Oh there will be. But it will be us adapting the Heir to the Empire, Jedi Academy and New Jedi Order series dropping their PDFs into the AI tools and receiving full length shows or movies with full voice acting and perfect photorealistic copies of these homosexual actors during their prime. No idea, but every cover from the New Jedi Order books are similar in quality to this. Even Jaina and Jacen have great artwork. Modern day Hollywood couldn’t even find actors this aesthetic. We need AI tools. I know it’s a meme at this point, but one of my old childhood friends works at Adobe in the Bay Area and said the video AI tools they’re working on that haven’t been released publicly yet will give us the ability to make entire shows and movies similar in quality already to the still images we have free access to now. It’s coming. They’re going to have to figure out a way to pass laws to prevent us from making Hollywood completely obsolete.

I have been wondering this for years WHY THE FRICK DID THEY SHUT DOWN LUCAS ARTS.
the main thing that got millennials into star wars in the late 90s and early 2000s was the near endless spam of great movie tie in games. I cant even think of one game in the last decade that's tied directly into the sequel trilogy when the prequels had 100s.

how the frick did Disney frick this up so badly all they had to do was make a sequel trilogy that made sense. they should of sat around for 3 years setting up 5-10 different plots they could go with. pay 1000 nerds to look at them all make them sign an NDA then go with the one people liked best. but what they did was just rip off the OT and expected people to love what ever the frick they threw on the screen.

Hopefully not. And I say this as someone who actually likes Ahsoka character a lot. But between this and Rebels, he has done enough damage. Not surprising, considering he used to have George, a team of experienced screenwriters hired by George, a team of talented animators and excellent actors to carry his ass. And he had NO WRITING CREDIT on the original run of the show that made him famous! But the fans just gave him all the credit because he had the most publicity, when he was more of a middle-manager guy.

The funny part is a children cartoon being better written, better directed, better shot, better acted and looking visually more pleasing than a multi-million "prestige" live-action series. We don't want a Jabba the Hutt series or some shit explaining how R2-D2 is delivering food in a sushi restaurant. Nobody will watch that because nobody cares. The original movies were a nice hero's journey, milking it lowers the stakes way too low.
It totally hems in any story line, and we already know what's going to happen.
It's also why prequels very rarely work.

Absolutely not. The Filoniverse movie was announced prematurely and that's a recurring problem at Lucasfilm. The only reason Ahsoka was hyped up as the show that would save Star Wars is because it was basically the last thing Disney hadn't tried short of giving the fans what they actually want and doing a continuity reset. The only card they had left in their deck was to bring the cartoons into live action and they completely botched that, so now what? They have nothing.

The people who actually still like the D+ shows go absolutely bananas when Glub Shitto type characters show up, but the problem is there simply are not very many of those types of people. Disney was under the impression that there ware tens of millions of Star Wars fans who wait around with their mouths open wide for Disney to shit in like they're getting a gourmet dinner, but that is simply not the case. To have any kind of real success they have to actually make good shows and movies, and 6 filler episodes per season and 2 that are actually interesting and engaging is not good television.

Characters walking down long hallways and staring at each other awkwardly is filler to pad out a show's runtime. Don't let anyone gaslight you into thinking otherwise.

If Disney did a Luke Skywalker show the whole thing would be a long drawn out foreshadowing of where he ends up in The Last Jedi, and that would be an instant kiss of death for the show. A Luke Skywalker show is the one thing fans would go crazy for if it was done right, but Lucasfilm as it currently exists is incapable of making it without the fans hating it, and they know this. Look at how Obi-Wan ended up. I'm sure there were people at Lucasfilm who insisted that the show needed to be good and fought for it, but it was company policy that the show had to make Obi-Wan look bad and that it had to be a backdoor pilot for female characters, and that the reverse-bechdel test be enforced.

