In my school district, we weren't allowed to use backpacks or lockers for years because of Columbine. Then around 2004 when I was a sophomore, they started letting us use both again. I felt like a kid in a movie when I picked out my locker for the first time.
Not only are they real but when I was a senior and a football star I was assigned a cheerleader to bake me treats and essentially document my accomplishments. Every Friday before the game she would leave some cookies or brownies in my locker and also took pictures of me looking manly and framed them. I went to a private Christian school in the south.
I graduated in the early 00s and at my school virtually all of the cheerleaders were at least cute. The cheerleading coach was a hyper Stacey wanting to relive high school.
It is difficult once you have established a self-image as a "good" or "nice" person to change your behavior. You are attacked, and tell yourself "I'm better than that" and refuse to engage or release your anger. You tell yourself it is essential that you dont retaliate because you might not have a good enough reason, or you dont want others perception of you to change.
I am telling you now, this is simply an attractive form of narcissism. Holding the high ground because you cling to a self image rather than allowing yourself the release of violence or even a good verbal onslaught is simply you protecting your self esteem when it is dangerously low.
What you need to do for your mental health is give in to the moment the next time you're being humiliated and swing your fist at about 70% power right at their nose. It won't be dignified, it won't be graceful, you will probably miss and look like an idiot. They will probably laugh and humiliate you further. It doesnt matter because they'll just keep humiliating you anyway. Just make the promise before they leave that you can guarantee you will continue to swing every time they come within striking distance until the day you die.
Then stick to it. Damn the consequences, every time their nose passes within range of your fist you sock them directly in it. Eventually you'll get lucky or get good and start connecting, and eventually their brain will make them instinctively cower when you are near. It's brutal but it's how I've successfully defended myself from my wife, children, and mother in law for years now.
Are you big enough to fight back? If not I'd say fight dirty. Make it clear that you're not worth fricking with, you might get your ass kicked but if they come off the experience regretting it then they aren't going to frick with you again.
I went to an urban high school.
Some kid got murdered my freshman year. and
another was killed by someone going 70 in a 30 a couple of years later. People brought guns to school.
Almost no one went to parties.
One could say I had a benzo problem by senior year as well.
Still better than anything in my life that came after.
Believe it or not considered one of the best public high schools in the city.
It depends on the decade and area when you went to highschool since everyone's always moving the frick around in the US. mine was a lot of dopey wiggers and overly smug suburbanites and I didn't like anyone all that much.
I imagine that they probably aren't as white, clean and tidy as they are in these old movies and series. At least not the ones in blue cities or poor neighbourhoods.
Public schools in my country (Brazil) are nearly indistinguishable from prisons, but it wasn't like this in the past.
I found highschool comfy because my friends and I would just frick around all day every day. I just barely managed to graduate, though. In fact the only reason i graduated is probably because the school would look bad if they students that failed school
It depends on the school. I grew up in a relatively wealthy area so my school was full of cool people. I had a great time in highschool going to parties, hanging out with friends, playing in bands etc.
The answer really depends if you were chad or stacy. Most teens are angsty and prone to mood swings and depression, which is usually glossed over in films/tv. Personally, I hated it, even with a good amount of friends and being well-liked. College was overrated too. Being an adult in ur mid 20s with a job and ur own place is peak comfy imo.
Definitely not anymore, American youth has been thoroughly poisoned and sabotaged. Feel bad for zoomers, never stood a chance against liberal media/tech on top of feds and foreign shills. Letting your child have a smart phone or tablet is so fricking clueless and selfish, lazy.
I went to school in the South at the best public school in the state in the wealthiest city. It was pretty good. Obviously there were ups and downs, but everyone got along. My class was extremely smart and we had numerous kids go off to Ivy Leagues or other T20 schools (myself included). I will say one stereotype that wasn't true was star quarterback and hot cheerleaders. No one cared about our QB and everyone made fun of the cheerleaders for being ugly. I graduated mid-to-late 2010s btw.
Yeah the girls at my school in my class at least were pretty average while our rival school on the opposite side of the city had serious talent. So unfair baka.
Theyre full of angry moronic brown kids, junkies, morons and homosexuals
Are lockers real?
In British secondary schools we just had to carry our bags everywhere.
yes
>Are lockers real?
Yes but I never used mine, easier to just carry my shit around

Sounds comfy
would suck if you get stuck with an ugly girl
I graduated in the early 00s and at my school virtually all of the cheerleaders were at least cute. The cheerleading coach was a hyper Stacey wanting to relive high school.
Yes.
In america we had to ban backpacks and bags in our schools to stop kids from hiding guns in them
Only the ghetto schools do that, poorgay.
happened at my school and we were over 95% white
In flyover states we have parking lots full of gun racks on the first day of hunting season.
>ayo, teachin' b***h! J'quandrius got a glock in he Jansport!
they are but I never actually used mine. it was always easier to carry everything in my backpack
im english (yorkshire) and in primary school we had drawers that served the same purpose
You wont get an honest answer, most of the people here were ruthlessly bullied in high school
How do I stop getting bullied...
have sex with your bullies mom

Maybe in the 80's some were
Now they are democrat run, Black person filled shitholes
They are the equivalent to prison for kids
Yes. I went to hippy high in central mass tho. Everyone got along and partied together. Lots of bonfires, lake parties etc..
Same experience for me but I went to a high school in a predominantly white, affluent area in south Orange County.
no, they're full of bullies and the classrooms are 90% chalk
Depends on the highschool, not so comfy for my first two years but the other half was pretty fun.
In the 2010s they were
They're genuinley the best years of your life if you go to a good one. Otherwise it's miserable.
>Are American high schools as comfy
If the racial makeup is the same as pic related, yes
only if all the students and teachers are white

Only if you go to a private school.
t. went to private school
only the private ones with money
No, they're hell. It's not the 1980s anymore.
The experience is different for every person. It all depends on where you live and if you have friends or not.

there's much more existential dread and people sleeping off drug/alcohol induced hangovers

I'm so glad I didn't go to school during the current age of corona and tiktok, seems hellish. We barely had facebook.
not really
poor people should be executed
Are tests really mostly multiple choice?
Once, maybe
Depends on how rich and nice the area is.

No. I hated everyone. At least I went to a suburban school where not many kids were disruptive.

Pretty kek to remember that some schools had a full squad of nice cheerleaders and others had ugly ones. There was no in between.
