But for all purposes in their world Archer thinks of him as such and he'd be raised accordingly. Which would go with AJ getting some of her own kinks about her "big brother" and her internal struggle over such a thing. Until we have the reveal and then AJ just wants to jump him but then Seamus is having a crisis over who is father his and ans AJ is still all pent up over wanting to get slammed across the bed by her "Big Bro".
I really doubt that hooker is going to raise Seamus to think he's Archer's kid. and when he grows up into a nebbish accountant, that's going to be an even tougher sell. I forget, what was he doing in the photo last season, that archer saw when he went to her place to give her more ill-gotten money?
anyway yes incest is hot even if they aren't related.
VB was basically an extended version of their episodes and condensed many plot points of their proposed final season.
um yes anon, i'm aware of that. what's your point?
oh yeah that was it. definitely Cyril's kid >knowing Mallory
you think Mallory has continued to be involved in Seamus's life?
The characters weren't as funny these last few seasons, like Pam. Cheryl was straight up annoying and felt like she didn't even need to be there most of the time.
Cheryl definitely hit the wall of "Where the frick do we go with this character from here?" but at least she was consistent, and the other characters did comment on her with concern like is she getting worse?
Oh they finally showed Aj again? Was she aged up or just a kid? I remember when everyone was simping for her lol
uh we've seen her regularly.
It was satifying which was hard to do for a show with some many twists/turns and high/lows. You know?
You could feel the "wrap it up" energy in shit like Krieger's lab being introduced and dismissed with reason or narrative purpose. Like presumably that was a hook to the next season before it was scuttled.
that and they probably planned all those Barry bodies to be spread out across a season

well we don't have a name for this yet. You know, people who have successfully convinced everyone up is down, left is right, so they can make debate more confusing and less productive.
I'm just happy to get closure on Katya. Sort of. There's a lot they had to kinda skip over, but in the end it's a big beautiful mess, as it should be.
AJ was adorable. Glad we got to see her one more time too. and they didnt do any 2023 bullshit. This feels good. between this and venture bros, it feels like maybe I'll still be able to enjoy some things in the future.
That said, I.. don't see myself doing a rewatch anytime soon. when season 14 dropped out of nowhere, I was like "oh, okay. guess I'll finish this rewatch I've been slugging on in anticipation for the final season" and it was not exactly gripping me. I don't hate the dream seasons as much as other people, particularly danger island, but the triumphant comeback was just.. a bummer. Beyond the initial "Archer's not the best anymore, others have had to pick up the slack" shit, it kinda fizzled.
If only jessica walter could have staved off death for another couple years, i think that threw them for a loop.
I think similar to the prevailing attitude that the Simpsons ends with Behind The Laughter and everything after might as well be another show, for me Archer ends with Robert De Niro
Not a perfect run, but the last where everything that made it the show that it was was present
eh, i reserve that sort of hard cutoff point for when actors recast for being white, or canceled. Otherwise the cutoff point has to be quite soft and flexible. Simpsons and Family Guy and Bob's Burgers only became unwatchable a few years ago, and only just.
[...]
I feel like you guys don't understand the meaning of the word private.
Sorry we didn't read your manifesto, anon. Keep putting those stickers up on every lightpost, it's sure to work sooner or later.
Think it would have been more poetic if Archer had actually died, bookmarking the series.
The plastic surgery episode foreshadows it.
I also feel that the British Indian woman who joined them this season was annoying and completely unnecessary.
if they hadn't had him basically die already, I'd super agree. but ending with him being a self-imposed perma-fugitive is kind of better. It reminds me of the ending to House, except more plausible.
and yes everyone hates that b***h. it seems like she was designed specifically to be hated? because the alternative would be feeling like a gross mary sue diversity hire, but the difference is the other characters are hateable in a lovable way, and we've gotten used to them over 14 years. she has not EARNED that, and all the gags about her gambling problem or shitty loyalty will not fix that.
>Simpsons [...] only became unwatchable a few years ago

COMPLETELY unwatchable. Obviously it was still shit, though it actually became a little better from 2010 to 2015 or so (as did family guy). but it was -watchable- shit right up until a couple years ago.