The reverse Bechdel test basically says that two male characters can't have a conversation without a female chaperone. It's why in the Han Solo movie, Han and Lando never actually get a moment alone to have fraternal bonding without L-Phoebe-7 interrupting them, and it's why Obi-Wan had to go on a quest with Leia instead of Luke even though Obi-Wan bonding with a young Luke is the show that was originally pitched. Company policy is that men are not allowed to be alone with each other because there are no male-only spaces anymore, because when men are left alone without the den mother watching they can potentially plot their escape from the longhouse. That is the mindset that exists at Lucasfilm and that's why a Luke Skywalker show is a non-starter, even if they wanted to make it.

      the problem is rebels fans

they are either people who watched the show as an adult because they're a manchild, or those who watched the show growing up (who are now adults) and got attached to it
coincidentally, both like TCW because its also a cartoon, and filoni worked on it

rebels, as a show, is not very good
but those people have nostalgia goggles for it, along with TCW
however, they believe the false notion that Filoni is this amazing writer because "he made TCW" (he didnt, and he only co-wrote one episode before S7)

Filoni panders to this fanbase with his characters, the ghost crew, rex, ahsoka, maul, his version of thrawn etc, but no one else gives a shit about those characters, or thinks they're too overused

Huge fan of season 1, but I dread for season 2. The strikes are a big part of why, but also there's always the dread of them trying to shove in some rebels cameos or something, and more pertinently the relatively tight plotting of season 1 will be harder to pull off if its supposed to cover all 4/5 years until Andor's death.

The worst thing about Ahsoka, like all Disney Wars, is that a competent team could have easily taken the concept and basically all of its wider plot beats (though would need to shorten or remove the MacGuffin hunt), and it would have been a slam dunk. The problem is Disney wants to do EVERYTHING in-house, and has no idea how to make good TV. They refuse to outsource to an experienced production company, so even when they have decent episode directors on, the show still ends up looking cheap. When they have not-so-experienced directors it looks like putrid fricking ass. Filoni also can't write (this was obvious the second his final-season TCW episodes dropped) or direct and he needs to be kicked out pretty much completely. He sucks.

A motorized lightsaber is actually a terrible design because it would frick up your wrist, and it would be easy to deflect blows from because it would be limited by how strong your wrist is. It's a simple matter of physics.

              Anonymous

No, it's an amazing design because it's like having an extra wrist, two actually since the circular joint can swivel on the hilt as well as move the emitter along its circumference. The blade can strike or block from essentially any angle. Here's an obvious example, say you lock a strike - Well the second blade can just swivel up from the direction of the enemy's pommel and cut them down, with no real defense but to retreat.

It also has all the advantages of Dooku's curved saber (or Ahsoka's in reverse), but even better because the angle can be adjusted at any time on the fly. It also fixes the core issue of saberstaffs because the two blades don't only need to be in alignment, meaning the element of predictability or restricting your own motions is removed.

The franchise is at rock bottom and Filoni has done absolutely nothing to fix it because he's yet to even acknowledge that anything has gone wrong.

The last season was good, and the siege of mandalore was the only good thing released under Disney. Though that probably shouldn't count, because it was largely developed pre-sale. The Bad Batch arc was written and animated way before when George was still around and it is 95% unchanged, and the other two arcs were also conceptualized with George and the scripts were written. Even though the middle arc was changed from an Asian guy to two Hispanic sisters, otherwise they are pretty much the same. It can't be called Filoni's solo work, because he was still relying on the scripts and notes that were developed with Lucas.

She has a list of all the men in hollywood who have touched her ass and so it's unlikely that there will ever be a grand public shaming of her. The closest we'll ever get is Steven Spielberg's snub of her at the Dial of Destiny premier when he honored John Williams instead of her. Disney should have fired her after The Last Jedi but they decided to take the slow painful approach of giving her every chance imaginable to redeem herself, and now they have to wait for her to retire before they can do anything to fix Star Wars.

                >not even improbable, just plain impossible
I mean taking the job would arguably be career suicide. They won't consider just anyone. They'd need someone with "clout" that people would trust. And considering the entire franchise is a joke to most people, who would want that?
Remember, Gunn only got the dcu after several other people turned it down before him. Star Wars is in a much worse state than DC.
                >We're talking about star wars, if it was put up for sale it would get immediate and gigantic offers from the biggest media conglomerates
Sure. But that's a different company. Disney can't salvage it, arguably, without retconning a shitton which would create a lot of controversy and look like they were backtracking

Look I don't know. But it makes sense, theoretically

You know, I'm really getting Elon Musk Twitter takeover vibes in regards to the Nelson Peltz saga. Disney is clearly deathly afraid of outsiders getting onto the board of directors, especially if they replace Bob Iger with an outside hire. We're never going to get a Disney equivalent of the Twitter files but something tells me that a host of high level executives are going to lose their jobs if Peltz is successful.

