The bottom fell out for box office and it is so weird. Cinema was huge and then suddenly it wasn’t. Media is like “oh yeah some film came out or something? Lost money? Anyways”. Like these unprecedented series of losses isn’t even novel anymore. They were treated as one off events but they have gotten more frequent since 2016.
Movies are literally not going to recover from this. It’s over.
Only 2 blockbusters were big hits this year: Super Mario and Barbie. Oppenheimer was a massive success, will hit 1 bil and was the greatest cost-benefit release as it cost only 100 mil, thereby saving Hollywood along w smaller but highly lucrative movies (M3gan, Talk to Me, Sound of Freedom, FNAF etc)
Seriously, they should not have destroyed their own movie ( character arcs, worldbuilding) to appease fans of Depp that would not have gone to see it anyway.
The first movie balanced several elements and characters for the most part successfully.
They never should have cast her to begin with
People here knew she was batshit well before the masses did warner bros must have known even before that
Just recast instead of cutting the character down though, maybe it was too late to do that
>Snyder's latest movie just bombed and he's currently the laughing stock of Hollywood.
Wait until he releases the 3.5 hour director's cut version of both parts of his dilogy, which will set things right.
>If they had polled 100 random comic book fans
Nah. Normies might think Aquaman is lame because of random jokes on tv but Aquaman is a solid B level hero to people who read comics
I'm pretty forgiving to DC since handling their heroes aesthetic is 100 times much harder than Marvel everytime. Marvel by default should be killing it in the human stories department but they manage to shoot themselves in the foot many times.
It has nothing to do with Snyder. It has to do with the response to his movies and doing a massive 180 to be an asylum MCU knockoff.
People go to DC movies to see shit like Dark Knight, Joker, the first Wonder Woman, and The Batman. They don't want Guardians of the Galaxy ft Amanda Waller or whatever the frick WW84 was supposed to be.
DC can do just fine without Snyder. They just need to remember what makes them popular. Which after nearly a decade of box office bombs you would think they'd have learned by now.
I know but if I had said Man of Steel or Watchmen it would have led to nonstop whining about Snyder shit and accusations of being a cultist. And The Batman was one of the recent DC successes.
You already said the Joker. Lets be honest, The Batman was a disappointment that WB decided to plot ahead because everything else was a major bomb.
For a moody Batman film aping the shit out of Nolan's movies that should have done a lot better, specially with everything it had going for it. The marketing, the ticket prices, the favorable reviews.
Even then i would take The Batman 2 over anything Gunn is producing.
>this and captain marvel made a billion a couple years ago
You can't tell me there isn't some foul play here. Both are literal whos nobody cared about.
Movies are not interesting anymore, simple as.
It's not an event going to the cinema. The acting isnt that great, the scenarios we see in movies arent that awe inspiring or even good looking anymore. Even the visual effects now look kinda lame since it's all half assed CGI. Sound effects which could be the last leg of cinema going is a moot point as well since movie makers don't spend much on interesting sound effects, and even if they did, the teenagers and black people yelling, talking, and crunching popcorn and crab legs inside the theater would be detrimental to the hearing experience anyways.
I mean, BE HONEST WITH ME, what's the fricking point of going to the cinema nowadays? Certainly not for the movies, and not even to have make out with your gf either since all women now are prostitutes and "netflix and chill" is enough to make them lick your butthole.
Grow the frick up. Capeshit being a dead genre has nothing to do with her. If Nicholas Cage Superman and Michael Keaton Batman aren't enough to make a movie successful, then she's an irrelevant factor too.

They fricked up Transformers by hiring a black director who cast one of the ugliest black woman on earth along with the ever-unlikeable Anthoy Ramos to "emphasize black and latino culture." They fricked up Indiana Jones by making it Fleabag's story with Indy along for the ride. They fricked up Blue Beetle by making it about Mexican families living in America. Plus Little Mermaid and other bullshit.
>If things that were kind of popular 30 years ago can't make a movie successful, then nothing can.
Were DCucks always this dumb or is this a recent thing?
Nostalgia for actual popular things sells more. Not some 80 year old from a couple of niche movie from the 80s and an obscure bit of trivia no one but the most pathetic of nerds would know about a movie that never got made.
>aquaman, justice leagues D tier addition >DC cinematic universe is already dead and a failure >Amber heard is a lying manipulative bed shitter
What a mystery
theres nothing aquaman about it, its just jason momoa playing jason momoa in the water
the only thing remotely interesting about it is based black manta and you'll know they'll neuter him so who gives a frick
>Movies are literally not going to recover from this.
No, it will evolve and change. The days of $800 million blockbuster movies that have to appeal to every possible demographic and play in every language will likely be over. And that is so fricking cash.
I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more small, weird movies on streaming platforms. New niches will define themselves. The language of cinema will change dramatically.
Gag order enforced by Amber.
Every time I try to post about the movie she shits in my Oh WHAT THE FRICK GET OUT
I just fricking cleaned those
YOU ARE RUINING MY LIFE b***h
I'm going to see it, I'm getting pretty concerned it might be shit but I really like Aquaman.
After this I'm probably done with American capeshit though
The movie industry, like every business, goes in cycles. This just feels like the end of massive, big budget interconnected capeshit. The most recent example I can think of is the death of the traditional action movie in 1999. That was the first year in ages that a pure action movie didn't break the top 20. Double Jeopardy, of all things, was the highest grossing movie that year that could be considered action. That year also saw End Of Days and it's lackluster performance and was the last original Schwarzenegger movie to turn a profit - just barely. That was the end of the Stallone/Schwarzenegger style action era that transitioned into the ultra elaborate Bond/fast and furious/mission impossible impossible and Jackie Chan style action movies. Hopefully capeshit evolves into something better.

