Better than the Disnep movies, sure.
Star Wars in general is dead. They fricked it up so badly that it will never recover but people will accept the dog shit that they get served because they need more of it.
I think that's an indication of just how great the OT is. They've been trying and failing to capture that magic for 40 years now.
The OT was/is great but there's o denying that SW died on 14th December 2017.
star wars died the day lucas sold it
>Press X to make man walk forward
No, your walking simulator will never be considered art
Deranged comment.
>comment
ESL shitskin or boomer?
he was talking about the comment you made you moronic fricking zoomer for frick sake are you that stupid you don't understand what the word "comment" means?
They're fun but the stories just continues to retcon and there's a bunch of mega powerful Jedis that survived that we never heard of. Story wise only the OG trilogy holds up and everything made after it is just fanfic
>try to discuss a game on Cinemaphile
>crickets
>check what threads actually are moving
>anime anime WoW skyrim sex mods anime
Cinemaphile is my people now. Everytime I stray to other boards I'm repulsed.
>omg rdr2 so boring horses and dialogue upsets me
>this is for Cinemaphile not me I'm gonna go download more games to not play
Truly the worst culture to ever exist.
>>”Slop”
Sometimes I wonder why some Anons complain about others having short attention span and at the same time we have post like these, just go ahead and play ubi-slop if you can’t sit still for 2 minutes. It’s just sad at this point man.
RDR2 is just a worse, more boring RDR in every metric. Only homosexuals who loved shit like tlou2 think rdr2 is a good game lmao
Really dude? It isn’t cool to insult me by comparing those who enjoy tlou2 to me, I would agree with the fact that RDR is a better game. I have so many issues with tlou2 that I don’t even think I should give my time to explain as it’s a waste, unless If your interested to hear it Anon.
I didn't play tlou 1 or 2 so it would be wasted on me but it's never a bad thing to post some good opinions for lurkers
That’s a good point you made there honestly, I don’t blame you for not playing the tlou games especially the 2nd one with its reputation. It is a shame that RDR won’t get a remake or even a remaster
I'm gonna marathon the Abrams series next week and see how it tastes to really take it all in.
Just eat some ass, you may have more fun than watching the movies but overall its the same thing.
The story and the characters in the first game were complete ass. Boring shit on the same level as the shitty side characters in Book of Boba Fett.
>the first game
You mean Fallen Order? I'm playing it right now first time and it feels great. Mostly.
I'm really just in it for the star wars feels. Soundtrack, setting and story. You can't beat star wars music and atmosphere.
The best Star Wars media since the OT are the Kotor games.
These games look like a worse The Force Unleashed at least TFU had GTA IV animations and Starkiller wasn't an ugly ginger
I remember seeing a post on Twitter comparing the sales across all platforms for Jedi Survivor, against some of the new Disney Plus series, and Jedi Survivor came out on top. Star Wars Vidya is doing just fine, but Star Wars TV is drowning. Sad!
The Mandalorian seemed successful though. I haven't seen it.
According to SambaTV which tracks smart TV data, Mandalorian Season 3 episode 17 got 1.6 million households watching.
According to data on Jedi: Survivor's peak player count, at launch there were nearly 4,000,000 in-game across all platforms.
I was so ready for her to reject Cal and reveal she's lesbian. That mission in the desert when they can finally talk a lot and then she kisses him was an extremely pleasant surprise. Even better when they actually continued to be together
there's a tie in book that makes merrin gay, i can't remember if sam maggs waifu's her or self-inserts but respawn ignored everything in it.
she's the gta virtual rape moron https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQkENXa9WNE and she some how bullshitted her way in to a job at insomniac and got mad when everyone wasn't treating her as the writing genius she believes herself to be https://www.resetera.com/threads/sam-maggs-speaks-out-after-insomniac-lead-designer-mark-stuart-dismisses-her-rest-of-teams-contributions-to-rivet-during-gdc-talk.567484/
I was vaguely aware that was where Cal's new crew came from. Thought it was kind of annoying to introduce them all in the game just to kill them all in the tutorial, but it at least gave Cal the reason for having the mindset he has and the arc he goes through for the rest of the game.
Pretty fricking funny from an outside perspective though, she introduces a bunch of new characters and gives Merrin a gay relationship and Respawn brings them all to the game to immediately kill them and never mentions anything about Merrin meeting anyone lmao. That's a pretty strong message
Wat? I read that abhorrent book and I don't remember any of those characters showing up at the beginning of Survivor. They had two new alien girls in the book and they both fricked off in the end, the new girl at the beginning of Survivor was a human.
I just assumed he met them all in the book
No one reads expanded universe Star Wars books, it's not 1991
>puts gay flags all over nyc in their spider-man games
>denies women credit and does everything to remove her being involved with the game
is insomniac based or cringe?
>endorse fudge packing
>hate women
standard homosexual behavior
The latter is not some sort of vendetta or statement, it is merely the truth. She only worked on Rift Apart for a time, and not in any capacity that wound up in the final game. If she wants to whine about it, that's her problem. She's not even credited as one of the writers in the game, let alone head writer (as she has claimed to be in order to issue wide reaching statements about Rivet, the character, you can take three guesses as to what the statements were).
