You did this last week and I appreciate your personal enthusiasm but no, I'm not getting that sense. The tv and film popularity has not translated whatsoever, shops are still in bad shape. One or two titles w a little buzz isn't gonna change that.

I wouldn't say there's a lot of excitement compared to anything else. Just a little more excitement than usual.

I told my brother the premise of the new Ultimate universe and he thought it sounded really cool. I wish comics would more heavily promote their stuff and sell it in more places. Not everyone lives near a comic shop.

Not really. Especially since shills like you post threads like this word for word every week. It all seems pretty artificial.

You said this WORD FOR WORD in the last thread

          >You said this WORD FOR WORD in the last thread
          It makes sense.
Op is the samegay that is obsessed with shilling modern Marvel and DC Comics (he loves PKJ and Zdarsky).

He even made another thread >

          [...]

He always uses his IPhone with the same images and the same filenames (because he is too lazy and stupid and change the filename).

He’s also the one spamming solicits in storytimes to bump the thread.

    Quite the opposite.

It seems fake, partly because this comic isn't nearly good enough to warrant that level of response.

I think it's the promise of a new Marvel that is putting the characters in different situations, and where they don't have to return to the status quo after every arc.

It feels like a retread. This first issue reminded me of the first issue of Miracleman, but without any of the vim.

I think it's the fact that people are so desperate for some massive comic book that's really something special, so the second any character gets a really promising series it results in the number 1 going for (just checked) 70 for the first issue already.

Based on actual observation from multiple comic shops and online, I'd say that yes, there is more excitement around comics now compared to the last three years, but that's just because people are hyped up around the new Ultimate line and Skybound's Energon Universe compared to the tepid response to the other major stuff of the past years. Hell, even while the Energon Universe was getting interest last year, Ultimate Invasion and Ultimate Universe were released and barely many people talked about it. It's only because of the sudden interest in USM that people suddenly realized they needed to read those other comics

Even then it's still too early to tell how long this momentum lasts. If Marvel fricks up like they did Krakoa era it could backfire yet again.

That's true. I was skipping Ultimate Invasion until I realized what it was starting. I went back and read it, and it turns out it really sets up the new universe well and got me really excited at the end. I hope they've learned their lesson from Krakoa.

No? Most interest in comics is low. With most everyone having a negative view of the current state of comics (especially DC). Especially around Batman and Spider-Man.

And superheroes in general seem to be getting more and more criticism with more people getting sick of them.

    >don't know where or how to buy comic books
    >don't have the money to shill out $200+ to have a pull list for Marvel and DC
    >don't care about anyone except Spider-Man, Batman, and the X-Men

All of these are big problems. They desperately need to be in more places, and the price needs to come down. I've seen it suggested that they'd need to lose money for a while to build up a bigger fanbase, but if they started losing money, they'd draw the ire of their corporate overlords, who right now let Marvel and DC's comics divisions to whatever as long as they're in the black and not the red.

Yes, but only among people reading comics. Cinemaphile will say no.