A Barbie movie made a billion dollars.
Two movies a year making s billion while everything else bombs.
Only 2 blockbusters were big hits this year: Super Mario and Barbie. Gee, I wonder what happened in 2016 that made movies start bombing
Even the normies are starting to get jaded by the capeshit. Most of us have been sick of it since 2012.
bruh its fricking aquaman capeshit in 2024 nobody cares
The last words my great grandmother said on her deathbed were "aquaman is fricken moronic dude"
It's 2023.
everyone hates that bedshitter
She's barely even in the movie.
The DCU is already dead and canned
no point in seeing it
the first one made more than captain marvel and destroyed into the spider-verse, capeshit just doesn't do anything interesting anymore
No Mera No Party
Seriously, they should not have destroyed their own movie ( character arcs, worldbuilding) to appease fans of Depp that would not have gone to see it anyway.
The first movie balanced several elements and characters for the most part successfully.
She's too skinny or just too flat. I will pay to see movies on the big screen if they hire women with olympian and pornstar bodies.
>women with olympian and pornstar bodies
mmh, provide examples
I thought she is in it though
She is, they just trimmed her role down considerably
They never should have cast her to begin with
People here knew she was batshit well before the masses did warner bros must have known even before that
Just recast instead of cutting the character down though, maybe it was too late to do that
It's made for China.
The boycott is working. We need to show WB we will not be watch any movies without Snyder.
Snyder's latest movie just bombed and he's currently the laughing stock of Hollywood.
>Snyder's latest movie just bombed and he's currently the laughing stock of Hollywood.
Wait until he releases the 3.5 hour director's cut version of both parts of his dilogy, which will set things right.
Who wants to spend money on a fricking movie? Also people have no friends left after this year of shit.
No one cares about capeshit anymore.
Wan got GIGAKEKED by Cameron. He throws shade at JC. Now the tables have turned.
The first movie was dogshit, who cares about the sequel?
is the crazy bedshitter on it?
im not watching it if she ain't on it.
I'll probably go see it, but only after christmas, maybe january
The original was better.
American cgi blockbusters, particularly capeshit, have become uncool.
>it's not looking good
Famous last and first words
>If they had polled 100 random comic book fans
Nah. Normies might think Aquaman is lame because of random jokes on tv but Aquaman is a solid B level hero to people who read comics
aquaman 2 showed up to a house party that everyone has left 2 years ago
>Former villain joins your party
>Immediately turns into a lame joke
> literally no one is talking about it
Perhaps step outside this incel petting zoo?
I’m going to see it. I thought the first one was a lot of fun.
homosexual
Same
Wan nailed the saturation needed. I'm on the camp that Superhero films must be brightly colored on general since they came out of comic book pages.
>What went wrong?
DCEU is utter garbage aside from MOS, BVS, and the first Aquaman. First 2 I listed are kino, last one is just OK.
fortnite aesthetics make for bad movies?
I forgot Batgirl happened.
>so bad they didn't release it even after it was done
suicide squad its decent and aquaman its good, all others suck balls
I'm pretty forgiving to DC since handling their heroes aesthetic is 100 times much harder than Marvel everytime. Marvel by default should be killing it in the human stories department but they manage to shoot themselves in the foot many times.

Doesn't seems so.
You really can't read past the first sentence, can you?
>and The Batman
That movie did less than BvS despite being almost three hours and its tickets costing double.
I know but if I had said Man of Steel or Watchmen it would have led to nonstop whining about Snyder shit and accusations of being a cultist. And The Batman was one of the recent DC successes.

Shazam and TSS are the only watchable movies in this list.
Most of the flopping I understand why but I am baffled how the first Shazam did as poorly as it did.
Because it is the moment people realized Snyder wasn't involved anymore.
people were sick of winter by April. really Shazam and Aquaman should have switched
semi-obscure character + no famous actors
>this and captain marvel made a billion a couple years ago
You can't tell me there isn't some foul play here. Both are literal whos nobody cared about.

Cinema is dead, just let it rest already.
bruh it spiderman watermode its going to be a gay ol' tyme
>have an unexpected billion dollar blockbuster
>hehh... better wait FOUR years for sequel
warner is moronic but you already knew that
How the frick did it take 6 years for a sequel? Like 10% of people who saw it have died since, or they have 2 kids and a mortgage since then lmao.
They didn't remove Amber pooopiepants.
So we won't be watching

>aquaman, justice leagues D tier addition
>DC cinematic universe is already dead and a failure
>Amber heard is a lying manipulative bed shitter
What a mystery
First one came out half a decade ago and it's DC
>and it's DC
This is the important thing. And the main reason DCucks are going to be shocked when Gunn's shit also bombs.
Superhero fatigue. Make a Kingdom Hearts movie and it'll make MCU numbers during it's prime.
theres nothing aquaman about it, its just jason momoa playing jason momoa in the water
the only thing remotely interesting about it is based black manta and you'll know they'll neuter him so who gives a frick
James Gunn's wife, that fat nerd, and John Cena appear in the movie in the post-credits to recruit Aquaman. For what reason? I don't know.
>For what reason?
Same reason theybwere in Shazam 2. To get his wife and friend a paycheck
>Movies are literally not going to recover from this.

YOU ARE RUINING MY LIFE b***h
Four years too late. Should have struck whilst the iron was hot.
Amber Turd is what went wrong. I've seen so many people that boycott this movie just because she is involved.
I'm going to see it, I'm getting pretty concerned it might be shit but I really like Aquaman.
After this I'm probably done with American capeshit though
I'm watching this only for Black Manta. He's such a fricking autist, I love him.
>literally no one is talking about it
You are here to talk about it though, mr. marketer
Somebody shit the bed.

>the post credits scene is Orm putting a wienerroach on a burger then eating it
so this is how the DCEU dies
