Why self-identify with racist #chan memespeak?
That lack of self-worth and self-respect is emblematic of a much larger personal issue. Like why you'd ever, EVER want to watch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

I think they ruined the tone of the first movie and Gunn had a lot to do with that

Gunn had nothing to do with it and Wan made a great job continuing on this franchise.

Anyway, it made more than the double of its initial budget, so this means the movie is a financial success.

        >Anyway, it made more than the double of its initial budget, so this means the movie is a financial success.

No, it means they broke even

That said, it did way better than the last three movies and had an uphill climb. WB thought it was gonna completely flop

Making than double means financial success.

It's just doubling down on the juvenile shit from the first movie.

Nothing good, nothing bad. It just is.

      >I think they ruined the tone of the first movie

      What tone?

      >and Gunn had a lot to do with that

Gunn had 0 to do with this movie. Let me guess, you're still with the narrative that he had anything to do with The Flash being a bomb?

I thought it was alright even if it was very bland. Orm is still the best character and the tone and jokes were not atrocious, it being overall a decent movie to watch on a sunday evening. I did think that for a movie with such a huge focus on family it lacked Mera too much but eh.

Patrick Wilson eating a roach is the best part of the movie.

      >Patrick Wilson eating a roach is the best part of the movie.

A joke so nice they did it twice.

      Did this end up flopping?

No, but since this was the tail-end of the DCEU, there's no point to keeping it alive after it cost Warner a shitton of money.

        >Gunn had 0 to do with this movie
he interfered with Shazam 2 and The Flash, but somehow not this one, also produced by Safran? C'mon now
That cringe intro montage to dadrock screams James Gunn

For a "who even cares anymore" movie it was a lot better than expected/feared but still mediocre at best.
Worst part was how they drive the movie from setpiece to setpiece without letting the viewer take them in for a moment.
Like, there's a fricking underwater Kowloon City or whatever in your movie, something that could've easily been the setting for the entire film, and you spend only like five minutes in the whole thing before you're off to the next setting?!

Amber Turd was too much of a liability to be more than she already was in the movie

Yeah I get why they didn’t have her more but the movie would have benefited from having more Mera from a narrative standpoint regardless

That probably costs a lot for VFX, they had to delay the movie to complete all the VFX and it still looked like shit. The PS2 level hair under sea looks so gross

What does it matter DCEU ends with this movie. Its all gonna be a new Aquaman in the DCU

Mamoa will probably play Lobo and someone else will be Aquaman or they might skip Aquaman altohether

Aquaman 2 allegedly had a budget of $205–215 million and its current worldwide box office is $413.4 million. Considering how studios get maybe half that, they probably broke even at best. Considering how little marketing there was (WB was convinced it would be a flop beforehand moreso than the prior three films) it's possible that it wasn't as large as the usual marketing budgets.

            >Considering how little marketing there was (WB was convinced it would be a flop beforehand moreso than the prior three films)
Also, the actor strike means the actors would not promote the movie until th strike was over.

          >I thought rule of thumb was triple
It has always been "double". Maybe some have introduced "triple" recently so that they can rant about even more movies flopping? But has always been double.

It was a genuinely fun adventure movie. Though I wish Mera had more screentime. Say what you will about Amber, but she was a big part of the last movie so seeing her diminished is a bit jarring. I hope we get an extended cut if nothing else.