Killed his Post Apoc Female Bounty Hunters/Dukes of Hazard show, for a shit celebrity vehicle that fricking died.
Slater as the final secret badie was pretty dumb but everyone got their little goodbye and I'm glad it's over and I won't have to see them decay into mediocrity anymore.
I feel just SWELL when orange people push the idea that the blue side has orange ideals, and people swallow it and start attacking the blues for being so damned orange. then wondering why orange is taking over
and when they do it the other way around? that really grinds my gears
anyway AJ is cute. Do you guys think the other main characters are going to find satisfying work? I kinda doubt Lana's going to make them part of her Archer-hunting team or anything.
>weird time
FX got tired of funding a show people cared for less and less every year.
It's pretty obvious it wasn't a "true" ending and was one due to cancelation.
But the finale also showed that Archer should have ended a long time ago, even though they did manage to wrap up some points nicely.
Given that she didn't even get an 'end card' I simply assume she was meant to be built into a new season before cancellation call came in and they just left her there because they had already written it.
well yes Lana's character was derailed hard, but.. This is a Princess Bubblegum situation. she's a woman. She can be retamed. >AJ and Seamus spinoff
fricking adorable, I love it.
but uhhh Seamus isn't Archer's son, remember? He's Cyril's.

Lol oh yeah I forgot about that idea from like 2 years ago. I remember me and another anon drew tons of art of it.
But yeah AJ similar to lana probably needs taming she was starting to get c**ty last time I watched the show. It was probably more lana's influence than anyone else.
But for all purposes in their world Archer thinks of him as such and he'd be raised accordingly. Aj inherits her dad's incest fetish, but it's ok since he's not her real brother >when seamus learns he's not archer's son he's a bit devastated. Even if he wasn't around and never acknowledged him as much as Aj he was happy he knew who his dad was >When Aj learned she patted Seamus on the shoulder, but inside she was as giddy as a schoolgirl
that was obvious after they took him from a chad to a even worse beta than before. I was actually rooting for chad buff cyril, but he sadly got fricked.
It really stopped being funny the cyril abuse.
[...]
Yeah I kind of hate this, as slater was my fave new edition especially after the waterboarding scene. Now he's genuinely a schizo who wants to ruin archer for no real reason.
I think they were more 'putting him in his place'
like yes any man can become a 'chad' if he tries, but in these people's world, he shouldn't. he should stay in his lane because only women can be whatever they want.
Heh true also yeah I'll post some of my art really I hate it as it was one of my first threads I drawgayged for.
I miss the good ole days.I always wished we did another aj thread but I didn't want to force it.
My folder of all the request I drew from the thread. >https://catbox.moe/c/djsemh
this was my fave from my batch >https://files.catbox.moe/pqgwi6.jpg
Oh thought his art was lost to time, he was the other drawanon
Oh nice yeah, I actually made a folder back then, hoping when the new season came out we'd do another thread but we never did.
not bad!
I somehow missed all of these threads you guys apparently had.

sometimes I think i'm the only one who liked thin coked-out pam. that shit was hilarious. and the noises she made while eating it cracked me up every time.
It was one of those one of a million threads, from back in the day. Filled with us just making greens with each other and some art. It literally started randomly because the archer threads were dying like ever week someone brought up Aj getting bleached and it was all history from there I think I even have some of the old greens

i want to say it had something to do with tumblr, but also just the general collapse of being able to communicate on the internet. no two people have the same perception of reality anymore, it's like babel but for our memories.

Really? I felt most people on Cinemaphile are a lot less crazy than I thought. I started here not to long ago. Most people here are hit or miss but mostly cool. I do get the whole weird disconnect though but that's more to do with places like tumblr and twitter where everyone just has to be right or view things in the worst light. It's why I don't go into twitter screenshot threads or comics are falling threads. I prefer to chat with people that have some hope or at least shit on something without it turning political or insane.

Well I'm happy about that thanks anon. feels weird this all came from a bunch of art about bleached and semi-incest. But yeah I definitely want to do the Aj thread now we need more bro ship plus I'd love to do some request, but maybe better to do it as it's own thing idk.

nah these days it's best for threads to piggyback, as long as it's what the show is about at all.
I'm a big fan of wincest but I just want to see cute innocent things of AJ. I mean didn't she go to boarding school in switzerland?