>there's a tie in book that makes merrin gay
Meanwhile at Respawn:
Sex with Merrin
post more of her
>Jedi Survivor
Did'nt he main director just quit
sure did
It's over...
Star Wars needs to divorce itself completely from Solo/Skywalker/Palpatine etc. and do a massive time skip. then move away from the black/white of sith/jedi, it's too childish, we unironically need some grey in this shit, give characters more dimension
I want some Hutt kino.
Literally what the main character of Fallen Order/Survivor goes through
i know, it's not exactly ground breaking stuff, but better than the movies. haven't played the last game yet, but enjoyed fallen order well enough.
the SW universe is such an untapped treasure trove in the movies. i'm sure much of this shit has been explored in legends material etc. and some of the games do it too, but i think it would be better off if it went away from sith/jedi/rebels/republic, or at least moved it forward. they've been stuck doing the same shit for too long.
The rebel stuff is just ridiculous at this point. Not every single fricking story has to be centered around rebellion against something.
The "rebellion" against the First Order was just absurd, the First Order are the ones rebelling lmao
A complete waste of a solid setup, too, by having the villains be the smaller rebel force this time, and their insurgency against a large slow and cumbersome galactic government being a bad thing unlike the OT's rebellion. Even ties into changing views and circumstances in the real world.
I think the first games characters and overall writing were stronger, the second one has some good characters and great moments but overall a much weaker plot.
Probably about on par with Rogue One's writing but without major retcons like Rogue One's "the ventilation port was actually secretly made to specifically be a design flaw by the main architect of the Death Star"
the big twist of the second game and whole final part of the game after that was fricking awesome. if it wasn't for that id call the story completely forgettable. but that end elevated my thoughts on the game a whole lot.
Agreed it was a good one. I'm sure a lot of people here would claim it was obvious, but even if you guessed it just based on meta tropes it was still well done.
Although I was a little taken out when you meet that one jedi from all the logs of the first game and Cal is kind of like "oh cool you were here the whole time" I thought that dude was fricking dead
yea, kal hardly had a reaction to that at all. hes not a very good character. hes boringly good. boiled down hes, "yea whatever its just the right thing to do i guess and i won't let anyone stop me"
The story's main focus is on Cal wondering what the right thing to do is and struggling to find the answer.
>yea whatever its just the right thing to do i guess and i won't let anyone stop me
The complete fricking opposite of what happens at the end of both games
he helps everyone he comes across and it never seems like he has any conviction. he does question whether hes doing the right thing or if hes good enough, but that just seems so typical, and at the end of the day he is doing the right thing. he does lose it a bit near the end but i don't think you really feel any effects of it after the fact. i just don't feel his personally too strongly.
despite technically being a retcon the rebellion never learns that it's an intentional design flaw so as far as they're concerned it's still just something they realize they can take advantage of. fully seamless
Don't know about that one, but I liked Sith Warrior in SWTOR.
Games cannot be better than movies. Even the shittiest of movies is better than the best of these video game movies. The Phantom menace, an awful film, has better pacing, narrative, characters and plot than The Last of Us 2, which is crowned by game journalists as peak storytelling in gaming. At least Obi Wans feats of strength and power can be explained. In TLOU2, you go from controlling Ellie as a 1 girlboss 1 man army, to triggering a cutscene, to watching as Ellie, who was a terminator just a few seconds ago, turns into a helpless defenseless useless character so drama and consequences can happen. Because if you, the player, had control of Ellie, none of the events in the story could take place. And that immediately makes your game and its ludo narrative dog shit. It's irrelevant. Video games cannot tell good stories. These Star Wars games are no exception. Now to back to your Cinemaphileirgin board.
>Video games cannot tell good stories.
Absurd statement. The story of a game especially a franchise game like star wars has nothing to do with the medium. Opinion discarded.
tlou had better acting and direction in the game than the show did so theres that.
but theres still more movies with good writing than games.
and for games to really compete with movies there can be no jank at all. and thats rare as hell.
>Starts throat singing
>they dropped the ball on s2
you're an idiot, season 3 is where they goofed, season 2 was kino as frick even with all of its fanservice. that ending is by far the best thing they've done since the sale.
Better girls
Who is this ginger twink?
Cal Kestis, a padawan that had to flee and hide when jedis got hunted down. First game is about him becoming a full fleged jedi, he's a cool character.
Okay, any nude or sex scenes?
not in the game but you know the internet, there's something out there
Just making out and not until Survivor
this was kino as any film or tv show, it actually the most ive been immersed in something in a very long time, Nothing made me feel like i was in the world like this game
agreed. the before the storm prequel to this is still the my favorite story in a game.
It really is a “So bad it’s good” type of game, really recommend if you have friends to hangout with. If you want a sneak-peak of the events one of the things that happen is that a Blue-haired art student illegally acquires a gun, declares that men shouldn't be allowed to own guns, goes out and shoots herself, shoots an innocent dog, shoots his owner... if you told me this was satire I would believe you.
