yours.
George is still better than 99% of fantasy writers which isn't saying much, but it seems like all the new shit coming out is just YA fantasy romance written by black women.
I was actually talking about this in another thread on another board. It is concerning. Fantasy writers have become stupid. If I have to tell someone that a wizard’s staff is a piece of technology, to the detriment of the book that says otherwise, then you have a real big problem regarding education.
Fantasy writers like Tolkien and George have more tact with fantasy/magic than the vast, vast majority of writers today. We’ve gotten dumber. The whole ‘magic vs science’ debate is a good litmus test to see how smart/dumb someone is. It’s much the same with ‘fantasy vs sci-fi’.
For some reason nobody knows what magic is anymore. Tolkien did. For some reason it shocks people that Tolkien’s elves don’t believe in magic. They fail to see the nuance.
>For some reason it shocks people that Tolkien’s elves don’t believe in magic.
Literal immortal tree people aren’t magic? Maybe Tolkien is an idiot?
You failed the test.
It's either you or Tolkien who is the idiot, anon..
Immortality is just a traitor. No magic involved. Are you about to tell me that elves not growing beards is magic too?
>quotes like saying verbatim, “don’t believe in magic.”
>anon restates it as, “aren’t magic”
you one of those morons who can’t follow hypotheticals or imagine what others might be thinking from the limits of their perspective?
Magic is supernatural and the opposite of physics, it cannot be science
Please gas yourself.
The way I see it a good fantasy book/story is a story that's good in its own right that incidentally takes place in a fantasy setting.
> Fantasy writers have become stupid
The problem is that, while the publishing industry as a whole is crippled with nepotism and crony hires, fantasy has been hit the hardest by it.
If you’re a white male writer that didn’t get his foot in the door by the early 10s, good fricking luck getting published
It’s hilarious how offended people get by Clarke’s “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” quote, when you could just as easily also say something like “any sufficiently sophisticated physics is indistinguishable from magic”.
Not only are fantasy writers today mind boggingly stupid and uneducated, their readers are too. They don’t help.
physics can't be "sophisticated", though. it's just a description of reality: it either is or isn't.
science can be sophisticated or unsophisticated because any scientific concept is on a continuum with early stuff like the discovery of fire at one end and advanced hypothetical concepts at the other.
you've dunning-krueger'd yourself into imagining yourself smarter than the guy who predicted geosynchronous orbits.
>physics can't be "sophisticated”
Lol, you do realize technology is literally just applied science/physics, right?
You DO realize magic, in any fictional setting, is far too convenient and practically alive and artificially accounted-for, to the point where it’s superpowers, for it to NOT be the sophisticated design of some imperceptible intelligence, right? Even if it’s just the author?
Sorry, a fireball is *sophisticated*. You also failed the litmus test. You are stupid, I’m afraid. It’s terminal. Don’t breed.
>You DO realize magic, in any fictional setting, is far too convenient and practically alive and artificially accounted-for, to the point where it’s superpowers, for it to NOT be the sophisticated design of some imperceptible intelligence, right? Even if it’s just the author?
that's not relevant to the point of the original quote, which you seem to have missed. Clarke wasn't talking about fictional magic.
*sufficiently advanced* in the quote refers to technology that the person observing it doesn't know enough about. if an observer is familiar with the physics behind creating an effect, the technology is not sufficiently advanced for the quote to apply.
The beauty of Clarke’s quote (third rule) is that it can be interpreted, and re-interpreted, many different ways.
You suck, anon.
Physics is so sophisticated humans have been treating it as magic since the dawn of man.
At its simplest you have the ancients looking to the stars and considering them gods.
What does the physicist say when they confront something new and/or bewildering? “Hmm, that’s weird, I wonder how that works”. Existence is a magician. Magic is a magician
I get your point, but you aren’t on the same page.
>Clarke wasn't talking about fictional magic.
Fiction doesn’t contain its own internal logic?
Technically, magic can’t even exist in fiction, not from a sufficient scientific angle. In that sense, magic is itself just an angle.
Imagine if gunpowder ONLY functioned in a specific barrel size/shape of a penis, one engraved with ‘peepee’ in Latin, and ONLY if you spoke ‘cum diablo!’ before pulling the trigger.
I think that’s the kind of “conveniently constructed” or “artificially sophisticated” he’s referring to, anon. Not your fault you can’t dissect a spell using logic.
Fireball *only* shoots in a straight line, from your middle finger, after screaming “Bababooie!”. Also, you had to roll into a ball a mixture of bat poop (guano) and sulphur, and no matter how much you add to it the mixture it ALWAYS produces the SAME size of Fireball.
Magic like that is like pushing invisible buttons on an invisible machine. Is it ‘behind’ our dimensional perceptions? Maybe. But it’s still heavily artificial. Who built it? The gods? The grand wizard of the world? Doesn’t really matter, since it would require an intelligence either way.
Settings like Dungeons & Dragons come across as closer to science-fiction when you bother to analyze how robotic it is.
this isn’t really what tolkien writes about magic. magic is the extent your will can influence reality. there aren’t really mechanical spells unless they’re riddles created to test the person attempting to use the magical thing. magically powerful people in LOTR don’t learn metaphysics, they can just influence reality with their willpower to a greater extent
He wasn’t talking about lotr magic you fricking idiot
>Physics
>it either is or isn't.