Ha I could try that, but really most of that thread and my and others hyperfixation was about brat correcting Aj. I believe it was right after that episode where she was a bit of a know it all and we didn't like her girlbossing
Really if the request is interesting enough and has a good enough ref I'll probably do it. >god going through all these greens either someone else made the screenshot or I wrote a lot of them. Second damn we were horny asf so much wmbf and bleached shit lol
wincest is hot, anon. and even if they're unrelated it's still hot, because it's about people knowing each other intimately.
>venture bros's
People who name drop these are not only derailing but fan boying hard as frick, stop, that show was not high brow like you think it was.
didn't say it was, anon. but it was. possibly one of the most intelligently written shows on tv.

huh? who is brat, why is he or she correcting AJ. i don't get that..
I don't recall her being too big for her britches, more like.. she takes after her dad, and is ungovernable. and I imagine she'd take to nudity like a fish to water.
Aj's the brat also I felt she'd be less lewd more like a young lana before archer ruined her. So a good girl but because she was raised rich and slightly isolated at private school she's a bit of a dick like archer.
It's been a while bro, but I remember her pissing me off in one of the eps. It was that know it all vibe in the trial and her beating up poor cyril he was innocent. Also I kind of just hate the smart kid thing in media now it's so over done and lame.
oh you forgot a hyphen. you were saying "brat-correcting" her. I'm on the train now.
She beat up cyril because he was her training dummy, right? eh. anyway I will never enjoy watching kids getting punished, never liked it when i was a kid even if they hurt me, don't like it now. I want them to get loving discipline and guidance.

Interesting, i did mostly solo Aj art, but someone started the main theme of "her brother" Cyril's son is her crush because Aj has a big bro fetish also into interracial stuff it's a lot really the greens kind of give the general idea.
I'm ok with loving discipline also something about your response reminds me of someone from another thread I drew in. I can't remember?

can you really call white-on-octoroon interracial? if 88% of your ancestors are like "hi bob, how's the family" that's not really special.. yeah we've probably discussed stuff like this before. Maybe Harriet?

She's technically a quadroon I believe, also hey breed the last bit out of em. Actually never watched or drew in the harriet threads maybe siobhan?

hm nope don't know what that is
ehh they kinda retconned Lana by giving her two quite black parents, but in fairness, genetics is pretty randomized and you do get that sometimes. But presumably neither of them was straight up african, so it still counts, the euro genes (and maybe some native american too), roll of the dice, ended up representing themselves profoundly in Lana.
Anonymous
Heh true, but yeah in the end of the day I think they originally were planning on making her a mulatto/quadroon since they literally had a a song for it. Think maybe one of the creators had a Wmbf/bleached fetish they talk so damn much about roons and dirty interracial stuff

that's okay. all taboos are equally ridiculous, the important thing is enjoying them in a harmless manner while recognizing that they are a pisspoor substitute for morality, with a shitpoor tendency to try to do exactly that.
right? Totally acceptable. especially by current finale standards. not that.. shows like this have a lot of peers. venture bros's one is the only solid comparison
>venture bros's
People who name drop these are not only derailing but fan boying hard as frick, stop, that show was not high brow like you think it was.
it's over. I call this sort of thing a "leaves room for fanfiction" ending. there's a clean hard break here where this story is over, but their lives continue and you can imagine what happens next. Frasier ended that way, Gravity Falls, uh what else.. No More Heroes...
Was s8 supposed to be the final season? As I far as know they wanted to go as long as they would let them.
yeah that was a little less of a hard break though. Nothing about their lives is really over or changed. I'd call that more of a Gargoyles ending. Big stuff solved and sorted, but totally leaving room for continuation as soon as the network gives the OK
The characters weren't as funny these last few seasons, like Pam. Cheryl was straight up annoying and felt like she didn't even need to be there most of the time.
>Cheryl was straight up annoying and felt like she didn't even need to be there most of the time.
That's just Cheryl in general. Even when she does drive the plot, it's because of something somebody else is doing FOR her

