Is there a term that is in between a NEET and being employed? I don't work often enough to even be considered a freelancer. I just made some ads for the newspaper and football magazines and made some websites. I haven't really done shit in years though.

In the original drafts of BL, it was revealed the Dude inherited a modest sum from his Dad being a jingle writer/modestly successful song writer. This is hinted at in the final film but never expanded on because the Coens thought it wasn't that important.
But the whole idea is that the Dude and the Big Lebowski are essentially the same in that they are living off other peoples money.
i'm 20 and i worked a day in a bar when i was 17 and wasn't brought back, then a week in a warehouse for a chinese company last summer that felt like literal slave labour.
I'm 35, no wife, no kids, and I'll pay off my humble apartment at some point next year. I just know that once I don't have loans to pay I'll just work sporadically and live off my savings and just wait until I get deleted by a heart attack, cancer or some road accident.

The only way I'd ever not want to kill myself because of work would be if I could work in a field I actually gave a shit about, but that would require a university education which I can't afford and never will be able to afford.
I've worked the same shitty part time retail job for 9 years in total. It would be 10 had I not taken a year off to go study... a year that wound up getting locked down.
Looking to move on with my life, but I need SOMEWHERE else to hire me. Hadn't looked for many years. Looked while I was away but due to other circumstances (mostly language barrier) couldn't swing it. Came back and the economy seems so fricked that it was impossible to get anything.
Went through some inner turmoil earlier this year because of it, but I'm doing better now.
I know a guy who collects 2 welfare checks for his mental health and unemployment. He had to attend assessments every 12 months for maybe 6 years. Then, out of the blue, he received about 7 grand in underpayments. He also shouldn't have been attending assessments, rather he was only ever required to complete a form so he was compensated for that as well. He is absolutely fine now but has remained a welfare neet for around 14 years. He just prefers the lifestyle. He's an intelligent guy, and studies. His house is lovely too. He doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, or spend his money like a moron. I often wonder why I bother going to work.