There's really only two ways I could see Kennedy being fired rather than just riding out another 5 years at Lucasfilm until she retires. Either an outsider takes the position of power needed to fire her, or Disney sells Star Wars to a company that is willing to fire her. Bob Iger is rumored to have been doing passive aggressive shit to try and get her to retire sooner but obviously he is an inept midwit, and it's his fault that Disney is stocked to the gills with insane ideologues, because he hired them.

And there’s also a Spielberg quote from somewhere that “Kathy knows where all the bodies are buried” from her previous career as Speilberg’s assistant, and while it’s a stock phrase, you have to wonder what it refers to exactly considering Steven Spielberg his friends have literally gang-raped white toddlers to death.

I tried watching an episode but the visuals just look so much worse. I don't know what it is exactly, the makeup looks weird and everyone looks fake like the entire thing is cg. Past shows and movies all looked fine so I don't know what they did here. I wish I wasn't too stupid to put it to words.

It's just bad designs, for example everything looks WAY too clean, the people, ships, equipment. Which might have worked in animation but here it just makes it look like a fan project.

It's because everything is shot on The Volume. If you need something to look dirtier on a real movie set you just need some charcoal and hairspray and it'll be done in a few hours. If a digital movie set doesn't look grimy enough there's a huge cumbersome technical process to change it, and in the end it's still CG.

I wonder which is going to be the first to fall, Disney+ or Paramount+? They are both notoriously bad streaming services held up entirely by back catalog content that can't get a hit. Disney got lucky with the first two seasons of Mandalorian, and they made sure double quick that it would be a victim of its own success.

        Anonymous

        I'd guess paramount+.
Realistically, disney+ has one ace up its sleeve: gen x'ers and millennials with young kids.
Every parent with young kids wants to raise them on the disney classics they loved as a child. The disney princess films and the renaissance films.
Disney+ is a (relatively) cheap way to get all that conveniently as well as a bunch of animated shows to show their kids when they need to entertain them with something "safe".
That market will be very loyal. It's not enough to sustain the platform as it is but it will still bring in a lot of money.

They were making more money selling DVDs and Blu-Ray and then the studios all agreed it was time to kill the home video market and go into streaming. Target only has an endcap for movies now, it's pathetic.

            >They were making more money selling DVDs and Blu-Ray
            Were they really?
Selling a subscription is the dream of every corpo, plenty of people pay once and then either forget to cancel or leave it running out of habit, and that's just the people who would normally not give them money otherwise.
Do we have actual figures? Remember the stock's price and mcap doesn't actually reflect the reality of a company's finances.

Most analysts agree that home video was much more profitable for Disney than streaming. In fact, streaming isn't profitable at all, and that's part of the problem. Home video was a huge part of Disney's income and Iger gave it the flush to speculate on streaming.

It's too late to revive the brand. Having been on SW forums since the prequel days, the brand has never been more dead. And I myself have become apathetic towards it. Not even in the mood to engage in the EU stuff, or anything to it.

  66. 7 months ago

I just don't understand why I should care about the Filoni-verse when we already saw Rise of Skywalker and knows that none of these events even matter in the slightest. Why do I care about Thrawn coming back if he is a non-factor (if not already defeated) by the time Palps also comes back to life and is the biggest threat? Why do I care about Ahsoka when she is, once again, missing in all the key events of the Sequel Trilogy?

I've asked this to other people in the past and the default response is
    >Well why do you care about any other Star Wars media aside from the main films
And my answer is that most other *good* SW media don't tie themselves heavily into fate of the galaxy type bullshit. Clone Wars video games and shows were contained in that time period and never had any grand ambition beyond that. Even the new Jedi Survivor games is about some dude just adventuring across the galaxy with his witch waifu. Yet with Ahsoka I'm expected to believe Thrawn is about to revive the Empire to a point of strength that they can overthrow the Republic and will bring in the Dathomir witches or whatever yet none of this ever shows up in the movies. The only cope I can think of is that this will all come back in the new Rey trilogy coming up, but I can't see Kathleen giving Filoni input into any movies and will just keep him on the Disney+ bench.

Starring a literal troony. With no connection to any of the previous films. Daphne Keen is another one of the leads.
They've already filmed the entire thing too. It was originally set to release in November but they haven't even shown the trailer yet. Probably because they're so confident in its quality...

Dafne is okay. I don't know if she's sufficiently charismatic to lead a blockbuster sci fi franchise though. His Dark Materials worked because she's supposed to be a smartass teenager who's withdrawn and distrusting of adults.