>The final boss of the show was Slater trying to pull a Liquid Snake >All of it was pointless because Slater helped the UN vote win in the first place by getting Archer on the news and spy agencies are still around but they just go around hunting rogue spies instead
It was very much as if a comedy series that occasionally noncommittally flirted with drama before subverting your expectations seconds later by turning it into a gag, tried to flirt with drama one last time but lacked the experience to pull it off. For some reason. That and just a very contrived excuse to have all the big recurring characters in a scene together one last time. Turning Archer and Slater's general mutual disdain and habit of fricking with each other into genuine hatred was weird though. Slater would have probably won if he didnt insist on killing Archer, giving him no choice but to resist

Like Barry got copied at some point between the end of s2 and vice when Slater first appears and he's just been masquerading as him the entire time while the copy started degrading rapidly
"I mean really Archer, Christian Slater? The actor? You thought Christian Slater the actor worked for the CIA?"
"Okay, first of all, shut up. Second of all, shut up."
Archer is like playing with fireworks, you're young so you're all hyped up for it but then it's over before it really gets going and you realize it's a 22 minute show of loud pops and bangs and then it's over.
The first four seasons where good, the first hand full of season in any show is the good one's.
not bad!

then we got a just okay space coma
then he came back and we got to deal with him being the least valuable one for a while

Oh yes that last episode was so inteligent and well written anon really the only show that comes close to rick and morty levels of intelligence
ah you're one of those. i hope it clears up for you sometime, anon
and for the record, rick and morty has a few profoundly intelligent episodes. Usually the ones where they take a genuinely unique concept and push it to its limit. Any unilateral judgment of that show misses the point since it is basically 6 totally different shows that happen to share the same title.
Not really, but I'd wager it couldn't regardless of writers

