You ever feel like they make Jerry "too" pathetic?

Think about it. Lets look at a handful of things Jerry has done whenever things go his way

    >His ideal version of Beth is literally a Blow-Up Doll
    >Literally someone who will just lie their motionless not talk for him to frick whenever he wants
    >When the Federation takes over Earth they give Jerry a job and while he's very good at the job he like all things he gets put in lets it go to his head
    >His mom is into NTR
    >Interracial NTR on top of that
    >His father is a cuckhold

It's been obvious for years that the writers want you to dislike Jerry and character assassinated him multiple times because they were mad people liked him.

I thought the joke behind the divorce season was that Chris Parnell couldn't commit to the whole season and that was their answer to cutting down his role.

They made him too pathetic at one point and it became obvious the writers were just projecting some shit about dads or normies who made them feel unspecial onto him, but I think they realised they were going way too far with it and started giving him more wins and generally making everyone less antagonistic towards him

      >You ever feel like they make Jerry "too" pathetic?

he's the meg. And has always been the Meg, from day one.

They go too hard with it. Which would have been fine had they stuck with the divorce. But they didn't, so they should probably tone it down.

Though, imo, they should tone down a lot of the meanness now that rick prime is dead. Is anyone still watching for that? Just a bunch of drunks and teens yelling at each other?

        Anonymous

They toned down the Jerry hate since at least the whole fortune cookie thing. He's obviously still pathetic, but he's shifted to more of the straight man than the punching bag.

The divorce was a dumb plot anyway. It really bottomed out and had nowhere to go because the healthiest thing Jerry could have done was cut off his kids because they inevitably invited dumb sci-fi shit back in to his life every time they showed up, and if that's going to happen every time Jerry has the spotlight you may as well drop needing to contrive him in to things and just leave him as part of the family.

The writers have had some kind of deep-seated venom towards Jerry from the very beginning, for some reason
His only crime is being milquetoast but the show just dumps on him constantly, I never once felt like all the shit that happens to him was justified or even that funny. For a show that loves to be meta and "clever", they really just lifted Meg from Family Guy and made her into a suburban dad

It used to be funny like when he is being nice to summer but desperately needs money since that came out of nowhere, that desperation really worked.
Now he is just pathetic and full of himself but the r&m writers are the laziest son of a b***hes in the world

Out of all the characters Jerry remains the most human one.
    >Jaded uberemart scientist who doesn't give a frick about anything ever
    >Jaded sidekick characetrized by being stupid and slightly less jaded than grandpa
    >Jaded alcoholic mom
    >Jaded teenage girl sidekick
    Vs
    >Flawed albeit genuine joe schmoe who is against his will thrown into the whirlwind of cosmjc bullshit and who in spite of that tries his best to fill out the role of a father
Everyone but Jerry feels like a cardboard cutout of a person at this point. I wonder when they'll jump the shark with him.

Yeah, but how often does it end in Morty learning a lesson to be more Jaded about whatever he got excited about?

          >Yeah, but how often does it end in Morty learning a lesson to be more Jaded about whatever he got excited about?

Thats a valid question, but Morty will probably never learn that lesson.

Morty Prime is the opposite of his real grandfather. Rick c137 secretly loves morty prime. For some reason he went out of his way to get memories of him being born and holds on them, despite saying morty's are replaceable.

I wouldn't be surprised if Morty's are not actually stupid. That maybe Ricks treat them like they are stupid because they are afraid they will end up like Rick Prime if they are treated like they are smart at an early age.

If Dan gets a heads up that the show will not be renewed or gets an offer to finish it with a movie, I imagine the series will end with positive nihilism, where Morty saves everyone, knowing that he could just skip dimensions, because he has chosen to love the family we've seen and end the series on "life only has the meaning you give it and thats ok" and "we're all doing our best and even though that is often not enough, sometimes it is." And in the last 3 minutes, Dan will release some comedy fart to take the seriousness out of the ending because ultimately Dan hates himself and has to deflate anything meaningful he or his team put out.

If he doesn't see the ending coming, the show will probably end on a dick, incest, fart or jerry is an idiot joke.

            >"life only has the meaning you give it and thats ok
Community has similar absurdist themes so I could absolutely see this

              >Community has similar absurdist themes so I could absolutely see this

alright, not to get up my own ass, BUT it would follow the Nietzschen philosophy of the show. Some would argue that Nietzsche thought there was no objective order or structure in the world except what we give it. Rick kind of embodies that attitude. Or at least the first part, "that there isn't any true meaning in the universe or life" so everything is meaningless. I could see them having Morty finish the statement with actions that essentially say "ok, well, I'll give these things meaning then. They mean something to me. So I will "will" them meaning."

If Dan wants to go full Joseph Campbell with answering the hero's call and using circular story telling, Morty will finally answer the call, much like Evil Morty, and learn how the portal's work and how the other tech works and save Rick's wife and put everything in order, giving the series a happier ending.

Rick probably doesn't really believe that life has no meaning. He just can't bring himself to willing his life to have any meaning without his wife. He doesn't want to consciously get over her passing because of the implication. He needs for nothing to matter because it hurts less.

And it can all be done easily because the time travel stuff has sat on that shelf sense season 1. chekhov's gun is right there. There is probably an english copy of the snake time travel guide in that box. Morty Prime is also the only person that can do it because Rick Prime invented the portal gun before killing C137's diane and beth. He can murder Rick Prime before he does that without deleting himself or causing a time paradox.

This is also predicated on Dan knowing the show is getting canceled though and having time to do it. And getting zero push back from his writers. Or having a desire to have an interesting scifi ending and not some string of fart and drug incest jokes in the final episodes. Lot of big ifs.

its one of the most narcissistic things Rick has ever said and it makes me wonder who on staff came up with it.

A true narc, someone with the actual disorder, actually sees nice people like that. They think everyone is using everyone because that is how they live.

who the frick in the writing room thinks people are pathetic to get one over on others? Thats like some shit Ayn Rand would come up with.

Season 3 peak nihilism who never bothered get the point of "Inside Out" that we behave certain ways because we are fundamentally social creatures.

Also fricking rich coming from Rick "I moved in with my wife's murderer's family trying to track him down" Sanchez, as if Jerry's perfectly normal reactions to the sci-fi shit means he's some sort of pathetic sociopathic manipulator compared to Rick's sociopathic manipulation of cross-universe daughters. Elementally its the same "I'm Alpha, you're Beta" bullshit people spout on the internet.

I wonder how that goes over at work given how very clear it is that there are poly lesbian snow flakes in the writing room now.

Was it Justin pushing that shit? Was he making the poly lesbian uncomfortable? Is that the person that was it reported that he was being weird with? Did he stop coming to work because he was told to stop?

Jerry is the only sane person in that house. The children are young and moronic and the wife is a high functioning psychopath like her father.