Mate did you miss the last 100+ years of physics? Ever hear of wave-particle duality?
Pseudoscience
tolkien was a christcuck who literally believed in magic. he thought bread turned into flesh every sunday
This, some things have to be understood to be beyond explanation. I fricking abhor the idiots like fat ass Martin who want to ask about a fricking tax policy in Tolkien's beauty.
A thought occurred to me recently that we may never get fantasy series like ASOIAF again, they were really something of a 90s phenomena. Although Martin and Rowling have had critics for being lowbrow, they were still heavily influenced by classic literature and these influences are evident in their work.
Now modern "authors" are influenced by ASOIAF or Harry Potter, or Star Wars and Marvel movies. And they have far less imagination and creativity.
>or Star Wars and Marvel movies
Yeah I really think fiction books will be forever tainted by authors who grew up with movies instead of books, not to mention people who grew up with tik toks and youtube videos
People can still choose to read books. They were abbreviated versions, but i'm so glad i grew up with these at least.
that series was kino and i will fight anyone who says otherwise
who cares about magic frick that gay shit pham
>this tree-man has a beard
>what...oh what shall I name him....hmmm....
>For some reason it shocks people that Tolkien’s elves don’t believe in magic
Based elfs
The average fantasy/sci fi nerd (think annoying redditor), has zero knowledge of anything, but what they learned in school. That's why you see these adult children obsess over stupid minutia in a story.
Brandon Sanderson has ruined fantasy 🙁
magic system magic system
I put zero thought into my confirmation name. I don't consider myself a Catholic anymore, but i kinda wish i had actually picked a good one.
Yeah right, they're probably calling him to get their advance back.
>met with his publishers
That doesn't actually mean anything, he met with his publishers numerous times when Game of Thrones was ending too
Publishers probably got George in a room and asked him why they shouldn't just kill him right now kek
>I think we'll have better chances with the widow, George
>So good fricking bye and thanks for nothing, you fat fricker
>*chainsaw noises*
I chuckled
they probably asked him to just fricking release part 1 of a fricking 1.4K pages book
>discuss the release
Ah yes, something like, "yeah I'm totally finishing it before I die, for sure, perhaps another fortnight and it will be done."
i for one trust the plan
This. The book isn't finished. It will never be finished
>fortnight? I just wiped out tomato town!
There could have been a good joke there Carlos, but this wasn't it.
>missed a chance to say “mayhaps” instead of perhaps
see yourself out of the thread
None of you deserve a new book for being such ungrateful and hateful homosexuals
None of you actually appreciate anything
a significant amount of my mind is given over to remembering trivial details from his books that will never pay off. people have a right to be disappointed. plus its so incredibly obvious that the show's ending was his ending so there isn't really anything to wait for.
>that will never pay off
Yeah, just say you never read these books the way they were meant to be read.
These books run, thrive on, deep mystery. If I knew the identity of Jack the Ripper I wouldn’t tell anybody—knowing the truth is as much a curse (ruiner) as it is a privilege.
I bet you read the books demanding George reveal places like Asshai to the reader, when that’s besides the point. “Here there be dragons”.
If the books don’t ever get finished, it will be appropriate. The mystery continues. The truth dies with the fat man.
That's right anon, cope now maybe itll hurt less later.
actually no its the opposite.
I was mostly interested in the character and plot payoffs and now I know they lead somewhere that's only going to work if GRRM pulls off a bunch of "execution" magic which he probably just doesn't know how to do.
plus a lot of the big reveals in the show (WWs are a CotF weapon that went wrong, bran becoming king) are just lame or uninspired. I don't care any more.
>plus its so incredibly obvious that the show's ending was his ending
why do showgays always repeat this even when you spoonfeed them how irreconcilably different the books are from the show by the end of books 4 and 5.
Shut up fat frick
>None of you actually appreciate anything
incorrect. i'm currently going through the works of this autistic fat frick and finding it to be quite enjoyable
great post
wrote his most well known series in private, released it when it was finished, even wrote a great continuation because his editor asked him to.
The Wizard Knight was probably one of the most beautiful books I've ever read.
Gene Wolfe was a master of SFF. No one else comes close.
sell me on it
Like all literature, you can pirate it for free online and read it on your phone in between jerking off to gay porn. What more reason do you need?
he makes his living because people like me buy them. it’s an exchange. we don’t owe him shit
Go to bed, George
12 years. Almost 13.
Outside of the copium itt im now pondering as to how a release of TWOW would be handled as its been anticipated for so long how do they properly announce it after so many have either lost interest or have sat in cynical seething since 2016
>met with his publishers to discuss to release
>so george, ready to release this shit yet?
>lol no
Literally didn't happen
Thank you for your twitter service, anon. I knew it was nonsense, but it's nice to have it confirmed. Even saying "discuss the release" doesn't mean anything. "Hey George, we want you to tell us how the book is doing so we can release it." "Oh, uh-- it's good. Real good. Check my blog."
I can't imagine the struggle it must be to get that guy to admit he's sick of GoT's plot. He clearly loves the world, hence Dunk and Egg and the Fire and Blood series, he just doesn't wanna finish the series that made him loaded. He's a prick who lacks any conviction, one look at the guy confirms it.
all i care about is theon, jaime and jon anyway, he should just release a book about them and say all the other characters got brain damage and had to go to the hospital
>all i care about is theon, jaime and jon anyway
Great taste, of course, Theon and Jaime were both getting really interesting.