Man, it truly is something isn’t it? Though at first I would recommend for you to sail the seven seas if you don’t like having your money stolen.
why are you responding to someone who is praising the game as if they haven't played it
I wouldn't point to one of these movies as an exemplar of anything except out-of-touch character writing
>except out-of-touch character writing
really, the girls in that game act nearly identical to girls in my high school in 2010
it came out in 2015
yes it did
And?
I watched an entire playthrough after it released and never even played the game just watching it was good enough. Only time that's ever happened.
you have awful taste not just in games but in writing as a whole. this shit was insufferable.
most enjoyable Star Wars shit i've seen are still the SWTOR cinematics
Agent and Sith Warrior have great stories, not just for an MMO or for Star Wars, but in general. Especially the former, which probably has more choice and consequence than most single player games that claim choices matter.
i know Agent has a great story, but every time i go back and replay SWTOR it's always as edgy sith warrior and just fricking over everyone
>not playing as evil Sith Inquistor who regularly gets the conversation option of "[Shock]"
Their VA is also as hilariously slimy as possible. The Bounty Hunter has a basic story, but I was impressed by what a depraved scumbag the evil Bounty Hunter is, not a cartoonish supervillain like the Sith, just an amoral piece of trash.
>Hunt down bounty
>The bounty turns out to be just a guy who exposed corporate crimes and they're trying to silence him
>He begs for you to spare him and offers you all the money he has
>Take a transfer of his life savings
>Insist you need proof of his death, make him cut his own hand off
>....then just pull out a gun and shoot him anyway and collect the bounty
>and take the evidence of the corporate crimes back to the corporation for some blackmail bonus cash
They also regularly get options to smack around people they talk to
That's how I played every mission in cyberpunk that let you do that
>let me live and I'll give you the code to my safe or what ever bonus
>get code, then kill them
One time Johnny was right in the middle of calling me a pussy for letting some corpo butthole off for a bribe as I shot him in the head and it just instantly cuts off his line. I was expecting him to keep talking as if I just left
>rip off Ben Skywalker (Luke's son)
>put him in a mediocre game that is only seen as good as every tv show and film has bombed
Nah, I am good.
>probably the only white heterosexual male protagonist in Nu Wars
>but also the blandest character you could possibly imagine
How does Disney manage to frick literally everything up?
archetypical hero innit, a bit bland yes, but considering what we get in the movies these days i'll take it and be happy
They should've gone with the redneck version, I tell you whut.
The fact that this isn't even a mod really adds some soul I think
A mullet was simply obligatory for Cal in Suvivor.
Give us some space flight sections and a couple side quests for it in the next one and we'll finally have Space Trucker Simulator
The games have been better than the movies since 1999.
I thought the first one was a decent 6/10 souls ripoff. Would I like the new one?
They say it's better in every way, except for the horrendous performance the devs never fixed
So check it out in 5 years, I guess
Arkham Knight is a good game as well, not that there is hardware powerful enough to play it without hitching
*now that
I'm just playing Fallen Order for the first time and loving it. Performance is good and graphics are great. It's definitely giving me my star wars universe fix for now.
There's some pretty nice little puzzles and areas to explore for the chests too, gave me that classic "I better check that water fall" and "gotta figure out how to get to that ledge for that chest" video game fun
Yes it's an improvement in all areas, especially customizing Cal.
I gave up on jedi survivor after about 3 or 4 hours as it feels like you're forced to replay the first one again.
Video games have been absolute dogshit since 2012, just like virtually all other media thanks to the passing of the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act.
2006-2016 had to be the worst period in video games ever. 6th gen was the absolute peak but right now is honestly really good. AA devs are back and indies are better than ever.
Yeah I've been playing loads of games from 2018 onward recently and its crazy how good the graphics are holding up and the amount of content. A golden age in my opinion.
EPIC gave away Outer Worlds on Christmas.
I think graphics might have peaked with Arkham Knight in 2015
they nailed Catwoman, that face would also make for a really good Yennefer in Witcher, females with "strong" features are kino
>but right now is honestly really good
There is no way a human being sincerely holds that opinion. I wouldn't wipe my ass with any of the games made in the last 6 years.
Ok
Go back to your gay bear sex, zoomer.
>keeps talking to no one
Do you often have imaginary arguments?
You think you're being patrician but you're actually just senile. Many such cases.
ok zoomers
I'm probably older than you. It's usually late 20s early 30s people who have slipped into early senility. Something about graduating after 2008 but before 2016 messed you guys up.
ok zoomer
why are you trying this hard to have an argument
ok zoomer
Lots of great games were released from 2011 to 2016. 2023 was a return to form, but 2019 - 2022 were grim.
usually no but there are obviously exceptions
>GINGERED
Makes other droids seem like a joke.
R2d2 and the ball from the new movies might as well be scrapped and replaced with these guys.
They must be more expensive and rare
Sure
