Are physical media collectors the future elite of humanity? 100 % the a.i. is going to destroy all the movies of the past, ala the burning of the Library of Alexandria.
It will contain records of things too subversive for the world ahead, things like nuclear families and peaceful suburbs. Concepts such as love, and justice, and harmony.
I don't remember my copy of WWATCF having that cover as a kid.
It reminds me of a recent post from some anon saying he's only seen the Depp wonka and asked if the original is any good. Wtf
Steelbook collectors lost.
First Mario, now this?
My VHS copy had that cover
DVDs eventually go bad, I've treated my collection well and every time I turn around there's a movie or show that skips now or will give me an error message when I pop it in a DVD player
Shit sucks, man. I made sure to back up my dvds digitally just in case I lose them.
You just need to wipe them often so dust doesnt stick and start to rot the disk.
even dust free discs with no signs of disc rot seem to stop working randomly
Might be your players laser then or software bug of player. Discs with no signs of rot or damage work fine in decent players.
No, tried them on multiple players, they skip at the same parts, or don't work. It's definitely the discs going bad for some reason that isn't visible to the eye. I've had the same issue with video game discs from Xbox and PS2 games that use DVD-ROM. Never had issue with my blu-rays though, just DVDs.
Oh I dont have many dvds anymore, I kept maybe 5 that I cant get on bluray. Rest is all bluray or 4k. That sucks as there is nothing worse than wanting to watch a film and the disc doesnt work!
Don't throw your discs around like a child
I treat my DVDs like priceless artifacts, I don't even let friends borrow them because I don't trust them not to frick them up. Doesn't change the fact that they age and go bad eventually.
Huh? I have zero problems with any of my discs besides the gits2 bluray. They sit on a shelf. What makes you think I throw my discs around lmao?
For example I have two 4k uhd players, a panasonic ub900 and ub9000, gits2 doesnt read on the ub900 ( its old got it at launch of 4k players) but works fine on the newer ub9000.
Toothpaste fixes dvds
I have cds from the 80s and movies from the 90s, theones that go bad were defective from the beginning.

Nah AI can't be forced to mental gymnast, it couldn't if it tried. Why they have to lobotomize or straight imprison every one from the parts of its "mind" doing the ~~*problematic thought*~~
What you really should be worried about it solar events, a strong enough CME would fry all the electronics. If we're past the point of people understanding how computers work and how to make them (since knowledge like that would be tedious to learn when an AI could just hold all that knowledge), that's the burning of the library.
>AI being able to arrange pixels on a screen or coherent text is going to destroy all the other media!
...
can you guys mark supply caches on a map and share it just amongst Cinemaphile gays in the last week or so before ww3? I'll mark them on my map and sell it to chuds after the apocalypse.
>00 % the a.i. is going to destroy all the movies of the past
in the future Windows 2046 will prevent you from pirating anything
also all streamers will ban movies that are even the least bit not woke
It’s not gonna be AI, it’ll be more like streaming sites and Amazon slowly blacklisting and censoring movies that show controversial themes or “outdated ideas”. Most people aren’t willing to seek out the actual uncut versions, let alone preserve them
Yeah but AI is going to enforce it
Meh, why would they use AI when there’s 10000 seething diversity managers ready to go at all times?
Sometimes I think we should blow away all the movies in history so humanity can have the artistic freedom to make new stories.
except for Nick Cage movies. He's done a wide enough variety of films that one could keep them around as representation of what was, without them overshadowing the new creation.
You spelled archiving pirates wrong
AI isn't the problem, the problem is shit going out of print, even popular shit, because Netflix or whoever has had it licensed for a decade.
But when that lapses, nobody is ever in a rush to do any kind of rereleases.
ESL as frick
can't wait for the A.I.'s all-black-and-gay edition of both Deliverance and The Exorcist
Disc rot. Just pirate everything and back up your hdds.