You are missing one very important Mannis, though. I won't see my boy dicked down dirty like the show did, even if it's obvious he can't win (though he should).
yeah i forgot him, although he's not a POV tbf
I find it impossible to respect fat people. Just looking at them confirms they are lazy and stupid. Imagine killing yourself because you can't resist eating 30 donuts a day, disgusting.
I’m skinny but I still have the temptation to down an entire packet of custard creams
these people must eat far more than that to get to their sizes, im far from the healthiest eater and i still somehow keep my weight at a good level
They're just like any other addict, though their addiction immediately betrays them with a simple glance. The way he talks about his writing even screams "addict brain": he won't just admit the problem, it's always stupid shit about how this and that got in the way, how fans were mean to him at some point, how tired it all makes him, blah blah blah. Never taking any accountability, the problem is always external... even though it's his series.
Boy, fat people really do piss me off.
>Setting GRRM up to look bad here
As if anyone could possibly set Gurm up to look any worse than he already does anyway due to his own failings.
We apologize, Lord George. Let us show our repentance and devotion to you by taking turns sucking your tiny, 22% Ashkenazi israeli, wrinkly pecker while the other anons provide you generous servings of New England sourced buttered atlantic lobsters sided by large christmas coke cups and with some other anons, dressed as pages and squires with golden threaded tabards, sing the bear and the maiden fair.
When will gays learn that the shows ending was originally Martin's but seeing how hated it was he kept his mouth shut and is NEVER writing an ending for it.
why do showgays talk about the books
The same reason poorgays talk about money
Not true in the slightest, these situations ofte have more nuance, but this is the exception, D&D are just moronic
he's never finishing this because the intrigue that'll be added by him dying before he can finish the series is bigger than anything he could write and he knows it.
>so what do you want to discuss about the date, George?
>the fact I haven’t got one. get fricked, losers
I tried to read his books once, bored me to tears. Chocked full of stolen ideas, but repackaged in derivative ways, literal food menus for some reason and the occasional attempt at some ultimately unengaging prose. All round definition of mediocrity, which he can't even be bothered to finish.
Still the greatest American fantasy author of his generation though.
George is like an artist making a collage with stolen ideas.
>literal food menus for some reason
>for some reason
do not forget all the coomer garbage. Can't go 10 pages without sex
Good artists copy. Great artists steal.
>Still the greatest American fantasy author of his generation though
He isn't even a legitimate fantasy author until he finishes something that he started
>So George,..
>BEFORE WE BEGIN, NO I AM NOT FINISHED WITH WINDS OF WINTER, NO I DO NOT HAVE A DATE, AND YES I NEED ANOTHER ADVANCE. ALSO FRICK YOU.
>OK, I think we're done here..unless you are open to a ghost writer?
Stopped caring about this shit when the show started airing. I knew then it was the beginning of the end. Most recent book was shit too.
S
I stopped caring a long time ago. I won't even read it.
what actual tv show can fill the GOT void (obviously first 4 seasons tier quality), bros? nothing hits the same
black sails
Didn't Black Sails get prematurely cancelled?
nope ran to its conclusion
I will check it out but I always read mixed reviews on that, some people say its GOT tier some say its woke slop
I liked the first 3 seasons but I stopped watching around season 4 since Ragnar was carrying the show and it turns into a shit show after that
it's got homosexuality, just like the first seasons of GOT. of course this triggers /misc/
The Black prostitute being the smartest character in the show is far worse than the homosexualry.
one of the best shows ever made
if the women dialogue was cut in half it would be undisputed kino champion
When do I get my undiversification and quiet-female ai edits guys come on
Vikings
Not even kidding.
Vikings is some of the biggest missed potential in tv. All they needed to do was depict Ragnar’s sons destroying Britain for four seasons.
I stopped watching after like 20 minutes
the way they talk about Britain like it was this mythical distant lands that only they could reach with a crystal is just shit
merchants and sailors all over Europe knew about Britain, trade was going on since the fricking bronze age
Same. When it comes to historical things shows you can always tell whether it’s going to be shit right away. If the writers couldn’t be bothered to acquire more than a layman’s understanding of the era then why should I fricking bother.
yeah to discuss the cancelation of the release of the winds of winter
I imagine the discussion went like this:
>We'd like to release The Winds Of Winter
>I haven't written it yet
Honest question but why did it take so long???
1. His writing style is powered almost entirely by "making it up as I go along" and when he had to give the showrunners an outline it destroyed the sense of discovery he relied on to keep himself interested as a writer. He's one of those "the characters tell me what they want" guys but he's stuck in a position of "the plot tells the characters what to do" and he can't reconcile those two things.
2. The loose sense of plot he DID have in mind had to be completely abandoned due to point-1 leading him down ten thousand different rabbit trails. He feels no sense of urgency to finish the next two books because there's no possible way he can wrap everything up in two books. This is exactly why the show developed teleportation and "just because" logic near the end. He could either do the same and REALLY piss everyone off, or spend 6 books wrapping it up. But he doesn't have time for six more books and...
3. He's now finally the rich and famous author he always wanted to be.
tl;dr - He'd rather enjoy fame/wealth in his final decade than bust his ass just to leave the story 20% unfinished as opposed to 50% unfinished.
