it got better in its last years but the show's most famous and memorable episodes are mostly in the earliest seasons, I think the Bibble episode is one exception though
I’m only recently finishing the series and hard agree. The show dips right after the movie but Seasons 9-11 is some of its funniest episodes,
>complaining about better animation
Cheap effects and animation were good in the original aqua teen, but what made it great was the comedy, not just looking like shit. If Carl had more key poses, he wouldn’t have been less funny in the original show
Carl’s least affected by it but even still stuff like Party all the Time wouldn’t have been so funny without his moronic walking animation

part of the humor came from the cheapness of the animation. I agree that the increase in animation quality doesn't completely ruin the comedy of the show and it could still be funny despite that, but it does decrease it just slightly

You moron, ATHF's cheap animation was a budgetary limitation, not an artistic choice. There is no instance where good animation makes a joke worse than limited. You're just letting your nostalgia talk.
>Anonymous 10/14/23(Sat)07:19:47 No.1399 >less is more
Wow, it's like limited resources forcing people to think outside the box is what made shows and movies better then what we currently have.
>you shouldn't take advantage of greater resources to make a better product
Yeah, scenes like these would be much funnier if they were just shitty flash puppets floating back and forth a single perspective shot
>muh outsourcing
I don't give a shit, you're the one claiming >less is more, shittier products are funnier
And I provide examples that prove you wrong and now you're trying to runaway with the goalpost. >Titmouse at the time

I don't think that and I didn't say that. Not everyone you disagree with is a the same person anon.
>First video >Animated nicely but I didn't laugh once, and the animation certainly did not make it any funnier >The funniest thing in the whole clip is ironically the crummy rapid camera pans that look cheap and awkward >second video, no dialogue, so joke is purely what's happening on screen >full minute of reused shots, cheesy music, Hanna Barbera style tweening, almost everything is tweened poorly >actually got me to laugh
wow you sure showed me dipshit
>tweening
I don't think you know what that word means. Also everything in that scene is animated 10 times better than any ATHF episode (considering there are actual multiple perspective shots). But you can feel free to feign moron, and then suddenly start caring about art while crying in the next Calarts thread or whatever.

clearly you don't if you don't see the obvious many uses of it in that clip you showed me, but continue being a blind moron. >Also everything in that scene is animated 10 times better than any ATHF episode (considering there are actual multiple perspective shots)
And ATHF is still funny in spite of that. Also, that Venture Bros clip was worse animated than the Boondocks clip and it was still funny, what's your point? >But you can feel free to feign moron, and then suddenly start caring about art while crying in the next Calarts thread or whatever.
Calarts is a forced meme, you're literally just projecting at this point.

Majority of the focal points in that scene are frame by frame. Only a couple of half a second bavkground elements like the Henchmen flying are actually non-animated. Nothing in there is comparable to the same static image of Shake bobbing back and forth. >that Venture Bros clip was worse animated than the Boondocks clip
It still had a baseline level of competency, which ATHF animation lacks. If you can't tell that, then you're probably blind in addition to being moronic.

Question, why are you in a thread for a show you clearly hate and have no understanding of?
Why are you getting so defensive that someone finds old Aqua Teen's animation funny? Are you one of the animators on this new season?
Aqua Teen's animation is objectively shitty. I like the show, but that's just the case. It's not even shitty in a charming way like South Park or Xavier, it's just flat out shitty, and there's no reason to pretend it isn't, since Matt and Dave think so too, considering even in the original show they made active efforts to improve the animation whenever they could. But I'm sure you have a better understanding of the show than the creators themselves. >Why are you getting so defensive that someone finds old Aqua Teen's animation funny
Same reason he's getting "defensive" at the creators wanting to not make shitty animation anymore, I disagree. wow

Even those shots get reused a lot and are just flipped. You must be blind. It's still limited animation.

you're lacking basic reading comprehension in addition to being being moronic. >"I agree that the increase in animation quality doesn't completely ruin the comedy of the show and it could still be funny despite that"
and you immediately lost your shit at the mere prospect of someone finding humor in the crumminess of the show's low budget animation. what a fun person to be around I bet. I imagine at the end of Meat Zone, the moment when Carl launches himself at Shake in his default standing pose, instead of just laughing at the absurdity of it you start fuming because it wasn't animated well enough. Imagine being this soulless

I was responding to the line >part of the humor came from the cheapness
Which is again moronic, because seeing Carl get thrown onto his roof while in a completely static pose isn't as funny as this
?t=49
Of course, I can already tell that you'll instinctively cry that the objectively shittier joke (as in where the one where the limited visuals actively work against the joke) is the better one. And if you still want to pretend that the Venture Bros clip is anything close to the average ATHF animation, feel free to be moronic in that aspect as well, I guess.

mate, the shots of Brock with actual animation are animated nicely, they are cool, but they aren't as funny, just cool looking (Same with the Boondocks clip). They are definitely cool looking. But the shots of the henchmen are objectively the crux of the humor because of the goofiness of the situation combined with the stiffess. I want to ask you a question, and answer it genuinely: Do you honestly believe the shots of Brock are actually funny, or let alone funnier than the Henchman shots? If you cut out the henchman shots, would there still be a joke, if it was just the shots of Brock? I'd argue that if you cut out the shots of Brock (sans the beginning because it actually provides context), the clip would be just as funny.
I'm not even sure why you used that one clip in particular, out of all the clips you could have used to illustrate your point, you used the one that had tweening in half of the video as an argument against the show that mainly uses it. sheer incompetence. >pic related
i'm ignoring because it undermines nothing i said and family guy isnt funny. frick off, you're proving nothing.
?t=49 >a commercial, used to sell a product, from the show's decline
the animation in that video did not make the joke funnier and i didn't laugh. cope.

It was an episode about ads, something that has existed for longer than any current civilization has
I actually thought they'd scrapped plans to continue, given how long I hadn't heard anything since the initial announcement.
meatwad is so cute
We're so fricking BACK.
>phantasm quality animation
do these morons not know what made the original show great?
fr I was watching the new movie and it was so weird seeing this show having like disney animation
I'll take it. It just has less soul, I just hope the writing is good.
this show's writing peaked in it's first few seasons
It recovered around the end. The weakest seasons are in the middle.

Reasonable take, well said. I really hope you're wrong
OG show also tackled modern topics. There’s a fricking flip phone episode on the original.

In fairness it mostly looks like the better animation is in the dream sequence where it makes sense
Not bad
The extra animation is very weird, but it's not unwelcome.
Where’s the main man? Trailer is shit
Looks like shit. Should've stayed dead.
