I remember reading the book last summer and it was enjoyable. I was looking forward to this, even while knowing Netflix was going to pozz it up. But they changed a LOT of shit:

>no cyberattacks, no drones dropping leaflets, no oil tankers on the beach, no emergency broadcast on the TV

>no guns being drawn when they visit the prepper
>prepper's wife is also about to lose her teeth when they're talking
>white daughter is never obsessed with Friends or any show at all, she's just autistic and ugly
>the chaos is happening all around the world, not just in the US, and it is implied to be something beyond human control
>near the end it says one woman (the owner of the house the white daughter ends up in) will die months after the story takes place in some army tent outside of some major city, meaning the chaos will go on
>deers never get close to anyone
>Amanda never reconciles with the black woman (which would be the daughter in the movie). In fact, they end up screaming at each other

Well, if you're going with cyberattacks, hacking and propaganda shit then remove the deers, it doesn't fit.
At first a supernatural explanation was cool

that scene in the beginning confused me where the ship crashed into the shore. im not sure a ship like that would make it that far onto shore... also, I'm guessing the ship was technologically automated and since part of the premise of the film is cyberattacks, that the ship just lost control? also, i'm guessing all the people evacuated it on life rafts