Yeah but it's not really that difficult to see where the trajectories of the characters will take them eventually and everything is telegraphed way ahead.
The main issue is that he saw his work completed in the show and now ALL there is to do is put in the work and pad it out and write it as a couple of ponderous books. It's just boring busywork at this point to write it all up.
Other than King Bran, everything in the ending was obvious by the end of book 3.
Hard to see that one coming but it makes sense within the context of what's going on.
All the individual characters, no matter how noble, turn out to be impaired in some way and would make bad rulers in one way or another, so someone outside of that context is necessary. Bran is such a character because he can see the larger picture.
Also, asoiaf started as a blatant Dune knockoff so it makes sense that the person in charge at the end would be a "god emperor" of sorts.
Jon would be the perfect king
Jon is a Black person lover who lets wildmen and minorities into the realm.
The freefolk are good northern boys who just need mo money for dem programs.
>asoiaf started as a blatant Dune knockoff
Elaborate?
Nta, and i wouldnt say "blatant" rip off, but there are a lot of similarities between neds and letos arcs
think about it no matter what he shits out everyone will call it shit. if he never releases LE FINALE TO LE EPIC STORY OF THE 21ST CENTURY then it will always be good because what you make up in ur mind will always be better than what he comes up with
Black person, I don’t care if that old fat hack finishes that book and I haven’t in years. Also, even if he does finish it, he still has to finish the final one (which he won’t).
The ending, his master stroke, was also revealed in the tv show. It's not like he's going to write anything new or different. We all already saw the end.
IT'S COMING OUT IN JANUARY AHHH I CAN'T WAIT!
TWO MORE MONTHS
Bullshit.
Jon Snow? Back to the wall.
His lineage secret? Irrelevant
Danny? Goes loopy and has to die.
White Walkers? Casually defeated.
Jaime? Irrelevant
Ironborn subplot? Irrelevant
Stannis subplot? Irrelevant
Rhollor subplot? Irrelevant
All the Essos stuff? Irrelevant
Littlefinger scheming? Casually foiled.
Stoneheart subplot? Irrelevant
Dwarf and cripple? New rulers
Bravo.
There's absolutely no way that Tyrion ends up on the ruling council nor survives. He's gone insane and is a 'bad guy' out for revenge saying he will be the monster they always said he was.
It was just a phase anon.
No he will survive. George will flirt with a villain arc but won’t go all in.
I like the theory that he will get is tongue cut out, and end up some kind meister or wise man or whatever
he won’t die, but yes he’s going full villain. he already talked Aegon into going to Westeros instead of East to meet Dany. now instead of becoming allies, they’ll be rivals and cause far worse damage.
he’s out to simply ruin everything, and he sees Daenerys as a vehicle for that. probably going to engineer either her meltdown or the perception of it in the public eye.
people don’t realize the point of the ending of his arc in KL was for him to learn that no matter his good intentions to help or rule, he’ll be torn down and betrayed by everyone. he finally accepted it and now operates out of pure spite.
>All the Essos stuff? Irrelevant
always has been
shut up
I think Winter will come out eventually but Spring never will.
>an extremely long wait for winter after which spring will never come
An impressive meta narrative from GRRM
"I need a 10 year extension"
>Look
>So basically I'm just gonna not write the book
>I Know..... UGH I know... I'm sorry!!
>It's just that I'm not gonna write it is all
>HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I believe it when I see it. For all we know he just showed up to tell them not to expect anything before 2028.
I wish I could kidnap George and keep him in a little cage and bully him
i dont even know if i'll read it. there are so many plots and subplots that i have completely forgotten about and i'd have to re-read the books. theres no way im reading those books again, it took me like half a year to finish them
I read them fervently when I was an underage but it was hard to make them flow again for a re-read
Entering the chamber of scrolls, he threw a cursory glance in the direction of punchboard. A thick coat of dust accumulated on the table, and the board's nooks and crannies looked snowed in. His gaze wandered towards the window, but the curtains were drawn for the sunlight was known to intercede with his thoughs. He ran a calloused palm across the wide swath of his midsection, making creases in the silk of his gown. "Like fluid of so many olives..." he thought to himself. Olives brought by ships and by land to his estate, wondrous spices to be gorged, fluids to be poured over pork and loin and - why not? - buttered carapaces of animals who met the blade upon his request, foals who dissolved under the slobber of his lips, floating in the soft suet cave under the waves of silk. Ponderously, he lowered himself upon the stool, drawing loud protests from the titanium coils wrapped around the base of the squat structure. He sighed, and the motes of dust swirled in what rays of light still penetrated the gloom. A great gurgling sound echoed through the chamber. "Ah, yes," he said to no one in particular, "I think I am the only one privy to this language." Creaking like a Myrish galley in a winter storm, he waddled towards the door in the back of the room. He shat his way to the marble bowl, but when he finally lowered his breeches, he found that the sails of his smallclothes were still only bottom-heavy. Sighing, he distributed his quivering thighs over the oval opening. A spatter ensued, querrulous at first, then receding like footsteps in the soppy ground.
It's in GRRM's best interest to never finish ASOIAF, as there is no way he can live up to the hype and no matter how good his stuff might be, people will still shit on it.