Wish Reed had gotten to do his other show
eh, i reserve that sort of hard cutoff point for when actors recast for being white, or canceled. Otherwise the cutoff point has to be quite soft and flexible. Simpsons and Family Guy and Bob's Burgers only became unwatchable a few years ago, and only just.
Sorry we didn't read your manifesto, anon. Keep putting those stickers up on every lightpost, it's sure to work sooner or later.
if they hadn't had him basically die already, I'd super agree. but ending with him being a self-imposed perma-fugitive is kind of better.
>Simpsons [...] only became unwatchable a few years ago
thanks for letting us know to disregard the rest of your post right away, moron
COMPLETELY unwatchable. Obviously it was still shit, though it actually became a little better from 2010 to 2015 or so (as did family guy). but it was -watchable- shit right up until a couple years ago.
Not what you wrote, and still wrong moron
I shouldn't have to add a qualifier before 'unwatchable'
so what was the point for you that made it totally unwatchable? what ruined it so hard you couldn't look past it anymore?
the general quality of the writing and jokes, morono
but those tapered off so gradually. how and where did you choose?
when it wasn't funny anymore, which was well over a decade ago at the very least
so this is a sodom and gomorrah situation, you would have spared the show if it made you laugh once, but not zero times?
That's valid, I can respect that.
well presumably now he'll get to do that other show yeah?
He wasn't being held hostage, the only thing he's done on Archer for the last 3 years is voice Ray
He didn't even write the finale
When FX turned down his pitch it pretty much killed him
aw man
i thought something was kinda missing
he shouldn't feel bad, not getting your pitch greenlit in today times is like not having electricity in the 13th century. like, lightning MIGHT strike, but it's not likely.
Killed his Post Apoc Female Bounty Hunters/Dukes of Hazard show, for a shit celebrity vehicle that fricking died.
Fricking hell man.
Oh they finally showed Aj again? Was she aged up or just a kid? I remember when everyone was simping for her lol
Idk I stopped shortly after they got trapped underwater or something. Even by then I felt drained watching it.
I kinda doubt Lana's going to make them part of her Archer-hunting team or anything.
what a weird time to release a finale. i assumed we'd be waiting a year.
>weird time
FX got tired of funding a show people cared for less and less every year.
It's pretty obvious it wasn't a "true" ending and was one due to cancelation.
But the finale also showed that Archer should have ended a long time ago, even though they did manage to wrap up some points nicely.
Think it would have been more poetic if Archer had actually died, bookmarking the series.
The plastic surgery episode foreshadows it.
I also feel that the British Indian woman who joined them this season was annoying and completely unnecessary.
Given that she didn't even get an 'end card' I simply assume she was meant to be built into a new season before cancellation call came in and they just left her there because they had already written it.
anyone else still holding out hope for archer and lana?
Meh Lana is a disaster for anyone including AJ.
I'd rather the last season been a flash forward to AJ and Seamus taking up the family mantle.
And playing with the whole "Incest" game media likes to play with nowadays.
well yes Lana's character was derailed hard, but.. This is a Princess Bubblegum situation. she's a woman. She can be retamed.
>AJ and Seamus spinoff
fricking adorable, I love it.
but uhhh Seamus isn't Archer's son, remember? He's Cyril's.
Lol oh yeah I forgot about that idea from like 2 years ago. I remember me and another anon drew tons of art of it.
But yeah AJ similar to lana probably needs taming she was starting to get c**ty last time I watched the show. It was probably more lana's influence than anyone else.
Aj inherits her dad's incest fetish, but it's ok since he's not her real brother
>when seamus learns he's not archer's son he's a bit devastated. Even if he wasn't around and never acknowledged him as much as Aj he was happy he knew who his dad was
>When Aj learned she patted Seamus on the shoulder, but inside she was as giddy as a schoolgirl
post summa that art!
My folder of all the request I drew from the thread.
this was my fave from my batch
>https://files.catbox.moe/pqgwi6.jpg
Oh thought his art was lost to time, he was the other drawanon
I found it on tbharchive along with this one.
Oh nice yeah, I actually made a folder back then, hoping when the new season came out we'd do another thread but we never did.
It was one of those one of a million threads, from back in the day. Filled with us just making greens with each other and some art. It literally started randomly because the archer threads were dying like ever week someone brought up Aj getting bleached and it was all history from there I think I even have some of the old greens
well it seems like most of this stuff isn't really up my alley but I'm still glad it's around. Cinemaphile seems to be bouncing back from the major hit it took a couple years back.
Wait what was that? Also really I understand it got really incest heavy then the whole actually they aren't related thing lol. It was fun but not everyone's vibe part of me kind of wants to try and do the thread again but again Idk if everyone would be down for it again.
i want to say it had something to do with tumblr, but also just the general collapse of being able to communicate on the internet. no two people have the same perception of reality anymore, it's like babel but for our memories.
>I started here not to long ago.
well it was better before, you missed out on that I think. but it's getting better now, so... I blame you! You came in and fixed it.
>And playing with the whole "Incest" game media likes to play with nowadays.
Into the trash you go.
wincest is hot, anon. and even if they're unrelated it's still hot, because it's about people knowing each other intimately.
didn't say it was, anon. but it was. possibly one of the most intelligently written shows on tv.
huh? who is brat, why is he or she correcting AJ. i don't get that..
Also I kind of just hate the smart kid thing in media now it's so over done and lame.
so AJ should correct herself? I don't-
