The bottom fell out for box office and it is so weird. Cinema was huge and then suddenly it wasn’t. Media is like “oh yeah some film came out or something? Lost money? Anyways”. Like these unprecedented series of losses isn’t even novel anymore. They were treated as one off events but they have gotten more frequent since 2016.
Movies are literally not going to recover from this. It’s over.

I'm pretty forgiving to DC since handling their heroes aesthetic is 100 times much harder than Marvel everytime. Marvel by default should be killing it in the human stories department but they manage to shoot themselves in the foot many times.

It's not an event going to the cinema. The acting isnt that great, the scenarios we see in movies arent that awe inspiring or even good looking anymore. Even the visual effects now look kinda lame since it's all half assed CGI. Sound effects which could be the last leg of cinema going is a moot point as well since movie makers don't spend much on interesting sound effects, and even if they did, the teenagers and black people yelling, talking, and crunching popcorn and crab legs inside the theater would be detrimental to the hearing experience anyways.
I mean, BE HONEST WITH ME, what's the fricking point of going to the cinema nowadays? Certainly not for the movies, and not even to have make out with your gf either since all women now are prostitutes and "netflix and chill" is enough to make them lick your butthole.

The movie industry, like every business, goes in cycles. This just feels like the end of massive, big budget interconnected capeshit. The most recent example I can think of is the death of the traditional action movie in 1999. That was the first year in ages that a pure action movie didn't break the top 20. Double Jeopardy, of all things, was the highest grossing movie that year that could be considered action. That year also saw End Of Days and it's lackluster performance and was the last original Schwarzenegger movie to turn a profit - just barely. That was the end of the Stallone/Schwarzenegger style action era that transitioned into the ultra elaborate Bond/fast and furious/mission impossible impossible and Jackie Chan style action movies. Hopefully capeshit evolves into something better.