Other the other hand, by never finishing his story, it will be discussed and speculated on endlessly.
>no matter how good his stuff might be, people will still shit on it.
Nah people would be thrilled if it was even close to the same quality as the other books. They want anything better than the show that they can consider official.
But you're right that he's not going to finish it, because he doesn't have anything better than the show ending. He used the showrunners as crash test dummies and now he knows his plan isn't going to go work so he's not going to put it out there under his byline. Either he has no ideas separate from where the show went with it, or he just has no ideas at all. Either way it's ogre
GRRM had a very hot take on the show LOST and it's also thought to influence him. How the show was incorporating time travel and an alternate timeline and how it all ended up just being heaven. This is thought to be the first time he stalled and re-evaluated his ending. Then his show ended up having the much worse ending than LOST. He really owes Damon Lindelof and Cuse an apology.
>GRRM had a very hot take on the show LOST
>they better have something good in mind for the end. this better pay off here
my fricking sides have left orbit
It's honestly.....hilarious. This sort "spat" the two had. I didn't love the LOST ending, and I think the whole "flash-sideways" was an utter waste, but the core ending for the characters was pretty good.
?si=QJNdfis5ad9bMde8&t=1580
This is the best part and a great come back.....and Id love to hear what Damon has to say now
?si=4jczp9_wViVGs3lX&t=2820
WELL I'LL BE GODDAMNED
I didn't know this fat frick said this about Lost and here we are 12 years later waiting on Winds of Winter with 0% chance that A Dream of Spring will ever be released
I actually thought about how Jon killing Dany could have worked
Everything is the same except when Jon plunges the dagger in her heart the earth starts to shake and the camera looks up at the moon which suddenly cracks
They defeated the Night King but caused the Long Night with the killing of Dany who was a prophet
the show ends with all of continental westeros covered in ice and filled with the dead
Iron Islands are fine
and the old world is no longer warm
final scene is in Assahai and its a bunch of b***hes doing magic with demonic shit happening
why would any of that happen
its how the first Long Night happened
Azor Ahai killed his wife and it saved the world
a legend from a different place has the same story except it caused the long night
>Azor Ahai killed his wife and it saved the world
No the Last Hero did that blood sacrifice to make the dragonsteel sword and that sword didn't end the Long Night. The old legends says that the Last Hero went to look for the help of the Singers and the power of the Old Gods. They formed the Night's Watch and fought the Others during the battle of the Dawn.
>In the North, they tell of a last hero who sought out the intercession of the children of the forest, his companions abandoning him or dying one by one as they faced ravenous giants, cold servants, and the Others themselves. Alone he finally reached the children, despite the efforts of the white walkers, and all the tales agree this was a turning point. Thanks to the children, the first men of the Night's Watch banded together and were able to fight—and win—the Battle for the Dawn: the last battle that broke the endless winter and sent the Others fleeing to the icy north.
>How long the darkness endured no man can say, but all agree that it was only when a great warrior—known variously as Hyrkoon the Hero, Azor Ahai, Yin Tar, Neferion, and Eldric Shadowchaser—arose to give courage to the race of men and lead the virtuous into battle with his blazing sword Lightbringer that the darkness was put to rout, and light and love returned once more to the world.
>According to these tales, the return of the sun came only when a hero convinced Mother Rhoyne's many children—lesser gods such as the Crab King and the Old Man of the River—to put aside their bickering and join together to sing a secret song that brought back the day.
Bloodraven said "for every song must have its balance" so the secret song is probably the song of fire, the Dragonlords, to balance the song of ice, the Others. That would explain the valyrian steel being dragonsteel made by the Last Hero and the Singers.
Never write stories.
>BRO LE EPIC NIHILISTIC DARK ENDING
Shut the frick up George will never do this go watch Rick and Morty. Good will triumph over evil and sacrifices will be made for it to happen. Jon may be too traumatized to enjoy the world he saved, Bran may be too dehumanized to find any joy in his rule, but summer will return to westeros
i wonder if GRRM read/watched attack on titan, i bet he'd be inspired by that ending too lol
>by never finishing his story, it will be discussed and speculated on endlessly
You are really overestimating ASOIAF's current staying power. If George doesn't finish his life's work, this will only discourage younger generations from picking it up. It'll slowly fade into irrelevance as the older generations die off. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened to a franchise that used to be massively popular. George is willfully destroying his legacy, because he's a fat atheist who doesn't give a shit what people will think of him after he's gone.
Especially considering the TV show already told us the ending and it 3/10 slop
Tolkien btfo. LotR gays in disarray
The worst thing about TWOW is how short the novel will feel. Daenerys will end the book without or barely setting foot in Meeren, Jon may be revived in the final chapter, Stannis may or may not defeat Ramsey. It's going to seem like not much has advanced.
I highly doubt this. We‘re opening on three huge battles. The battle of ice which will resolve Stannis vs Ramsey, the battle of fire which will move the mereen shit forward, and Euron in oldtown which will probably have great significance as well. I’m guessing Jon will come back earlier than expected, remember that the nights watch burns their bodies and even if they didn’t he’d decompose. Them just leaving him on the ice was an oversight in the show, there has to be some immediate intervention or Jon’s body will be put to the torch, I’m predicting a ghost prologue since Jon likely warged into him when he died
Dance ended with so many cliffhangers even just the start of Winds will be full of payoffs, I couldn’t say whether Dany will be on her way to Westeros by the end but she definitely won’t be stuck with the Dothraki for the whole book and George will probably actually do something with that other than Le naked fireproof girlboss burns a house down and gets another army
if stannis loses at the start of the book after how those israeli hacks treated him i'll be seething
Stannis literally does not have a purpose in the story after this battle.
