No moron, comics are just superhero bullshit and dont matter
    Manga has taken over
You can read romance, adventure, etc and there's tons of them

Rather for comic people will say "bro comics are cool read this comic that was released in fricking 2001"
When manga has the best adventure book you'll ever read and it was released 2 years ago

Its moronic to not read a good shit just because of the art style. I read lots of good western stuff even with the art I dont like at all.

If you can't find a single manga art style that you like you might be legitimately blind

Anyway, no, OP, comic books haven't been relevant for decades now, they sell less than shit and the only function they serve is cheap R&D for Hollywood IP mining. It's a dead format and the sooner they finally rot away so we can try to replace it with a business model that actually makes sense the better

Agree with you, gentlemen. What's the point of reading comics with shitty art anyway? It's like playing a video game with shitty gameplay. It doesn't matter how good the story is if the visuals are bad. When I read a comic I want both the art to be pleasant to look at and the story to be interesting to read, if all I wanted was a good story I would just pick up a book.

Manga has different styles too but I bet you only like generic modern looking shit, anything unique scares you off.

Another day, another stinky weeb troony

Marvel and DC used to have tons of those titles back in the day from the 1930s to the 1980s

Problem is no one reads anymore period, and if they want other genres they go to tv and streaming

Nobody reads manga anymore, grandpa, it's not the 1990s. Zoomers prefer webtoons, they're easy to read on your phone, and this format is much more suited to the digital age than paper comics. They are also the real-life embodiment of McCloud's Infinite Canvas, as close to it as it is possible.

That doesn't solve the problem of no one wanting to go to comic shops in the first place. The biggest problem beyond lower quality standards is comics not being on newsstands.

            >hough admittedly the magazine sections are shrinking
exactly. You barely even see archie digests anymore. So why blame it on lack of newstand distribution when newstands are as relevant as sockhops and soda jerks these days?

I do see those pretty regularly though, and can’t understand why DC and Marvel don’t repackage their old comics the same way, as goofy kitsch artifacts of a bygone age, except that it might amount to admitting that no one cares about their current output.

The long global recession that started in 2008 and has accelerated even more since 2020, following the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, coupled with the wave of depression that has hit everyone now between the ages of 20 and 45, is keeping comic books from staying relevant: prices continue to rise, and competition from manga and webcomics, as well as other forms of entertainment like video games, TV shows, etc., is only increasing. People are forced to work more hours for less money than they used to, which means they have less money to buy comics and less time to read them. When you get home at 9pm, after a 12 hour shift at work, you don't want to put too much stress on your brain, so it's easier to just turn on the telly and watch (or rather listen to) some stupid Netflix show while ordering a pizza and scrolling through your Twitter or Instagram feed, than trying to read another story with characters whose adventures you were last interested in 20 years ago, when you ran to the local comic book shop right after school and bought the long-awaited issue with the money you got from your parents for a good grade on a test... that smell of paper, that atmosphere of the shop, that discussion of new plot twists with your best friend who was also into comics.... you can't get it all back, it's all gone, all these experiences are nothing but memories of the old times, the good times, so stock up on antidepressants and pretend to be happy and full of joy every working day so that your boss doesn't see you in a bad state of mind and fire you for some made-up reason. And comic books? Well, 99% of modern comic books are nothing but remakes of the old stories with some new characters and details, and you've already read all the good stories anyway, so nothing can impress you anymore, nothing can bring you more fun than what you've read as a kid.
