When I show something it's a joke, but when it's commonly accepted it's suddenly cool.
I'll give you another example: All four of us were in the car. My mom, me sitting next to her and my brothers in the backseat. We passed a roundabout with an abstract piece of art in the middle of it. I said: "That looks like a woman skydiving". All three of them were laughing at me. I looked it up and it's a woman skydiving.
I love the idea that people think at the end everyone in your family will be huddled around your hospital bed like a hallmark movie lmao, most families are pretty fricked up and fractured by the time parents die, that or your kids will have moved away and will be too busy with their own lives.
What was the point of having him actually be crippled? Everything else about him was fake, the man wasn't even employed either, but did they really need to make a joke out of his inability to walk? It felt out of place.

The film is a satire of Philip marlow style hard boiled detective stories. So yes, in that kind of a film it would be revealed that he in fact is faking that he can't walk.
This was a huge and recent revelation for me, which I think I learned from this board, actually. I always enjoyed the movie, but a lot of pieces fell into place when I learned this.

But she was my dad's wife. It would just not feel right. But yeah, I've thought about it. And I'm sure she did too, because I basically look like a twin version of my dad and she missed him a lot.