He is there only to frick up Ramsey and so that the red witch can hook up with Jon.
Stannis will take the black after learning that blood magic is dishonorable
I think martin is hinting at stannis pulling a napoleon on the frozen lake
Damn ai really fricked the perspective in this one
Jon was never to be king because he's too much of a naive and inexperienced good boi. He doesn't have what it takes to juggle the grey morality of it.
Dany is entirely out of touch with what's going on in Westeros and is delusional in thinking she could rule such a complex kingdom and that the people want her at all. I was expecting her to go back to Essos and rule there, since she actually cared about changing things and so on.. I figured she'd only get used to get the dragons to toast the white walkers and then return after making peace with Jon.
I think GRRM always meant for Bran to rule since his crippling is the event that started the entire story and nobody would expect him to rise up to that position. But his special ability in the end makes him perfectly suited for it since he becomes pretty much a living computer.
the others are going to win in the books, whatever bran will be the king of it wont be the seven kingdoms
Nah, the entire point of the dragons existing in the books is to toast the white walkers. That's literally all they will be used for.
That's what George wants you to think. Dany is going to make the situation worse. The moral of aSoIaF is women ruin everything.
In the books it's clear as day she's going to return to Essos to rule there.
Too much time was spent on her fricking around there and establishing her rule.
The show just made her into a last second villain for cheap blockbuster thrills.
The whole point of her arc in Dance is that she doesn't want to rule anymore, she just wants to conquer. Dany has already gone full mad queen.
And the entire point of her further character arc is to realize that conquering is overrated.
Not likely. George wrote Dany as a way to get readers to sympathize with and understand a big bad guy like Sauron. She was always the villain.
I disagree on the basis that too much time was spent reading about her escapades in Essos.
If we were just meant to see how a villain is formed we wouldn't need that much time spent on establishing her over there.
The only way it makes sense is if she actually goes back and makes good on the notion that she wants to help.
She can't help Westeros, because Westeros is helping itself. People that have roots there and grew up there and toiled and so on are fixing Westeros.
She needs to fix the place where she belongs, which is Essos and she'll come to realize that.
She can still be a compelling villain by being forced to always make tough decisions that alienate people around her and in turn make people turn on her, which invites more schemes and plotting against her etc, making her always alone until her inevitable snap where she assumes her conqueror role while still trying to save Westeros only to be viewed as a villain (or orquestrated as one) and falling again prey to darker incentives. It's could be a hell of a ride and now I want to play Middle War Shadow of War.
you’re close but not quite there. so much of asoiaf is about perception. it almost doesn’t matter who any character actually is or what their intentions are, how they’re perceived is everything.
that’s part of why his vehicle for exposition and the basis on which fateful choices are made are always perception.
if you reread the scene with Jon talking to Benjen about wanting to join the NW, Jon perceives it utterly differently than it actually is, and grrm lets it play out in all the little details.
Similarly, Catelyn’s perception of Tyrion leads to her choices that set off the war.
It doesn’t seem to matter who Rhaegar actually was, only how he’s perceived after his death.
The tragedy of Dany’s character is that we do get to see her internal world, and there’s enough for basic human sympathy. but she’s going to be received as the mad king reborn, regardless of who she is. that will her undoing. so in the end we’ll see her just be the mad queen to everyone, and acting decisively or authoritatively will reinforce it. she might even just give in and embrace it by the end.
Bran is going to steal Jon’s body, assume his identity, become king and marry Sansa.
>sansa....the rape...taught me a few things...
Kino
not happening since Bran's body was already stolen by Bloodraven
bros I'm starting to think Bloodraven might be a bad guy
yea
The Children of the Forest created the White Walkers to kill men
men say that the children lost control and fought them with dragon glass
the truth is the children are satanic as frick and the reason why the first men wanted them dead was because they knew when the children kept stealing babies and sacrificing them in front of weirwoods
So who is the 3 eyed raven?
Satan/ The Lord of Light
the whole Night King trying to kill bran is to trick bran into eventually allowing a dragon north of the wall to be killed and given to the dead army
Bran is the reason why the wall falls
and he knew every bad thing that was gonna happen
this is book bran not show bran
if the children had the power of the lord of light why did they need to make the white walkers, they could have just used shades
The theory that they made the walkers to defend themselves from men is a lie
the children are pawns like the walkers and the prince who was promised are.
The prince is promised to the army of the dead
so what exactly is the root of the problem then
humans invading Westeros and wiping out native life there. It’s all about the intelligence living inside the weirwoods.
thank god someone else gets it.
Meds
Jon Snow comes back as wight and retakes control of the watch, making him the 999th Lord Commander. He is the Night's King.
Dunno about all that, but it always did strike me as deeply suspect that the children of the forest chose a literal clueless child to replace their pet all knowing tree god man. Kind of suspect they'd pick a human to do it at all, really.
the starks share the same lineage as the night kings people
Sure, but there's still children of the forest running around, why don't one of them meld with the tree? Why did they choose Bran, a naive child with no real knowledge of the world or its cruelty, to replace their other pet human tree monster?
