Are there any truly great movies made after 2010?

I'm tired of getting baited to mediocre viewing experiences by high ratings on Letterboxd and IMDB.

UTSL is straight up kino. Part murder mystery, part fantasy, part conspiracy and a lot of wacky fun and hot chicks. If you're not entertained it's because you're a filtered brainlet who needs capeshit to get off.

Plenty of okay movies after 2010 and speaking of 2010, that was an alright film. Easier to follow than 2001

One thing I really liked about this movie is how it portrayed the taboo of cannibalism. Started out with some guy peeling and eating the skin off his own wound, and when the first ones finally submitted to the temptation you just get a slight, but disturbing view of shadows reaching and feeding from the corpses

        >One thing I really liked about this movie is how it portrayed the taboo of cannibalism.
especially for the passengers on board who were all roman catholic. it wasn't just taboo, it was immoral as catholics believe you can be saved after you die. they held out much longer than I think agnostics would have. me personally, I wouldn't have hesitated.

well, for a movie about a plane crashing in the andes and the surviving passengers having to resort to eating the dead passengers then finding help by trekking across a vast mountain range, they did a pretty good job. have you seen the original with ethan hawke?

You're right. I should have known better. Netflix and A24 are the certification marks for time wasters. I was interested in the story and the movie was highly rated so i gave it a chance. It wasn't bad but sadly only okay, a clichéd movie.

I think this was wildly underrated, though it was definitely my reality check for Aronofsky appreciation. His take on his own movie is so pathetic that it actually hurts me to listen to him talk about it. I also hate Jennifer Lawrence, but I'm pretty good at compartmentalizing that stuff. Also Hardy, Pfeifer, and Bardem do a ton of heavy lifting. If you can ignore the two massive fricking tampons in front of this thing it's a solidly structured and occasionally quite tense interpretation of biblical material.

Hmm, so a more modern movie, post-2010s, that was artistic and really made me think. In other words, I didn't feel stupider after watching it..
    That's a good question.

I have been watching a lot of artsy movies recently because I feel like a lot of very modern shit is shit. I saw recently
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989)
    Accattone (1961)
    Exotica (1994)
    Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989)
    Satyricon (1969)
    Buffalo '66 (1998)

Ok I know, so I saw and liked The Master, Phantom Thread and The Lighthouse. They were reasonably good for more modern stuff.
I'm sure there are more recent movies that are really artistic and intelligent but it just seems harder to find them.
Also really good writers and directors are harder to find period.
