Are there any concert movies worth watching? I've already watched U2 and Pink Floyd: Pulse and Live Aid, it was amazing. I need to dig deeper into this niche genre.

Stop Making Sense is probably the best concert movie ever made
I came here to post this. Anyone who likes music of any kind should watch this. I've been watching it since my dad had it on laserdisk in the early 90's. We watched it many times and it's one of my all time favorites now. These recordings are the definitive versions of the songs, anyone who says otherwise is wrong. The set, songs, atmosphere, and talent is unreal and is easily the best live full concert / musical performance put to film.
these two are probably the best
Hi, Steve.
and the music videos for the singles are great too
>pay 500$ to pack yourself into a giant mob of drunks just to hear an inferior version of a song you could hear in high detail at home in comfort while seeing a tiny dot run back and forth on a stage a half mile away
Wrong on all but the drunks part lol
poor fricks, you all probably are debt maxxing goyslop eating Black person worshippers.
normies base their entire self worth on what concerts they have attended
You b***h. You fricking loser. You have no clue what it’s like to go to a concert and be a part of history. To just let yourself go and be a part of the vibe.
>what it’s like to go to a concert and be a part of history.
I think you over-value concert-going. I'm sure I've been to more than you have, and yeah it's great, but a part of history? Come on!
Most live concert vids do lots of editing to work out the kinks. Read the credits and see how many people worked ont he post-production side.
In some cases the live versions are better than the studio originals.
>Most live concert vids do lots of editing to work out the kinks. Read the credits and see how many people worked ont he post-production side.
And what difference does that make?
It's not an exact recording of what the live audience saw. One thing that annoys me is for hard rock and metal the heavy percussions drums vibrate the arena every time the drummer kicks his foot, and the bass guitar produces BASS that's noticable without being even remotly subtle. Plus lots of bright tone.
BUT for the recording they always soften the sound dynamics to a flat midrange so a lot of the live tone and bass are simply clipped to where you get a better representation for what it truly sounded like from frickin youtbers.
I hear you, but I, for one, am more than happy to reap the benefits of a multitrack recording of a concert that can be mixed until it's just so. Soundman fricked up the background vocal balance on the 2nd chorus of a particular song? No worries. Guitar solo in another song was buried until the third bar? No worries. When watching the Stadium Tour with an excellent set of headphones, I never once felt as if I was missing out on anything. Top notch mixing.
Flat-EQ mixing isn't top-notch.
THIS is what it sounds like live, and should sound like in live concert vids (I hope you have good headphones or speakers):
We have to agree to disagree. By any standard of fidelity, Stadium Tour blows that Rammstein away. But hey, if you like the "raw" sound of a camera mic picking up the distant sound from the concert speakers then more power to you.
I paid over $1k to do it in vip last week. Amazing time.
I fricked a Mexican chick in the back of a venue once, anything can happen at these shows anon
It's a normie thing. They don't go to concerts for the music just like they don't go to restaurants for the food or bars for the drinks. It's about having experiences with other people.
Yup and i have many memories doing it, what memories will you have, neet?
Kek not wrong anon, I have been to a few concerts but I can't say I had any fun at them unfortunately
>going to see someone who plays inferior versions of their music
unironically ngmi
Muse at Wembley
Woodstock
Seconding this but do it high as frick if you want a good time. It's kinda boring stone sober.
I would also recommend, in no particular order:
The Doors at the Hollywood Bowl
Rush: Exit Stage Left
Iron Maiden: Raising Hell
Literally any Grateful Dead recording, they are all unique and fascinating
Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii (particularly if like Pulse)
King Crimson Live in Takamatsu, Japan (2015)
Muse live at the Mayan
good recommendations except Muse because they are gay and shitty
I'm honestly not a huge fan of their music, but their live show is still pretty fun to watch just from a visuals perspective. Plus the Mayan is a really fricking cool venue as well. Definitely the weak link in my list though.
Doors are good live unless Jim Morrison is shitfaced
I disagree but not completely. Doors are at their peak when Jim is sloshed/high enough to loose his natural introvertedness but not so stoned he can't perform. It's a very fine line and I picked Hollywood Bowl because it's the best example I can think of.
>Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii
This one is super good
>And speaking of AID's ridden shitholes-here's Queen!
Pink Floyd live in Pompeii. Saw that at a drive-in way back then
Not a concert film but check this out if you’re a Rush fan
The Last Waltz
Type O negative symphony for the devil.
REM tour film
a masterpiece