Seems a little fishy.
they cant
the tree thing is blood magic
they dont have the right blood
I fricking hate showgays. Hes a greenseer, 1 in a million.
bran has what they need in a flesh host, just as BR did. it’s really simple and not suspect at all if you know who’s in charge and what they’re looking for.
wrong, the 3ER created the WW. the Children are just a symbiotic/slave species. all goes back to the weirwoods, if you have even a basic understanding of foreshadowing.
>White Walkers
wight*
He's preparing Bran to become a vessel he can possess. Trust me on this. Bloodraven has no qualms with being a monster "to save the realm".
he’s not a bad guy, he’s a host corpse of an nonhuman entity. just a warm body to use. BR is not himself the 3ER
Bran is king is the only verified ending by GRRM
thats the only thing he told the writers
i just want a release date so i can reread the series
i dont even like the books that much i just want to see what happens with jaime and jon
its been so long since I gave af uck about GoT at this point I dunno how Ill even manage to read the book. What, get refamiliarized by all the vague shit I barely remember to read a single book thatll end on 5000 cliffhangers for the last book that will absolutely NEVER get released
I will not apologize.
ooftonium isotope going critical
bullshit they offered the fat frick a free pie to lure him out
farts of winta
Will tax codes be a central theme?
About time. He admitted in an interview last week that he hasn't touched the manuscript in a year.
This is not necessarily true. He has the same number of pages written as last year. It's possible that he could have thrown out or rewritten some chapters.
Spending all that time in Essos was justified because the readers had convinced themselves that the mad dragon queen and her barbarian slave army are the good guys.
Jesus christ, this fat frick took 20 years to write a fricking book.
GRRM talked shit about Robert Jordan for not finishing his books when the guy had good work ethic and a solid release schedule, got blown the frick out by some months-to-live exotic blood disorder out of nowhere, and still left plentiful notes for someone else to finish it.
So it's funny to watch him squander his biggest work and destroy whatever legacy he could have had out of laziness or inability.
>GRRM talked shit about Robert Jordan for not finishing his books
When did that happen?
It was a long time ago, I think around twelve to fifteen years? He said he 'wouldn't pull a Robert Jordan' in a snotty way.
100 posts for a fake tweet
So? people want to talk about GOT even if it's fake
https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/2023/12/06/a-visit-to-old-blighty/
>i require a small advance of 30,000 pies if i'm to continue writing
That's a fairly small amount of pies for an average-sized person, I'd say?
I feel like I am the only person looking forward to time traveling Bran.
I thought it was just Wild Cards and Winds and he only says discuss, not release.
To discuss the release…
>that’s not happening
I stopped caring a long time ago... so long ago I couldn't even bother watching the last 2 seasons.
dude Breanne getting Knighted was the most kino part of the show
>To discuss the release
Somewhere, in a boardroom:
>Hey Georgie boy, got the final draft yet?
>No, give me more money please.
You'll never get A Dream of Spring.
There's still A Dream of Spring after WoW. This doesn't change the fact that he'll be dead before he finishes the story.
>no longer getting attention
>starts dangling the carrot again
Fat frick
well at least we'll always have Rothfat to make fun of
I have a lot of respect for Sanderson's work ethic, but most of his books are straight up hot liquid shit cleverly disguised as coherent narratives. He could write 50 full length novels in a year if he wanted to, but what does it really matter if 49 of them are sloppy dogshit?
Rothfuss is a cuck homosexual who should be dragged through a pool of broken glass and dipped in a pool of salt.
rothfuss baiting his fans with releasing the first chapter of his 3rd book as part of a charity thing and then just never doing it is still so fricking funny to me.
Why didn’t he just finish his scheduled books? He could’ve written like another Stormlight book in the time it took surely?
probably not, the books he wrote were his standard length maybe a bit shorter, all of them combined would probably be less pages than a full Stormlight book
I'm so glad I can read actual trash from a writer who just thoughtlessly pushes out books on the level of ai programs.
i'm still amazed with King's work ethic that even a quarter of the shit is good, because that man has insane writing efficiency
G.R.R.M. still has to release the 7th and final novel after Winds of Winter. So I still get to torture and laugh at all the despairing nerds who've turned into trolls and who cannot stand the wait for the series to end.
There's still one more novel after Winds of Winter and G.R.R.M. will finish it when generation Beta are adults. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
>G.R.R.M. will finish i
GRRM is like 75 and very, very obese
we're lucky if we get winds
Oh GURM will give you tons of wind, that's for sure!
HEYOOOOOOOOO!
>have all the money in the world
>refuse to lose weight
Why are rich people comfortable being obese?
>to discuss the release
most likely, he's giving up
I'll just come to Cinemaphile where /got/ will be revived to give me the plot points before dropping all interest in this series again.
Then the next time /got/ will be revived is to laugh at him dying before finishing the last book
two weeks
Winter is coming anons
the discussion
>well it's not ready but I'm working on it
literally gabe newell of writing, those fat fricks just can't get shit done
Preston won.
