I saw G-gundam on toonami and got toys from that specific line. I was kinda aware of 0079 but only through SD gundam(which is what originally killed interest of the franchise in the dates and bandai went full moron thinking SD gundam lack in popularity=Gundam in general), so yeah that was a thing. Also I think you need a better op image cause we’ve had a problem with people trying to use twitter tier shitpositng
I mean, I get why they pushed something as kiddie as SD Gundam Force. War stuff was a tough sell post-9/11 for a bit. The shows were getting increasingly censored and whatnot. Hell, Toonami even pulled Z Gundam before it aired (Bandai announced Toonami was gonna air it and then it never happened. I distinctly remember pack-in catalogs in US Gunpla releases shilling it), probably because they realized that some salty soccer moms were gonna complain about how deppressing it is.
So, a super dumbed down kids show for babies made just for Americans was what the suits at Bandai thought would work. It ultimately didn't, but it's a weird experiment. Nowadays, they'd have entirely outsourced something like that to a Western studio. Instead, it was what Japanese writers though Burger kids liked.
The rumor was Zeta got pulled when SEED exploded in popularity and they wanted to push that instead. Hasbro saw blood in the water and Transformers came back to take back the giant robot market in American.
Probably a blessing in disguise to be honest. No idea how they would’ve worked around some of the more grim stuff, especially in the later episodes. I dunno why Toonami insisted on airing so many shows that were obviously not made for children. Seed and Outlaw Star got put through the blender, Blue Gender was so bad they had to dump it on Adult Swim after they realised what a horrible mistake they made, etc
I guess dump Zeta on Adult swim, I think they made a good choice on not airing Zeta especially how darker it is compared to 0079, didn’t stop games from being released alongside the English dub
They aired the first two episodes as part of a mecha week (absolutely cut to shreds mind you, the second episode is a total mess) but I don’t think they ever intended to air the full thing, it was more of a one off
I didn't get into Gundam because of Gundam Force. Wing was my first show. I really liked it quite a bit. But, man. I was hooked when they aired First Gundam. I vividly remember running into the house and sitting down in front of the TV right as that first episode started.

Mecha week was fun. They aired Dai Guard, Nadesico and the finale from Robotech: The New Generation. Which is odd since they skipped out on airing New Gen after airing the first two parts.

Oh yeah. It's insane that they even tried.
Outlar Star actually is kind of a funny one. Since the first time they aired it, they fricked up and left most of the swearing in and only after that first run bothered to censor stuff.
SEED's crazy edits they did to the guns were great though. Making all the human-sized guns look like wacky, brightly-colored Nerf guns was great.
I remember hating when Toonami ran the original gundam because my dumbass thought it looked like shit when compared to Gundam Wing. I didnt realize till much later how much older it was.

thanks xister, very cool
Canada oldgay. First exposure to Gundam was Wing on YTV. Then the original English language 0079 VHS release with Steve Blum char and British Bright. Good times. Don't make em like they used to.
Literally everything on the right except for G-Reco was on the official Gundam youtube channel 'before Toonami went off the air for years. Left is just an entry level gay.
Whatcha wanna know, tourist?

Didn't Toonami try to air Eva too?

Got into Gundam through SD Gundam Force like did, then Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

Stop spamming/flooding moron.
Victory and 0080 need to switch sides, War in the Pocket was one of the worst Gundam entries pe-IBO.

Don't personally care for anything that tries to humanize Zeon.
Oh, you're one of those.
Let me ask, did you do this? https://desuarchive.org/m/thread/19217918/#19233932
So you hate the original series?
I bet he's a SEED fan, given that it doesn't even bother to humanize the enemy.

People who post woe-jack in any way, shape or form should be crucified.
Considering how many antagonists did this in a ton of Tokusatau and Mecha anime(and cutey honey), this doesn’t seem out of place

Only good shows in the left corner are OG, 0080 and G.
Will never not make me laugh how 08th MS team gays always sneak it in together with the actual good stuff
Zeta but everyone's pistol gets the disco treatment.
30 years old. Grew up on toonami and adult swim gundam shows. Zeta clears them all easy. Go back.

>2000s
>OG
It aired on Toonami for the first time back then. By your logic, all ofvthose were from before the 2000s