oh you forgot a hyphen. you were saying "brat-correcting" her.
Heh true, but yeah in the end of the day I think they originally were planning on making her a mulatto/quadroon since they literally had a a song for it. Think maybe one of the creators had a Wmbf/bleached fetish they talk so damn much about roons and dirty interracial stuff
southern people do in general. and that's not a stereotype, they have charted what each state searches for most in porn. the south is obsessed with interracial.
Oh no I'm a statistic
that's okay. all taboos are equally ridiculous, the important thing is enjoying them in a harmless manner while recognizing that they are a pisspoor substitute for morality, with a shitpoor tendency to try to do exactly that.
Oh yes that last episode was so inteligent and well written anon really the only show that comes close to rick and morty levels of intelligence
Or is that why you put incest in quotes
I haven't seen the finale yet, but I saved it so I'll watch it soon.
awesome.
there's tons of spoilers in this thread, so don't scroll up
Wasn't terribad
right? Totally acceptable. especially by current finale standards. not that.. shows like this have a lot of peers. venture bros's one is the only solid comparison
VB was basically an extended version of their episodes and condensed many plot points of their proposed final season.
Was s8 supposed to be the final season? As I far as know they wanted to go as long as they would let them.
>venture bros's
People who name drop these are not only derailing but fan boying hard as frick, stop, that show was not high brow like you think it was.
Is it over over? Because this ending felt like a set up for a movie.
it's over. I call this sort of thing a "leaves room for fanfiction" ending. there's a clean hard break here where this story is over, but their lives continue and you can imagine what happens next. Frasier ended that way, Gravity Falls, uh what else.. No More Heroes...
the cancellation obviously hit them by surprise
>uh what else..
Venture Brothers. The ending was very much these people will live on and keep doing ehat they're doing.
yeah that was a little less of a hard break though. Nothing about their lives is really over or changed. I'd call that more of a Gargoyles ending. Big stuff solved and sorted, but totally leaving room for continuation as soon as the network gives the OK
Yea just Venture Tower being at the Compound location.
The characters weren't as funny these last few seasons, like Pam. Cheryl was straight up annoying and felt like she didn't even need to be there most of the time.
>Cheryl was straight up annoying and felt like she didn't even need to be there most of the time.
That's just Cheryl in general. Even when she does drive the plot, it's because of something somebody else is doing FOR her
It was satifying which was hard to do for a show with some many twists/turns and high/lows. You know?
You could feel the "wrap it up" energy in shit like Krieger's lab being introduced and dismissed with reason or narrative purpose. Like presumably that was a hook to the next season before it was scuttled.
Did the writers just decide that they genuinely fricking hated Cyril at some point or what?
that was obvious after they took him from a chad to a even worse beta than before. I was actually rooting for chad buff cyril, but he sadly got fricked.
It really stopped being funny the cyril abuse.
Yeah I kind of hate this, as slater was my fave new edition especially after the waterboarding scene. Now he's genuinely a schizo who wants to ruin archer for no real reason.
>The final boss of the show was Slater trying to pull a Liquid Snake
>All of it was pointless because Slater helped the UN vote win in the first place by getting Archer on the news and spy agencies are still around but they just go around hunting rogue spies instead
You know what have been cool, if he was Barry
Like Barry got copied at some point between the end of s2 and vice when Slater first appears and he's just been masquerading as him the entire time while the copy started degrading rapidly
"I mean really Archer, Christian Slater? The actor? You thought Christian Slater the actor worked for the CIA?"
"Okay, first of all, shut up. Second of all, shut up."
I never quite put together before how amusing that is. like that's exactly something Archer would buy, just like his obsession with TV's Michael Gray.
Archer is like playing with fireworks, you're young so you're all hyped up for it but then it's over before it really gets going and you realize it's a 22 minute show of loud pops and bangs and then it's over.
The first four seasons where good, the first hand full of season in any show is the good one's.
kys pedophile
Now now hold on he maybe spitting anon.
Pure projection from you my guy.
How many loose ends are left?
100s
about 5 jokes. over and over again
Only good coma season, coming through.
i love when they all decided to reference the hobbit which had just come out
not bad!
I somehow missed all of these threads you guys apparently had.
sometimes I think i'm the only one who liked thin coked-out pam. that shit was hilarious. and the noises she made while eating it cracked me up every time.
I liked the beginning but stopped watching around when Pam got thin, thats the general area where I got done with Archer just wasn't good enough to keep watching for me.
I stopped watching after the 1930s coma, what did I miss, did they make him cool again?
which 1930s coma? because the second one was a lot better.
then we got a just okay space coma
then he came back and we got to deal with him being the least valuable one for a while
then after making one good point about how he might be flawed but they are too and they use him as an excuse, i guess the creator left and they just fell into "meh make everyone a jerk with shitty luck"
it's still good
Creator left when he woke up, the final line he wrote in a script capacity was Archer saying ew in response to Mallory calling the show a love story
that was pretty fricking out of nowhere.
ah you're one of those. i hope it clears up for you sometime, anon
and for the record, rick and morty has a few profoundly intelligent episodes. Usually the ones where they take a genuinely unique concept and push it to its limit. Any unilateral judgment of that show misses the point since it is basically 6 totally different shows that happen to share the same title.
