Your heart is racing, your adrenaline is kicked into high gear, your breathing is panicked. This dude was relatively calm for someone whose demise seemed imminent. Chigurh only kills people when he has a reason to or it’s part of one of his rules. It’s how he rationalizes his bloodlust. I doubt Chigurh would’ve shot him. He had no reason to. He was basically giving him an out by asking that question to him. As long as he said no, he wouldn’t shoot him