Alt Shift X was right about Preston when he said he's great at having a comprehensive understanding of all the data in the books and absolutely terrible at drawing any conclusion that actually fit the story thematically. Classic autist move where you predict the most likely/practical/possible outcomes instead of the most poetic. The best example of this are the morons who think Ashara is Jons mother when it's the first and most obvious red herring strongly suggested to you right at the start of book 1, it would serve no thematic purpose vs Jon being the heir to the throne and child of ice and fire the war that brought the story to it's start was fought over, but these nogs are like "Ned or Brandon knocking up Ashara makes the most sense in the timeline so it must be that". It's also just not how a mystery is written ever unless the writer is a literal moron
>hurr durr he is a moron
He wasn't back then at least. Half of ASOIAF is driven forward by mistakes and misunderstandings, it's a messy clusterfrick of conflicting emotions and motivations like real life, not a grand master plan being controlled by a cripple tree wizard time traveler
wow. cool.
Black person what kind of response is that
Preston has a lot of misses like Quentyn is alive, Dornish Master Plan, B+A=J, and R+L=D, and certainly a number of others. He does hit the ball sometimes though. Time Traveling Bran, the Cersei videos, and the Brienne videos, are genuinely persuasive. His analysis of the catspaw and the purple wedding is logical, but misguided because GRRM just fricked up those plotlines. Lemongate I think has a good amount of truth to it, but there are some wrong turns in it as well. The Sealord theory to handwave the discrepancies are BS. People don't like TTB and Lemongate because they want a more straightforward J+D story even if it makes sense for the story.
On an unrelated note, Cantuse's analysis of the northern plotline I believe are genuinely very good as well.
>Lemongate think has a good amount of truth to it
he utterly misunderstood this and if you agree with him at all you did too.
So what do you think it means?
Those are the moron analytical autists. I feel bad for those people. They're autistic npcs, robotic. It's always the gays who jack off over their MBTI and shit all over the feel ones. Not only do they misrepresent what that actually means. It's always the analytical nerd guys who jack off over their "superior intellect". They always shit on everyone else. They completely miss the mark and will never understand. They're literally moronic.
If anyone wants to see the ultimate Preston humiliation video, here it is.
>I met grrm
>asked him a few questions that he didn't really want to answer
What's humiliating about this?
To me, it seemed as if GRRM was annoyed by him and told him he was overreading several times.
>*asking a bunch of questions about Robert Frosts influence*
>I read dream song and you had another thing about the path less taken?
>GRRM: I don't know. It's dressing, I was thinking about putting it on the salad
>George began having a conversation about salad dressing with someone else at the table
Fricking kek he sounds so assblasted too
it will never be finished and in the event that it is none of you will like the ending
I'd like it just fine. I had no problem with time traveling Bran being on the throne. The problem was how it got to the ending, dany's rushed dumb ending, and the ending of most of the other characters
>Twitter fan account
Definitely believe them.
>I also found time to meet with my British publisher, and my other British publisher, to talk WILD CARDS and A SONG OF ICE & FIRE and (of course) THE WINDS OF WINTER.
so nothing. figures.
"It's not gonna release, lads."
>We know, George, we know.
To discuss how it will never be released?
I hope that he is dead along with the series for good by the time GTA 6 comes out
Didn't this guy say he made zero progress this year and he still has hundreds of pages to write? Why does anyone still like this guy anyway? He destroyed one of the most highly acclaimed TV shows ever to the point where no one talks about it anymore because it had the worst finale of all time. All because GRRM refused to finish what he started.
This is major cope from that fat frick. He’s just stalling for fans who are left. He’s hoping he’ll get a better publishing deal because he knows it’s almost over for him. I doubt he’s got more than thirty percent of the two books written at this point.
And of course I visited the GAME OF THRONES shoots in Belfast, Scotland, Morocco, and Malta. Those were incredible too. But nothing I have ever seen can compare with the Red Keep and Dragonstone sets they have built at Leavesden Studios in London. HUGE, stunning, and so damned real that I felt as if I had gone through a time portal to medieval Westeros. I love castles and have visited dozens of actual medieval castles, keeps, and towers in my time, and none of the real castles I’ve ever seen can hold a candle… or a torch… to our Red Keep.
Sequel to the Farts of Fall
the discussion was probably the publishers telling Martin they were going to lay siege to his house and not let any food in until he finishes the fricking book
Anyone who says 3ER in reference to the books is outed as not having read them.
Bran is quite clearly stronger at the whole weirwood thing than Bloodraven. BR will not be taking Bran's body.
>you died in that cave.
Bran's toast.
He literally explained what that meant
>I remember being Bran Stark, but I remember so much more now
George confirmed this was an accurate portrayal of what tree wizard bran will be like in the books. Bloodraven chose bran because he's a greenseer, if he just wanted to possess someone with political power why the hell would he choose him and bring him all the way out to his cave. That theory just makes no sense, Bran is being groomed to replace Bloodraven or he's a more powerful greenseer than him being manipulated to help carry out his plans, he isn't going to become a literal possessed Bloodraven puppet that's just stupid
>a desiccated host will not be taking another host’s body
no shit, moron. The 3ER will discard BR, who is used up, in favor of Bran.
Only feminists and jaimegays are mad about the conclusion itself, it was just badly written
I wouldn’t apologize even if by some miracle he completed both Winds and Dream. I would call him a stupid fat butthole and tell him to finish B&F and D&E already.
but winds is 100% never coming out, nor any others.
