People who walk around quoting lines from movies and TV shows are bizarre. The worst is when you don't know the line they're "referencing" and they have a meltdown
      >Haha chill out man it's just a Mad Men reference
      >DUDE you haven't seen Mad Men? It's the best show ever! You need to watch binge watch it on Netflix bro. I can't believe you haven't seen it.

All you're right about is that that "show" is trash no one should ever watch

I showed a clip from Mad Men to my brother. I hadn't seen the show. It was that clip where the hot chick sang: "Zou bisou bisou". Both my brothers laughed at me. "What the frick is he now looking at again?" . A couple of years later one of my brothers recommends 'Mad Men' to me. Yeah, I got a little pissed. And I still haven't watched the show. When I show something it's a joke, but when it's commonly accepted it's suddenly cool.

I'll give you another example: All four of us were in the car. My mom, me sitting next to her and my brothers in the backseat. We passed a roundabout with an abstract piece of art in the middle of it. I said: "That looks like a woman skydiving". All three of them were laughing at me. I looked it up and it's a woman skydiving.

          Fricking crabs.

What was the point of having him actually be crippled? Everything else about him was fake, the man wasn't even employed either, but did they really need to make a joke out of his inability to walk? It felt out of place.

        >What was the point of having him actually be crippled?

A joke. In many other mystery stories it WOULD be true that he's actually a fake about everything. But just because it seems to fit the story it doesn't logically follow. Why would not being able to walk forbid you from being a jerk?

        >it was funny
Guess it fell flat for me....

          >but did they really need to make a joke out of his inability to walk?
The joke was that Walter was wrong about him not being a cripple

The film is a satire of Philip marlow style hard boiled detective stories. So yes, in that kind of a film it would be revealed that he in fact is faking that he can't walk.

This was a huge and recent revelation for me, which I think I learned from this board, actually. I always enjoyed the movie, but a lot of pieces fell into place when I learned this.

I always feel relieved when I am working. I've currently been working for three years with the same company. Before that I job hopped. My first job I stayed at for seven years. I got a lot of negative reactions when I quit. My stepmother understood and supported me. She knew I was unhappy at my job. My family reacted negatively.
    >What are you going to do? You're basically a bum now. Do you have a job in place?
    >No I fricking don't. I was unhappy there and I quit.
    >The horror. I was a bum.
I've had a lot of different jobs after. But my stepmom supported me, because she saw I was unhappy. And my family didn't. Those are things you don't forget. If it were up to them I'd probably have committed suicide by now, why they were asking themselves: Why? We didn't see this coming?'. My stepmom was always very supportive, even though she had no obligation towards me. My dad died and she continued to support me. A literal angel.

She's the perfect woman. Always taking care of everybody. She's also a widow when my dad died. I'm not going to lie: I've thought about it. The dynamic changed after my dad died. Suddenly I was alone in the house with my stepmom. I treated her with respect. She cooked my meals and listened to me b***h and moan about my work. We did a bunch of stuff together. But she was my dad's wife. It would just not feel right. But yeah, I've thought about it. And I'm sure she did too, because I basically look like a twin version of my dad and she missed him a lot. No.

She also told me she felt more secure having a man in the house when I lived there. Just in case an axe murderer comes knocking at your door at night.

I was glad she confided in me that she liked having a man in the house, but I'm not sure I would've stumbled down in my undies to confront an axe murderer. Anyways, I gave her a sense of security during the night. Like a watching dog. She wasn't alone and could sleep when I was around.