Vieuphoria
Cringe music
Metallica - Live Shit: Binge & Purge - Seattle, 1989
Monsters of Rock - Moscow, 1991
Woodstock, 1999
Incredibly based
>Monsters of Rock - Moscow, 1991
Unrelated but it annoys me when Metallica fans brag they played to 500,000 crowd when it was a multi band line up.
Nirvana: Live at the Paramount. It's on YouTube
Toto - Onstage at the Agora, 1979 (old quality concert but it's a kickass set all the way through)
Eagles - Capital Centre, 1977
Gary Moore - Stockholm, 1987 and Live Ballads and Blues, London, 1992
holy shit, all of these boomer bands suck ass
Go visit Lil Peep at the graveyard
>Niche genre
I hope this is bait and not zoomer ignorance.
The Song Remains the Same, especially for those cringe short movies each of the band members made
This Is Awesome. Best parts are the fight with the bouncer during Love Buzz, and Negative Creep with the intermittent strobe light and Cobain wearing a car air freshener.
Also check out Nirvana Unplugged, its impeccable reputation speaks for itself.
not a "concert film" per se but a must for any music fan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhVn7oF28MI
Easily one of the best concerts I’ve seen and I didn’t even go for them but for Shirley Manson and Garbage ( who were terrific) but No Doubt was just on another level. Gwen Stefani is the real deal.
I saw Garbage live in probably 1996, I could see up her skirt the entire set
For some reason I had gotten the idea that she was a b***h but she was very charming and talked to the audience quite a bit
Is concert kino still possible when half the crowd is on their phones?
Sure it’s not a big deal
Because the music industry is satanic and israelite owned.
Stones at Altamont
Rolling Stones Rock n Roll Circus
Tay Tay 1989 tour is free on youtube in 4k. Kino soulful concert with one of the most unhinged personality of all time.
I didn't really care for her, but I watched her Reputation Stadium Tour video, and I have to say, I was damn impressed. The production values of the concert itself, and of the video are second to none.
1991's Metallica Live in Moscow is something else.
That sounds interesting
Based
The whole concert is.
AC/DC, Metallica and Pantera unite to destroy the USSR to one of the biggest recorded crowds in history.
ween had a legendary set in chicago
?t=3350
Ween is awful unironically
>when the johnny on the spot solo comes on
impeccable taste
Stop Making Sense is good, but I like Urgh! A Music War better since there's more variety. Surprised no one mentioned this yet, it's great.
I hate boomers so much
I've never been to a concert, am I missing out
yes? what kind of question is that? just wear concert earplugs so you don't get tinnitus
The combined female beauty of the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert is unreal.
the last waltz
korn
cannibus cup
slipknot
slayer
I enjoyed Sublime live at the palace
Primus - Hallucinogenetics
Even if you don't like Primus, the sheer power and talent captured on this thing is undeniable.
No love for RHCP at Slane Castle? Venice Queen in that set was fricking kino.
AC/DC LIVE AT RIVER PLATE.
Watch actual concerts by artists you like
Limp bizkit woodstock 99
This. It's an oldie, but a very goodie.
Just wanted to say I love this thread, thanks Cinemaphile.
The Grateful Dead movie

Muse Live in Rome
Rammstein in Amerika
The Who at the Isle of Wight, Townshend's on fire
Yea petes really sending it here and i dont even give a shit about the who
Frank Zappa - Baby Snakes
Ending Themes - Pain of Salvation
Meshuggah - Alive
U2’s Zoo TV and Popmart concerts are kino. Perfectly capture the carefree 90s euro-dance zeitgeist
Blue wild angel Jimi Hendrix live at the isle of wight. Extreme guitar kino, the best live recording he has.
https://imdb.com/title/tt0104556/
The last waltz
Woodstock 69
The song remains the same
Pink Floyd live at Pompeii
